Guest PimpDaddySarp Report post Posted June 21, 2005 I don't think I've ever seen Carlito win a match unless it was a cheap roll-up. I understand he's a chickenshit heel who needs to cheat to win but would it hurt to give the guy a solid finisher like everyone else? I enjoy his character and would certainly like to see him develop some better moves in the ring. Perhaps he has them and just doesn't use them, but does anyone know if he actually has a finisher that I may have missed?
The Dames 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2005 The Play of the Day. He did it once in a defense of the US Title. Dames
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2005 I think he did pretty well last night considering the botched spot pretty much ruined Shelton for the remainder of the match... what exactly is the Play Of The Day anyway?
Guest PimpDaddySarp Report post Posted June 21, 2005 Well, according to wwe.com, his finisher is apparently a modified swinging neckbreaker, so perhaps thats the Play of the Day, but using it once in a TV match over the course of his tenure doesn't seem to be the best way to get it over. I know he was injured for a long time but he's had enough televised matches to use it more than once. It's wierd how WWE will practically splooge all over themselves pushing finishers like the Pedigree and the Batista Bomb, but can go for years shitting all over moves like the Unprettier (I swear Christian used it forever before they even settled on that lame name for it) and Carlito's mystery neckbreaker. Well, I guess that's not that wierd at all for WWE.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2005 Play of the Day is Elix Skipper's old finisher, and was used by Randy Orton during his first run in the WWE. It's where you grab their arm and put your leg over their head like a FameAsser, then swing your opponent over and basically give them a neckbreaker with your leg. Last night it appeared he was trying to use The Stroke (facefirst legsweep), so maybe he's going to use that from now on?

Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2005 Woah, I totally forgot about Randy Orton's initial run on Smackdown! Wow, how time flies. And he was a face when he came over to RAW. In fact, I believe he messed up his shoulder (which led to RNN and the heel turn) trying the move on Christian and botching it badly.
Guest PimpDaddySarp Report post Posted June 21, 2005 Okay, I remember what the Play of the Day is now. Thanks. I hope he isn't giving up on that for the Stroke, which is the worst finisher not called the Worm I've ever seen.
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2005 Yea, it's the play of the day and he calls it the Cool Breaker. When Orton used it, he called it the O-Zone.

I seem to remember Carlito was in the American J Cup tournament the did at the MLW Wargames card, he beat Jerry Lynn and showed a load of extra moves that he doesn't do now- he's being restricted by the WWE style, but I really don't mind his current ringwork at all, it goes really well with his character and he pulls it off to a tee..... pochorenella 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2005 I seem to remember Randy Orton using that move on SD! pinning Billy Kidman. It kinda surprised me 'cause Orton was relatively new at the time. I've never seen Carlito use it, though.

I've never seen Carlito use it, though. Credit 411:- Carlito Caribbean Cool versus Rico I don’t know if this is a title match, but I doubt it’ll matter. CCC hits on Torrie Wilson, but she remains unaroused. She tries to ignore him, but that just makes things worse, as he spits apple on her. Cole tells us that Carlito has “no couth,” but a guy isn’t supposed to have one of those, is he? Ah, Cole tells us it’s non-title. Rico punches, then gets a back body drop, but Carlito thumbs his eye and gets a swinging neckbreaker for two. Carlito slaps on a Velocity Lock, but Rico breaks it and gets some clotheslines. CCC scores a knee to Rico’s gut, but Rico comes back with a BUTT-smack and some kicks. CCC sidesteps a corner charge, then hits the Overdrive for the win. Winner: Carlito Caribbean Cool Match Time: 1:44 Rating: *1/2 Commentary: The Overdrive! Thank you, WWE, for helping the planet by recycling! He was injured shortly after and hasn't used it since coming back from his injury, this is probably the only televised instance that it was used....
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2005 actually he did do a regular swinging neckbreaker at least once on sd or maybe velocity I think. I forget who he beat with it. He didnt have too many matches on tv, when he got hurt. Yes he also did do the overdrive or play of the day or ozone or whatever you like to call it.
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2005 Holding the ropes for the pin is his finisher. Least thats how he won both belts IIRC.
eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2005 didn't Orton botched the move twice in the same match when he got injured? i think he botched against Christian and Storm i think during the Unamericans time.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2005 I thought about this last night. And honestly I couldn't think of a finisher I've seen Carlito do more than maybe once or twice. I'd agree with the statement that his real finisher is to grab the ropes in some fashion.

Guest RadioBurning Report post Posted June 22, 2005 I personally never saw the match with the Overdrive, and I may have seen Carlito use a swinging neckbreaker, but that seems like an awful finisher. The Stroke definitely is as well, and I don't understand why I see people using it relatively often. As far as Orton goes, he apparently attemped the move powered his face into the mat instead of his opponent.
Guest ImmortalM Report post Posted June 22, 2005 i think Carlito should adopt the Stunner as his new finisher. i think it would go with his character.
Guest scapegoat Report post Posted June 22, 2005 i think Carlito should adopt the Stunner as his new finisher. i think it would go with his character. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No that would just lead to him getting completely squashed and buried by 'Sheriff' Austin (You know he would come back regulary to squash him if he stole his finisher).
