Jingus 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 So about four years too late I finally tried out Morrowind. And damn, this game should come with a complimentary gift certificate to a game rehab clinic afterwords, cuz it will EAT YOUR SOUL as you spend every waking hour in front of the monitor. Plus it's got the biggest friggin' city I've ever seen in any RPG, I mean bigger than Midgar in FF7 big.
Guest Smues Report post Posted March 2, 2006 My copy of Suikoden I & II for PSP just showed up. I haven't looked at Suikoden II yet but I looks really sharp. I think they upped the graphics slightly as it looks a lot crisper than it did on the PS1, but that might just be the great PSP screen. They also made it fit the PSP's wide screen so you can see a little more screen then you could on the PS1. On the main screen you can pick between the games, or a third option which is probably titled extras. I found a sound test mode which is really fucking great as not only is all the music from both games available, but they've got it set up so you can put the ones you like on a playlist. I also found an option to play the ending credits from both games. There's I think 3 other options on the extras menu but when I tried to open them they but some screen popped up which I assume was saying that I had to unlock them. One of them said "Games" but my katakana is really rusty so I'll have to figure out what the others say later. From what I've seen thus far this is a really fucking great package and they need to release this in America ASAP.

Guest Smues Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Having taking a closer look at the menus now I figured out it isn't extras it's gallery. Inside gallery is Sound Mode, Movie, Event Viewer (not quite sure what this will be), Ending, and I couldn't figure out what the last one said, but that's the one that does the credits. Good package of extras, and the fact that full sound mode is unlocked right away kicks ass. I'm in love.

Anya 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 WCMaxi has confirmed an arcade release of SC3, and it sounds like he's saying it's going to come to US arcades. Happy day. Yeah, I had been reading about the Japanese version but kind of figured it wasn't coming here. Great news. We got DR in Tuesday. You played yet? Lili seems so good! Big damage juggles and oki. I'm really not impresssed with Julia's new stuff. 111/1143 is indeed reanimated. It also feels different, like it's more stiff or something. CH 121 is also reanimated but the juggles still work. d/b+1 is a new mid. It's slow and seems pointless. f+212 is the new string. Also seems pointless. 4~2,1 is the new low. It's a fast low that kind of looks like her d+3 then leads into a mountain crusher like punch. Hard to say how good it is, it's catching people off guard because it's new. You can also hit 1 ater her double hopkicks and she does the new d/b+1. Surprisingly I am most impressed with Kuma's new moves.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 111/1143 is indeed reanimated. I can't tell if I'm happy or sad. If it's slower, I'm happy. If its new, it's going to get me for weeks. Oh well, if it never comes home in any reasonable way... I don't have to worry. What did King get
Anya 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 It's not slower...it just feels different. Like more strict. You really have to mash that 111 out quickly to get it started or she just does a jab. Sort of like how it used to be in the older Tekkens. I don't know, maybe it's just me... The new animation is faster. I don't think it'll matter in the long run though, people were already getting used to it. I've been noticing damage is lower. Like Julia's ch 121, f3~1... juggles weren't doing as much damage. I also noticed Paul's CH deathfist doing quite a bit less. I am not sure yet if the damage is lowered overall with DR, if our cabinet is set lower or if it's just a few specific moves. I know overall wall damage is down. Not sure about King. I play a lot of Kings but they're all scrubby 10 hit, multi throw Kings. Armor King looks extremely cool though, at least animation wise. He's mostly entirely reanimated and has a bunch of new smooth, nicely animated kicks and punches. Fights and moves more like an actual luchadore now. It's going to be stupid if this doesn't come out for console.
{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2006 The Seventh Saga is one of those games that upon replaying a short period, I could't believe I had the patience to beat when I was a kid.
Jer 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2006 Unbelievably, we actually got DR here. I am beyond shocked. Thoughts - I love the remixed stages. The stage concepts in T5 were cool and these remixes for the most part are even better. The new cathedral is hot. So is the stage with the wolves. Moonlit wilderness is much less cool when it's not moonlit, though. There's no way to play the original stages, is there? Dragonov and Lili both seem really cool. All the scrubs here are trying to learn Dragonov so I'll probably learn Lili. Need to print out a movelist or something though. The five moves listed on the dashboard just aren't getting it done, heh. I'm liking the new Armor King at least conceptually, but I've got to learn juggles and stuff. It's nice to see him as a real non-clone character; he was always cooler than that loser King. Julia... 111/1143 - I like it less. Yeah, it's harder to block on reaction, but I agree it feels more stiff, and it's crazy punishable. The 111 was launcher punishable before but it needed to be a fast launcher and you needed to be ready to punish it. Now it's like they get whatever they want even if they wait awhile. Boo. And yeah, it does feel harder to do. More reason to just use 121 instead. d/b+1 - I've tried to make it work but it doesn't seem particularly good. Not terrible but not worth using. f+212 - Seriously, wtf is this? It looks like flash punch but it's not guaranteed on hit? So why the hell would you use it over 121 which is safe and does 55%? Most useless new move ever, there's already another move that's strictly better. Ugh. 4~2,1 - I like this so far. I like that it's NCC; more damage potential than d+3, especially since it also wall splats. I don't like how much lag there is on hit if you just do the 4~2. If you got out of that animation like three frames faster it would be such a good Mad Axe buffer. As is it's good, but d+3 will probably end up being a little better overall. By far her best new move though. u/f+4,3,1 - This could be good if it's option selectable. Otherwise it's useless. I need to test that. If it's option selectable it makes u/f+4,3 much safer which makes it a whole lot better. That'd be nice. But yeah, pretty boring additions. And f+212 just annoys me, if you're gonna add only five new moves, you can't waste them on shit like that.
Anya 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2006 Yeah Namco's changes and new move additions can be really random and odd sometimes. Last night I played a bunch of Lili/Raven matches with a friend and spent most of it listening to his rants about how Lili is broke, she crushes everything, Namco is out to get Ravens, Raven is the most unsafe, high risk character ever and so on. Good fun. The remixed stages are great. I like the ones that used to be in the day and now at night, like the roof and waterfall. The remixed music is also very good. I absolutely love the new Cathedral both in design and music. Old stages are time released. I think it takes a week or two. Kind of an odd, anticlimatic thing to have for the time release. That's why the selection screen has that "New Stage Select" option. Eventually you'll be able to hit down twice to get old stage select. I really can't say enough good things about Lili. I bought a card for her on day 1 before even playing her just because of her design and what I had seen from vids. I just assumed I'd like her. Every day I play I like her more and more. I'm guessing she'll end up being my most played. I love her design and costume, her moves look good, she's fun. I recomend checking out Syxx's FAQ on Gamefaqs. Yeah it's Gamefaqs but this is actually good, he has been playing since beta. d/f+1 is a Feng style quick mid. Great for pressure and setting up a throw or whatever. d/f1+2 is her 1+2 escape throw. u/f+3 is a fast low crush launcher that is only jab punishable. I use it as her main whiff punisher. Apparently d/f+2 is safer but I don't like the range. d3+4 and CD1 are high crush launchers. They crush like crazy, like Asuka's WS+3. CD2 is safer but doesn't launch, it stuns on CH. d/f3+4,3+4 is interesting. The first hit launches for 50% damage. On block she recovers quickly with her back turned. From BT she has low and mid special moves or you could go for throw. If you use the full thing on wakeup and it hits you get BT 3 for free for great damage. Another great oki move is f+3+4, 3, 4. Not that good on a standing opponent. I've even been thrown out of the second hit but if you catch them rolling you get the full thing for good damage. Her staple juggle from almost any launcher is d/f+1, 1,2, d+2,3,3. Easy and like 40% damage. Off a stun like f,f+2 or CD2 CH you can get d+1,2, d+1,2,4. Off the first hit of d/f3+4 you get d+1, ws+2, d+1,2, 4. So far I've customized her to have a black dress with blue bow. I bought a parasol that hangs on her arm. It's also blue. I am not sure if I just got lucky and it matches my colors or if it changes depending on your color selection. It looks pretty cool since it's not just magically floating on her back. Planning on eventually getting black stockings when I save up 300,000. I had some money saved up from 5.1 and bought a spear for 1P Julia. It's on her back. Looks ok I guess. It's better than that goofy squirrel. Also bought a pair of binaculars for her 2P costume. They're not that good. They're huge and hanging across her chest. Look kind of weird and out of place. Should have went with the boomerang.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Lili is a gotdamn broke ass bitch. From the one match I played again' her I seemed to notice that some knock down and stun effects have been changed more than anything else. I could be imagining things, but that's where the changes seem to me. And it could totally change the characteristics for a move. What you say Jer, is the comp in SilverSpring worth moving back from bumfuck Hage?

Jer 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 I printed out a whole bunch of Lili stuff to take to the arcade today and test, but the lines were too long and the people were too good so I ended up just playing with Julia to try to win. Next time. But watching one of the guys there use her (and apparently drive Eric to tears) was enough to get me excited. d+3+4 looks like so much fun. Eric - Pfft, they should come to me. And so should you, I've still got like 60 tokens left over from the Ithaca tourney that you can use. It's totally worth the drive.
Anya 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 After d+3+4 I do cd1, 1,2,d+2,2,3 3+4 head stomp is fun...I haven't been able to find a real use for it but it's still cool looking. So is her punch counter. I haven't touched Julia since the first day. Lili is too fun. Is wall 1+2, 4, b,f+1+2 more realiable? I want f+3~1, b+1+2 back.... I'm meeting up with some friends for console T5 tonight and it's going to be so bland. No Lili
Jer 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 Got to play a little Lili today. Definitely like her feel. She was easy for me to get used to since her d/f+1 into mixups is so similar to Feng's. I forgot about her d/f+3+4 series though. Need to try that next time, seems like it's got a lot of potential. Heh, I scrub Julia's 1+2,4,b,f+1+2 so often that I can't tell if it's more reliable or not. It hit the one or two times I got the third hit to come out though. Have you seen Julia's auras yet? I'm trying to decide if I want to buy them.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 Speaking of Tekken... remember the Wilson Bridge? That was awsome [/Farley] In related news, I prefered the T5 stages.
Anya 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 I forgot about her d/f+3+4 series though. Need to try that next time, seems like it's got a lot of potential. Abuse it while you can! It can be interupted by jabs and apparently hop kick beats the mix ups. So in the long run it won't be something you can just throw out. Still, it's 50% damage juggles and good for wakeup. Aura is lame. Everyone has it. It's like Jinpachi's purple aura from 5 except it looks really crappy. You don't even get to pick the color. You have to buy that random aura change until you get the color you want. And the award for the most random move tweak in DR goes to Julia's f,f+1+2 which is no longer + on block. I guesss even though it's high and slow it was just too broken.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2006 This place really died when I left. It's after Christmas but we've not gotten to some of the major Q1 releases yet. I'm quenching my Legend of Zelda by hopping around from game to game. I've played through a good bit of Master Quest, I've started on a new Wind Waker game, picked up the NES Classics LoZ, etc. I aspire to play through heavy bits and/or complete as many of the games as possible before fall. Including Hyrulean Adventure--the 1 player mode in Four Swords Adventures on GC.

So, after doing some reading, am I to understand that while Twilight Princess is technically a Cube title, Nintendo is looking at it as a Revolution launch title (since it will work in that system with some sort of possible upgrade)? That's not a bad strategy.

That's not a bad strategy. Aww, thanks. While the launch of the Revolution will be close to the TP release (Reggie says fall, and naturally that would mean US), a Rev upgrade has been denied. Although it's a good reason to pick up a Revolution, as the Rev's supposed to have perfect backward compatibility (while 360 and PS3 won't). If they pack in a shell you've got a heck of a sweet deal. There's been rumors that a Revolution-exclusive Zelda is in the planning stages, though. However, that and this delay begs the question of what the hell the hold up is. The game looked damn near done this past fall. I don't know if there's going to be a significant US/Jpn gap, but there's not going to be huge amounts of text to translate.
