Dead or Alive creator and pimply-faced Juventud Guerrera lookalike Tomonobu Itagaki is leaving Tecmo and suing them. I guess that explains why he said last month that there wouldn't be a DOA5 or a Ninja Gaiden 3. Of course, now that he's gone, the chances of those games happening have presumably gone up.

Yeah--see how Sigma turned out, and that was just a suped up PORT of a good game. There are rumors Itagaki may be leaving with some key Team Ninja staff, in which case Tecmo's president have flushed away their most high-profile development team and titles. Well, there's Fatal Frame IV coming still, at least!

Hey, they may have flushed away their staff but the titles are still theirs. They can come out with a new Ninja Gaiden every year now! Simultaneous releases for PS3 and 360, plus a Wii port of the original!

Also, there's that Rygar game for Wii. That's sure been a long time coming for a port of a 5-year-old game. And the sure-to-flop new Tecmo Bowl.

ALIENS: Colonial Marines is back on the production slate and looks to released either this year or early next year. That'll make two movie tie in games I'll be snagging. I've been looking forward to that game ever since EA worked on it, now Gearbox has it and it looks like they changed the story but kept the basic idea intact. Add in the chances of on-screen split play for two players (a feature sorely lacking in games nowadays) and I am a happy camper so far.

Hopefully it's not glich filled and crappy.

Are you expecting Nintendo:

A) Allowing Pokemon on a non-Nintendo platform (PC)?

B) Instituting microtransactions on a monthly basis to play a game, which would undoubtedly result in mounds of bad press and counteract the positive press the Wii has gotten, especially Wii Fit

OR

C) Build it and keep it free on Wii, but sacrificing the possibility of milking another Pokemon game down the line?

I don't see any of those happening. My guess, if they did it, would be that you buy the disc, it's "free to play" online, but you can buy crap with Wii Points, like a hat or something for Pikachu or something like that. However, Nintendo would not adopt the WoW business model, I assure you.

I don't have time to watch that video tonight, but I do remember one of those ads. "What are you waiting for, Nintendo to make one?" "DARRRR" "You have seen the games, right?" And then they defeat themselves by showing a fuckload of grainy fmv games. IIRC.

Sega in the 90s couldn't market for shit. CREAMY SPINACH COLOR!

Yeah I forgot about the "cream spinach colour" attack ad (with Ethan Suplee!) but that video has a part 2 which features it. There's a part 3 which features what pretty much summed up how funny the attack ads became in retrospect: Donkey Kong Country.

"Where can you play this? Not on Sega. Not on any 32X adapters. Not on a CD. Only on Super Nintendo!". Good stuff.

Edit: This would be the DKC ad mentioned above

Did Andrew have the "ARE YOU WAITING FOR NINTENDO TO MAKE ONE?" ad listed as one of Sega of America's 100 reasons for sucking?

Awesome that commercial was in there, just like I remember it. YEah Sega, that sure made me want a Sega CD when I was a kid!

Anyone play DBZ Burst Limit yet? I'll get it regardless of how it is because I'm a DBZ mark, but it's surprising gotten good reviews from what I've seen. The maddening thing is that it apparantly covers from the beginning through the Cell Saga. Why the fuck does this happen? Every time we move to the next generation of consoles we get a DBZ game that stops before Buu.

Works for me. I'll have to pick it up in the near future.

Picked up DBZ: Burst Limit from Gamestop yesterday. I guess they had a t-shirt as a pre-order bonus because I got one despite not pre-ordering it. I'll never wear it in public, but hey free shirt! I also got a bonus DVD! which wasn't much a bonus. Episodes 1-7 with the Xbox 360 version. If you get the PS3 version you get a bonus DVD of one of the movies...umm, Dead Zone maybe? I forget. Either way useless to me, as I already have both, and episodes 1-7 I actually have twice thanks to double dipping money grubbing greedy whores at Funimation.

Anyway, I've only played for half an hour thus far but I likes what I sees. As noted the graphics are amazing, and the pace is quick and enjoyable. Having the Japanese voice option is always nice as well. I just wish one of these games we'd get the Japanese music, but I'll take what I can get.

I have probably logged more gaming hours on Sega CD more than anyother systeme, and not just because of the load times. I love we some Rebel Assult and Rise of the Dragon.

I picked up Stranglehold (the John Woo game) last week. I definitely recommend it since you can find it pretty cheap now ($20 or so) and it is fun to leap around in BulletTequila Time and rack up the kills. The final level is a fucking bitch though since guys quite literally run right at you firing twin Uzis at full blast.

I don't see a thread for Mass Effect around here, so I was just wondering if anybody else has played it and finished it yet. My guy and I held out and got the PC version, even though it came out much later. Last month we (okay, he...) put together this really new insane gaming computer with a quad-core and 2 video cards, and so the game looks and sounds absolutely amazing. I gotta say its probably the best game I've played all year.

I know the "save the universe from evil aliens" kind of story is old and cliche', but I can't help it... I thought it was just awesomely fun.
