MillenniumMan831 Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 I don't know how good it would look for Snitsky to get knocked down w/ the rainbow-colored Skittles Ring Bell.
Guest jumpingbombangel Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 Not like the WWE has always had the best in advertising (Fruit Stripes gum...?), but I have noticed a decline in quality sponsorship since the end of the late 90s boom in wrestling. It's like the PTC put the first nail in the coffin with the campaigns to alienate the WWE from viable sponsors, and then the WWE piled the dirt on by making no compromises...good for "attitude," bad for business.
CanadianGuitarist Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 when in fact, a lot of wrestling fans do drive cars That's the most thought provoking thing ever said. Wait. No it's not. As for the topic, I'm indifferent.
Steve J. Rogers Posted July 4, 2005 Report Posted July 4, 2005 Car care products (Castrol), and transportation companies (Greyhound) have spots on WWE programming. Maybe its also part of the demo the WWE is trying to reach (15-30 males) isn't going to be running out to buy the new, fresh off the line models and are more interested in maintaining their current vehicle and/or other modes of transportation I'm more curious as to the alcohol related ads though. There are no beer/liqour ads on WWE shows (which can be considered a "sporting event" ) despite Steve Austin and the APA being virtual advertizers for beer virtually every segment or match. Not to mention beer is quite clearly seen at every event during crowd shots Also I'd love just ONCE the truth.com or antidrug.com or any of the other anti-tobacco, anti-dope, ect comanies to step up to the big plate and run an anti-alcohol ad (I'm not counting actual anti-alcohol ads from MADD or SADD, well plus thats more against driving under the influence more than actual consumption of alcohol) Granted its not an illegal drug of course, but the target demos those ads are supposed to reach for the most part can NOT drink alcohol. In other words, put an ad saying why you have to drink "responsable" or just list the horrors of alcohol abuse, ect Steve

Also, everyone knows that pro wrestling is for kids, just like it was in the 80s.

I haven't watched regularly in quite a while to know if anyone is carying the beer guzzling torch. And Austin has made frequent cameo apperances using his beer guzzling gimmick through the last few years, and several alcohol related Austin clips (especially the beer truck hoseing of Vince, Shane and Rocky from 98) often get viewed as "All Time Classic moments"
Slickster Posted July 4, 2005 Report Posted July 4, 2005 Kurt Angle has had many milk-related moments but I don't see the Dairy Council breaking down the door to get promos on RAW.

Not to mention beer is quite clearly seen at every event during crowd shots This confuses me. I've been to events in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oakland, San Francisco, and Seattle and I've never once seen them sell beer to the crowd and I've only ever seen one person visibly drunk.

I'm sorry I guess I thought they'd sell beer in all arenas. I've seen beer sold at college basketball games in Bridgeport, CT! And MSG here in New York Maybe it depends on the actual venue Is there a WWE policy or something? Must be recent probably

Dairy Councill is a small patch on their fanny in terms of size and scope Oh don't get me wrong, "Got Milk?" has become a phoenomon and even has its name on the NBA Rookie of The Year Award, but it is nothing in terms of the scope and size of the beer industries advertizing revenue streams
