Rob E Dangerously Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Here's a link for you to download it: xhttp://s41.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3PD81STPU5U212H3RMMRD5JRAP Rachid Taha is an Algerian musician, so this is a cover of Rock the Casbah in Arabic. Any thoughts? (and remove the X too, duh)
Special K Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 I've heard it on the local indie radio. It's pretty decent. I've never heard a Clash song covered that sounded as good as the original to me, though.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 The best Clash cover I've ever heard is the Afghan Whigs' take on "Lost in the Supermarket," which is the rare cover version that actually does more than just copy the original. Really cool reinvention. The worst Clash cover I've heard has got to be that painfully dull Social Distortion take on "Death and Glory." How you make the Clash boring is a mystery to me, but damned if those guys didn't pull it off.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Last time I saw them, Built to Spill did a snazzy "White Man in Hammersmith Palais."
kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Haven't heard it, but anything has to be better than what Will Smith did to it a few years ago...
haws bah gawd Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 TRUSTcompany has a fairly faithful cover of Rock the Casbah on their latest album.
