JJ Johnson Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 I know it's baked, and that it goes with tea, but what IS it? Is it like a cookie, or a brownie, or a muffin, or what?
Guest Vitamin X Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 It's extremely similar to the English muffin, just not as sweet.
Guest Vitamin X Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Scones are thick bread that are flaky on the outside, and chewy on the inside for the most part. They come in a variety of flavors like this one which is orange and raisins: or this one which is a little more plain: At Starbucks, we usually sell cinnamon chip, cranberry orange, blueberry, and chocolate in the morning. They're better than I thought they would be.
RepoMan Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 It's extremely similar to the English muffin, just not as sweet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How are English muffins sweet? Scones kick ass if done right, but most places I've tried them at screw it up,
Jericholic82 Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 English muffins are ok, but I don't like them that much. They are fune with a fried egg on them on just with butter and jelly.
Special K Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 At the Safeway near my house they've started to sell loaves of english muffin bread. I need to try that out.
Garth Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Both scones and crumpets are delicious. To eat scones right though you gots to be having it with clotted cream and jam. I'm not a big cream fan, but love scones and strawberry jam. I don't remember a single instance however, when I have had both crumpets and tea. As far as American baked goods go, I'm eternally greatful for the blueberry muffin. They're the bomb, yo.
Crimson Platypus Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 English muffins are great with a little pizza sauce, some cheese, and a topping or two.
Guest Vitamin X Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 I have to sell them at Starbucks. I tend to know a lot about international foods, in general.
Slayer Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 I was worried you might be forgetting your Cubano roots
