Dogbert 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2005 Why don't they just have Eddie show up on Smackdown, say that he lied when he said he wouldn't reveal the secret (because, you know, he lies, cheats and steals), and do it anyway? Rey gets pissed, challenges him to some kind of specialty match, and we're on for Summerslam.
BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2005 Not bad, even if it does screw over those who ordered GAB to see the secret revealed.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2005 Excatly, hell most of my interest in seeing GAB was based around finding out (good or bad) what this horrible secret was. I didn't care if Eddie jobbed as long as he then was a dick and told it anyway. This feud is starting to take on Roadrunner/Coyote vibes. Eddie has been jobbing so long to Rey that frankly I wish he'd just snap and destroy Rey. It's a weird ass backward feud in that they are having the face totally dominate the heel to the point where I'm begging for the heel to win.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2005 Correct, it's the entirely wrong way to book an angle. The entire basis of a wrestling feud is "Wrestler A does something bad to Wrestler B, Wrestler B wants revenge....at first he is denied, but after trying finally overcomes the odds and wins." Dreamer/Raven was this formula cranked to the max. But this Eddie/Rey thing? I have no idea what I'm supposed to be wanting to see here. Rey has already beaten Eddie so many times that it takes out him getting revenge for Eddie's misdeeds....he's won EVERY match! So thus I assume I'm supposed to be rooting for Eddie to finally reveal his big secret and get an elusive win. If Rey has been booking this himself, WWE should take note and never let him book his own angles again.
Jericho2000Mark 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2005 Vince is a fucking idiot. How can someone so stupid and completely ignorant of what his customers wan't, become a self-made millionaire, and at one point, billionaire? I agree with whoever said Vince doesn't deserve any of the fans his company has. If WCW or anything resembling competition were around today, and WWE booked the shit they have been booking for the last three years, they would be at 95-97 buisiness levels by now...if that. Honestly, I liked WCW at any point more than I like WWE right now... At least they didn't restrict good wrestlers from doing what they do best, or put glorified lower card cheap heat magnets like Bradshaw on top, and only give the Main Eventers time to put on good matches(Which most of them can't do anyway, which is why there are so many damn gimmick matches in Main Events these days). SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2005 Here's some stolen GAB news... Credit: PWInsider.com Elite Audio - To update on yesterday's report, Vince McMahon was said to be very unhappy with the Great American Bash pay-per-view in all respects. - McMahon was said to be storming around backstage and was especially agitated during the main-event where JBL wrestled Batista. - Word is that McMahon was ticked off with Batista and how he worked against JBL. Batista's flaws went pretty much unnoticed in his series of matches against Triple H, as the game carried him through those matches so well. However in JBL, he did not have that type of opponent, and his limitations were said to have been exposed for all to see. - Numerous SmackDown! workers have said while they do not like praising Triple H, they do have a now found respect for him after carrying Batista through their series of matches. http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/2005_/arti.../1122378629.php

I think it was one of the most least enjoyed ppv I've watched in years the more I've thought about it. It wasnt just that the main event sucked though, although that certainly really dropped the ball on the show as a whole. Batista-JBL was certainly a shit match, but I dont think the blame resides solely on Batista or JBL in particularly, although they both did seem to work at half the ability one would expect from them. There was a certain mistake on the way that match was laid out by the wrestlers/agents, as it was tedious and boring. None of the HHH-Batista matches were laid out to the basic level that this one seemed to be. I think it's clear JBL can't work a "normal" match unless he is carried strongly by someone (see Eddy G.) or else the match is really in particularly laid out in great detail to protect his weaknesses.
