I'd love it. Battle of the RAW shows, fuck a Cena. Carlito/Jericho is where it's at.

Someone has to state the obvious here:

Shouldn't they be building up Jericho as a credible challenger? I can't remember the last time he had a match on Raw, let alone won one. I'm a Jericho mark, and even I have no interest in seeing him wrestle Cena. Call me crazy, but I'd think that making Jericho look like a legit threat might increase interest in seeing a match between the two more than the stuff they've been doing.

And isn't the whole point to get people interested in as many of the PPV matches as possible so they'll be more likely to buy it?

Well looking around at the crowd...it seems like what they're doing is working...

What with the whole 'Can Cena over come the odds, of what Jericho (and Eric) are throwing at him'. And Jericho keeps cheapshotting him, will Cena get him back. That seems like a better build to me then...well Jericho beating Cena in matches weeks before...I think it's pretty much understood that "Jericho's a great wrestler" no matter how many matches he's won or lost in recent memory.

Not really. The fans really just see him as this annoying all talk but no show clown with a severe losing record.

I haven't seen an episode of Raw that poor in the past seven years. Since maybe 1997.

The main event consisted of Jericho, Carlito and Cena, three people I genuinely dislike and a predictable finish with bad wrestling in between.

The undercard was full of stupid "ha-ha" bits and bad music performances. The worked shoot fell flat. Shelton Benjamin, one of the only good parts of Raw, was squashed by two non-talents and given the brushoff for the ongoing Fat Man and Little Boy feud. Due to a TSN policy against airing man-on-woman violence, much of the end of Kane vs. Edge was commercials. Plus, more commercials afterwards. I think it may have been for the best.

Over two shows in two days, I have never been as uninterested in WWE programming as I am now.

Seriously, offer me any Raw card (with results) past December 1997 and I will tell you, in detail, why that show was more actively enjoyable than tonight's god-awful show.

First of all, the whole 'Can Cena over come the odds, of what Jericho (and Eric) are throwing at him' is stale. The only way it could make me want to see the PPV is if they added some heavy stipulation to the actual PPV match itself that's intended to work against Cena.

Second, I never said have Jericho wrestle Cena for weeks leading up to Summerslam, but it simply does not make sense to not have your #1 contender wrestle leading up to a big PPV.

Third, I don't think the average fan really buy Jericho as a good wrestler given how he's been jobbed out and buried consistently since 2002.

Fourth, I don't know how "looking at the crowd" is supposed to determine how much people want to buy a PPV. Being over with the live crowd does not automatically translate into PPV buys. Look at Undertaker and hogan's last titles reigns for proof of that.

If it makes you that miserable, stop watching.

Maybe I shouldn't have thrown in the part of me being uninterested, because that's just me bitching.

But seriously, I'm as pro-WWE as it gets. Why on earth would they air a show this poor?

It wasn't my favorite Raw ever either, but a mediocre Raw is better than most else on TV.

Y2Jerk, I have been saying as much in various other threads on here. Jericho right now has no credibility. I mean my God the guy was jobbing out in the IC division just a couple months ago. I think I ended up comparing him to JBL in that he too is getting a title shot on PPV despite doing jack shit to deserve it. Hell, even BOB HOLLY won some sort of #1 contender match to justify getting a crack at Lesnar.

One thing I can't believe is that they haven't mentioned the previous PPV encounter of Jericho/Cena. That 2002 Vengeance match is one that led to Jericho's cred dying a horrible death, the fact that he jobbed to a totally green and heatless Cena.

This angle is seriously going to lead to fans turning on Cena, I can feel it. Jericho has already made several good points on this, and if you notice the crowd tonight seemed rather pleased to see Carlito beat Cena. In fact, I think they had Jericho forfeit the Battle of the Bands so that Fozzy didn't upstage Cena.

Unfortunately, I don't think Jericho winning a debate isn't going to help him get any PPV buys. Anytime I've bought a PPV, its been because I really wanted to see one or more of the matches. Nothing they've done makes me want to see this match.

Ha ha ha! Oh, you're serious.

Yes I am...I focus on what I like, halfway like, instead of the negative. And yes, sometimes there's a lot of negative.

One problem is that Raw is so heel heavy that I'm not sure who you'd job out to Jericho to boost his cred. How many notable faces are there on Raw right now? Shelton has been jobbing to Carlito and even tonight to Chris Masters, not sure what good it'd do Jericho to beat him. Kane has jobbed to Edge now so often that nobody would care if Jericho beat him. Maybe job out the Big Show?

It's really all smoke and mirrors to make you forget that Jericho has been a jobber the better part of 3 years. I'd almost put the title on Jericho as a shock title change since no one believes he has a shot, then we know he'd job out to HHH when he returns....then we have Cena chase HHH. I mean you know HHH is getting the belt at some point again, this is as feasible as anything.

I'm not going to come down on this Raw too hard tonight....after that PPV last night they could put on anything short of Katie Vick and it'd be an improvement.

You know, while watching the Shelton/Masters thing tonight I wondered....why doesn't someone simply go to the corner and do the old Bret flip back onto Masters? It'd be a good way to job him out without having someone break the Masterlock.

After seeing Big Vis with a midget with a similar look, I had eery flashbacks of Men on a Mission from the mid-90's. Ugh.

Two shitty WWE shows in a row. Yeesh. Smackdown may be even worse at the rate WWE's being going lately.

Having Jericho go over the Big Show is a good place to start.  Its certainly better than jobbing Show out to Masters.

And having Jericho beat Big Show is gonna exactly show that Jericho can do better against Cena how?

Sorry, but I don't get the whole, so and so can beat this guy...so that means he'll probaly be able to beat this guy.

If Jericho wants to prove he can hang with Cena...he has to kill a rapper. Nelly would be a good starting point.

Finally! Jericho hit the Lionsault without it being blocked by someone going into fetal position or him landing on his feet which obviously hurt him.

RAW hasn't really been doing anything to impress me, (with the exception of the main event)

The moving of the announcers table on RAW last night was a permanent decision. Some may have thought it was done to create space for the "Battle of the Bands" segment, but it is an official move back. The announcers will main a three-person squad, with them returning to the ring side area every week.
