Forrest Predictions

For the second time Spike TV is going to give it away! That's right; Spike TV is broadcasting Ultimate Fight Night live on August 6th. This will be only the second time that Mixed Martial Arts fights will be shown live by a major network on television. The winners from The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 Finale on April 9th will be prominently featured in match ups against other top quality UFC fighters.

Hoger vs. Bonnar

The light heavy weight match up features Stephan Bonnar vs. Sam Hoger. Both fighters have good ground games. Stephan's stand up is boxing oriented while Sam's striking game is mauy tai. Sam will be looking to land the high kick to the head. Both fighters have long reaches which should negate each other. I think Stephan will win the fight in a good standup fight. Both fighters have good chins.

Spratt vs. Koscheck

The first match up features Pete "the secret weapon" Spratt against Josh "q-tip" Koscheck. Pete Spratt has only had only had two fights in the last two years. Josh has been slightly more active and has looked impressive in both wins and losses. I'm going to pick Koscheck as the winner by a close decision. I believe that Koscheck will be able to get the take downs when needed and be able to control the fight.

Sell vs. Quarry

The next match up is Nate "the rock" quarry vs. Pete Sell. Both fighters looked good in their last fights. Sell is a solid jits (ju jits ju) player with good boxing to go with it. Nate is also a well rounded fighter and great athlete. However, if Sell is able to take Quarry down, I think he will be able to win by submission.

Cote vs. Leben

Chris Leben will fight Patrick Cote at 185lbs. Patrick Cote has improved as much as any other fighter in the UFC during the last year. Despite his loss to Joe Dorkson in UFC 52, he showed very crisp boxing and clinch against an accomplished fighter. It will be interesting to see what improvements Chris Leben has made since his last fight. Leben needs to evolve his fighting style past rugged striker. I think that Cote will win by out-striking Leben, however Leben has a great chin and can win any fight with one punch.

Salaverry vs. Marquardt

In the main event, also at middle weight (185 lbs), we have a very exciting match up between two fighters that deserve a shot at the middle weight title. First let’s look at Nathan Marquardt who is virtually unknown to many UFC fans but has many impressive wins in Pancrase. Nathan Marquardt has the total package, submission skills as well as flashy strikes. His opponent Ivan Salaverry also has great submission skills as well as excellent standup striking skills. Salaverry has been on a tear in the middle UFC middle weight and has shown he can win fights by all available means. Both fighters are always in excellent condition so this should be a great fight!

Stephan Predictions

We're just a few short days away from the Ultimate Fight Night on Spike TV! As you I know, I will be facing Sam "Sticky Fingers" Hoger. In addition to fighting, Sam's passions include Chess, Poetry, and collecting UFC memorabilia. Although Sam maintains a clean and proper appearance, he can fight and is skilled in taking punishment (frequent ass whoopings at the hands of Tim Sylvia). After all, he is a Militech fighter. As you saw on the show, Sam radiates deceptiveness, which is believe it or not, a good quality in fighting. I am very prepared to fight him. My plan is to give him a good old fashion beat down. I am ready to use all the tools of the trade. I will be comfortable in all facets of the fight game. And for the first time in my fighting career, I actually look tougher than my opponent.

Spratt vs. Koscheck

I know Koscheck has been working with good kickers in preparation for this fight. Spratts’ kicks are like lasers, fast and they'll cut right through you. I feel Koscheck will do what he does best and hold Spratt down and ground and pound him. I really hope he throws a little bit before he goes for his takedown. This will help set the takedown up and make the fight more exciting. Spratt is dangerous, but Koscheck has been working a lot of stand up. Koscheck by ground and pound.

Sell vs. Quarry

Sell’s best chance to win this one is by submission. Quarry has KO'd his last two opponents in the 1st. But Sell has got balls. He threw down with Baroni, and was getting the better of some of the exchanges. I see Quarry wearing him down and getting a 3rd round stoppage from punches. I would think Quarry had the edge in takedowns as well, and if he doesn't feel comfortable, he can always takedown Sell and get ground and pound points for a decision.

Cote vs. Leben

The Catsmasher is back. I feel Cote is a huge test for Leben. Cote has good boxing skills. Very clean with good power. Leben is an unorthodox fighter with a big KO punch and a huge melon of a head that can take a punch. I think this will be an awesome fight! I believe Leben has the edge in takedowns and that could be a huge advantage for him. Get Cote to worry about takedowns and throw bombs over the top. The Catsmasher is my boy, so I wish him the best. I really can't wait for this one.

Salaverry vs. Marquardt

You know I have never seen Marquardt fight, but I am a huge Salaverry fan. I'll pick Salaverry because I have seen him take out very tough fighters like Andrei Semenov, Tony Fryklund, and Joe Riggs with relative easy. He is exciting, unpredictable, and very well rounded.

Koscheck wins via rear naked choke in the first round.

Koscheck pretty much squashed Spratt.

Koscheck is still improving each time out. Spratt is very limited on the ground, but there are wrestlers who've been in MMA for years who still haven't made some of the improvements Koscheck has in the past year.

Cmon get the next match on NOW. Josh looked ok but a pretty basic win, felt like a complete one sided bout akin to a squash match or something, I expected more out of Spratt.

Jesus christ they are fucking up here production wise going back and forth out of commercials.

So far UFC is bombing.

Production errors, short action-less fights and a screwed up call and promoting Four Brothers...

They need a better showing from here.

It was a nothing showdown. Kos squashed him with a choke victory in the first round

Fack I missed Spratt-Kos, was it anything special?

Not really. Koscheck dominated Spratt and won with a RNC in less than 2 minutes.

I think Quarry-Sell was stopped too quickly, but it probably wouldn't have made a difference in the end. If the ref hadn't stopped the fight when he did, Quarry would have G&Ped to a win.

Jesus, people are complaining after two fights?

How was the production bad? That's a serious question, I don't know.

On two seperate cases, They had the glitch of showing the live venue and getting cut in with commericals and back to the live show and back to the same commercial.

UFC judges, by and large, suck. Makes me long for some Shooto judging & reffing.

I think Sell may have still had a decent chance to turn the fight around. He had enough presence of mind to get butterfly guard, and I don't think Nate was going to tear through Sell's ground game, even with Pete dazed.

They haven't shown Hoger-Southworth on Unleashed yet.

I hope Hoger gets his head knocked off.

The way they are slow pacing this show, I doubt they will air the dark matches. These are the matches that are/were dark

Josh Neer vs. Drew Fickett

Alex Karalexis vs. Kenny Florian - this is really the only match that might air, hopefully so

Keith Rockel vs. Mike Swick
