Guest Zarock Report post Posted August 12, 2005 Dude, Carlito. He needs credibility far more than Shelton Benjamin, who needs to turn heel pretty goddamn soon if he doesn't want to become Heat fodder. Speaking Triple C, why the hell has WWE decided that Carlito needs to get off the mic? That's his ONLY strength, aside from tapping his head like he's a genius for evading a Stinger Splash. That makes me chuckle.
Caliban 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2005 First guy that came to mind when I read the thread title was Shelton Benjamin. But as great as their matches would be, Shelton can't carry a feud of that magnitude yet, and for Benjamin to be made a STAR, he'll need some semblance of character. He hasn't found it yet, but hopefully his time will come. As for right now, they need to shoot Carlito to the top. All Carlito needs IMO to be a great main event heel is to work on his physique a little, and have a great feud where he is put over in a memorable match. And HBK is the man to do it. I think Carlito and HBK would mesh well in a feud.
Shanghai Kid 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 I agree with whoever said that their is no Rock or Austin in the making. Cena? I think he's pretty much hitting his apex, I think what you see is what you get and barring some really great booking I don't see him getting much more popular. He already has the belt so where's the drama? I guess he's going to get screwed out of the belt and win it back at Mania but thats all too predictable. I'm sure they'll put him over Angle/HBK/ and than HHH. I would just keep HBK heel and give him the belt. You want a face chasing the belt going into Wrestlemania, so build someone up in the same way you did Batista and have him beat HBK at Mania for the title. Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 Carlito? Doesn't even have a finisher. I don't think Shawn can make a star. The ultimate question of whether someone can make a star is if you have a new guy, that nobody's ever seen before, run into the ring and just beat the shit out of the guy and go over him clean, does he become a star? I don't think anyone would be impressed if some rookie ran in and beat Shawn clean. No, the only guys left who have that are HHH and Hogan.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 seriously...if you give HEEL HBK the belt and have a FACE chase him, you do know who that face is going to be right? the guy you DON'T want it to be...I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count...is THAT what you REALLY want? Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 If Shawn should job clean against anyone, it's Cena or (dun dun dun) Chris Masters. Masters already looks credible, and it would be somewhat believable to have Michaels pass out from the Masterlock, at this point anyways. Definetly not Shelton "so much potential" Benjamin with his lack of ability to speak clearly and lack of using his brain in the ring to have a good match instead of just using his athletic ability to do a bunch of good spots. RVD is a lost cause at this point. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And what does Chris Masters use to have a "good match"?? Ah, that's right. He's never had one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Shelton's had one "good" match in his singles career with Michaels, and he's also been on the main shows for a few years now. Masters hasn't had a good match yet, but he just started working the main shows this year, and he hasn't had a top match or opponent yet. Who's the best guy who fought? A WWE watered down Tajiri for two minutes? Shelton's got to face Jericho, Orton, Triple H, Michaels.....
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 I doubt they'll give a rub to someone that's over 30 or has been around since Attitude. Jericho? Why give him a rub? WWE sees him as giving someone else a rub. Whether or not that's true is a different debate, but Jericho ain't the guy that's leading WWE into the future. RVD? If they didn't do anything with him in 2001/2002, I'm sure as hell not getting my hopes up. Besides, he's 34, and won't be wrestling for as long as the younger talent will be. Edge or Christian? No and no, since they are both, what 31? 32? Anyone who was around the during the Attitude era is simply not thought of as the future in the same regard that Cena and Orton are. If Shawn is used to make someone the future, it's going to be on of the OVW boys or one of his trainees (Spanky, Cade, London).
Toxxic 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 Not Spanky and not London. They're cruiserweights, so they won't get the rub. Whatever motivation Michaels might have had for helping them out wasn't good enough to get them off Velocity when they were an awesome tag team, wasn't enough to persuade Spanky to stick around, and isn't enough to get Paul London a decent gimmick. I don't think even the WWE would make the mistake of Cade. They tried Cade and Jindrak, it failed. Jindrak got sent to Velocity, but Cade got pulled COMPLETELY. CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 Well, if WWE has another steroid scandel, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Spanky or London pushed like Michaels was when there was that steroid scandal back then. It seems to me, with the baseball and such, that steroids are becoming a big deal again. Although WWE isn't really in the media eye, you never know.

Benoit and Guerrero finally made it to the top last year at the ages of 37. Besides, since when does WWE think of the future anyway?
