TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2005 TNA annouced today that they are doing the same thing for Bound for Glory that they did for Victory Road, making this the first paid gate they will have had since November of 2004. Here's the press release: TNA WRESTLING ANNOUNCE BIGGEST EVENT IN COMPANY HISTORY BOUND FOR GLORY WEEKEND TO FEATURE SECOND ANNUAL TOTAL NONSTOP INTERACTION FAN FESTIVAL Nashville, TN (August 12, 2004) – TNA Wrestling announced today details of the “Bound For Glory Weekend” which includes the second annual Total Nonstop InterAction Fan Festival Saturday, October 22 and TNA’s biggest event of the year, “Bound for Glory” which will be live on Pay-Per-View on Sunday, October 23. Both events will take place in Orlando, FL. “Bound for Glory” is the debut of TNA’s signature Pay-Per-View event. TNA’s monthly Pay-Per-View events started in November 2004 and “Bound for Glory” will be an exciting culmination to TNA’s most action-packed year-to-date. Advance tickets to the “Bound for Glory Weekend” are $59 and include admission to the InterAction Fan Festival and guaranteed admission to the “Bound for Glory” Pay-Per-View event live from Soundstage 21 at Universal Studios Orlando at 7:30 p.m. ET. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 19 at www.tnawrestling.com. The Total Nonstop InterAction Fan Festival will be held from 1:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m. in the Lake Osceola Ballroom of the Doubletree Hotel at the entrance to Universal Orlando. TNA Superstars that will be in attendance include Raven, Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Jimmy Hart, Monty Brown, America’s Most Wanted, Jeff Hardy, Rhino, Abyss and many more to be announced. Fans will have an opportunity to meet their favorite TNA Wrestling stars at the fan festival, ask questions at an exclusive Q & A session, and then, attend “Bound for Glory” on Sunday. Special room rates are available for InterAction attendees through the Doubletree Hotel. More details will be made available on www.tnawrestling.com next Friday. I think this is great news. This is a good way to try to differentiate BFG from the other PPVs and if I remember correctly they drew a pretty decent draw too. If they hold off Jarrett/Raven II (which should headline the first non comp PPV IMO because it's the biggest one on one draw they have) they should do pretty well. Especially if they follow through on the rumored loser leaves town stip. Should be an interesting few months for TNA!
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2005 One novel cocept they need to think about if they do Jarrett/Raven II... No run-ins or ref bumps and give us a clean finish!!! That's just me though.

TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2005 I don't see Jarrett jobbing clean at all, no matter how big the PPV. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Once upon a time, we all felt the same way about HHH, and he's jobbed more than anybody but HBK recently. Not putting Jarrett in their category talent wise, but stroke wise I'd say he's up there. Stranger things have happened.

He jobbed to AJ, but the only person put over was Tito Ortiz. Outside of their HIAC match, Hunter jobbed to Batista, but didn't really put him over, because of how the first two matches were worked. Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2005 Compared to Jarrett, HHH is practically a saint. No one would be surprised if JJ took the title from Raven on their biggest show, whereas Trips has jobbed on consecutive Wrestlemanias.

jwpeer 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2005 Am I the only one who dislikes the name Bound for Glory? It's too long and not catchy enough to be a number one pay-per-view. They need new marketing people for sure, as a good catchy name adds so much credibility to an event. Maybe something like PowerClash WrestleRush Something strong, something you can addendum numbers next to in the preceeding years (and in this year like WrestleRush or BattleRush 1, 2005, etc.) to increase signifigance/prestige on the surface. Bound for Glory seems like a second-rate name to me, for a non-primary event. I'm sure with some playing around with words/concepts and market testing a far better name could be come up with that has a lot more relation to TNA, as Bound for Glory doesn't even tie in with their name. Final Collision Maximum Conflict Even those seem better to me.. I don't know. Just musing
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2005 Eh, if the show is blow away good, the title isn't going to change what people think of it. The title is not that big a deal, but I do like the suggestions you came up with better than Bound for Glory. TNA's existence is because it was created as a vehicle for Jeff Jarrett to get over as a wrestling star and top dog. Jarrett being at the top or the focal point of the show isn't going to go away until he does, simple as that and he isn't going away anytime soon. That said, there is some hope of them at least being able to eventually break even on their losses. One thing is when they get TV, is they should change up. Start by not doing things WWE is doing. Get rid of the invisible camera in the lockerroom. Get the action, even if it's non wrestling match nature, out in front of the audience so they can react to it. There is much more intimacy that way and people may start developing a (gasp!) connection with the wrestlers. I know from personal experience that the live WWE and WCW TV tapings I've been to, fans don't react great when they are watching a big TV. WWE can get away with this since it's the norm, but TNA should look to do away with this type of thing. Another thing, get rid of entrance music and fog effects when there is a face to face in front of the live crowd. Give the show more of a feeling of sponteneity as opposed to a contrived feeling. I rewatched the segment when Jarrett and Rhino found out Sabu was Raven's partner and when Raven came out, he had special effects like lighting, fog, and music. Do away with that. That is WWE crap. Let them do that. TNA, with this new TV has a chance to do something really different. They need to think outside the WWE box/template and get creative. They aren't going to beat WWE at their game. Hello. It's their game. But what they need to do is change the game. Sorry to sound a bit corny, but they need to be revolutionary. I believe they have the personnel to just that. Now they just need the guy with the most power in the company to stand down a bit.

Reminds me of the BFG in Doom. I do really believe that JJ will do the right thing in putting Raven over. I would have book this whole angle differently but I feel that JJ deep down inside knows that he has to do this. Agreed, but I did like what Bischoff did with the hidden spycams for a while. This is so lame, have an unannounced entry with all the glitter and sparkle. They should just cut the guys music so you build up the segment as the guys walks to the ring and thats it. Who in their right mind would want to play the WWE's game though? It isnt much fun.
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 so they have been letting in the fans for free all year? wish I was closer to oralndo (thinks about all the hurricanes/storms) maybe not.
RedJed 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 so they have been letting in the fans for free all year? wish I was closer to oralndo (thinks about all the hurricanes/storms) maybe not. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah they let people in free for both the Impact tapings AND ppvs. Lucky for those fans at least, but I am shocked they wouldnt at least attempt to charge for tickets, much like they did in Nashville. Perhaps though that is some sort of deal they have to do it with Universal as alot of other TV shows wont allow charging for tickets either, such as hollywood shows that need a studio audience to film. Fuck, if they announce a cheap deal for a whole weekend, including a hotel package, I might make the trip myself. $59 is incredibly cheap for a fan fest weekend type deal. I REALLY wish they would try another arena/location SOON though for these ppvs. Bound for Glory would have been a perfect time and opportunity to make TNA look ALOT more attractive to buyers of that ppv show (presumably first timers that will see them initially on Spike TV) when it happens. Trying either an outdoor location in FL or even the old War Memorial in Ft. Lauderdale wouldnt have been a bad idea.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 PWInsider.com is reporting that BFG will also be longer than most TNA shows. Here's what Mike Johnson posted: TNA will be promoting heavily that the first 30 minutes of the Bound For Glory PPV will be free. The current plan is to run a three and a half hour PPV show, starting at 7:30 PM Eastern. The first 30 minutes will go out live over the air (as opposed to having a pre-game show) as a way to entice PPV viewers to order the rest of the show. The pre-show is almost always a waste of complete time anyways so they should start just doing this as a regular occurance every month. Have a point to always do a really hot opening match that would be free for the fans, follow up with a brief but hot angle to lead further into the top of the hour, and you would theoretically have alot more last minute buys than the fluff both TNA and WWE throw out during their pre-shows.
