Shooting Star

The one and only VMA's thread

Yeah, Kanye performed. Personally, I thought his and Luda's sets were the best(as far as rap is concerned). R. Kelly's had to be one of the worst I've ever seen and the person who OK'd it needs to be shot.

Hell, whoever told him that Trapped in the Closet was a good idea in the first place should be slapped.

Of course, since it's R. Kelly it sold and became a hit. R. Kelly could get caught having sex with nuns and choir boys while shooting up MLB players with roids, and then release a multi platinum album teaching french.

And with Puffy's "anything can happen," it seemed like most of the celebs in the crowd were bored by it than anything else. And you know when he gave the watch away the second time he could have done it durring the break...but he wanted that on tv.

Highlight of the night? What the actual fuck? Not that I watched it or anything but if those two clips were the highlight then MTV really has hit a new low.

Anyone just simply tired of Diddy trying to be extravagant and over-the-top to the point that it looks like a bad recreation of a 10 year-old trying to show off all of his toys?

We get it, Puffy, you're rich. Now shut the fuck up already. We've already got "My Sweet 16" to fill the quota of "unintentional humor revolving around arrogant quasi-celebrities trying to cash in off of people who actually worked hard".

EDIT:People were actually cringing at how awkward that segment with Diddy awarding the "Best Dressed of 2005" was. Gwen Stefani had this look on her face that begged for someone to just kill her so she wouldn't degrade her career further, while Snoop was simply blazed out of his skull to care. It looked like a bad prom king-queen ceremony.

It's no different than the drama between Iron Maiden and Ozzy, and that got pages worth of discussion.

Well, i've no idea what that particular drama was about, and I don't really care. But if it got pages of discussion then people obviously wanted to discuss it. This is different, in that as I already pointed out, nobody cares.

There are people that care about it, just like there were people that cared about the Ozzfest drama with Iron Maiden.

My last post was actually in reference to the post above me. I had remembered, mistakingly as it now seems, that he involved himself in the Ozzfest/Iron Maiden drama thread, so found it odd that he complains about people caring about whatever drama we're talking about here. After later skimming over the other thread, I discovered that I had mistakingly remembered him.

Its not the same thing though.

I'm not really sure what the Iron Maiden/Ozzy situation was about, but from what I can gather Iron Maiden were thrown off of/quit the ozzfest tour under bizarre circumstances, following a problem-ridden gig, and allegations from both sides ensued. This was a specific incident to be discussed by fans of the band/tour and those at the gig.

The MTV thing, on the other hand, was just two rappers currently involved in a "rap fued" making veiled remarks to further that fued during an MTV ceremony. Nobody really buys into these fueds, and even less people sit and discuss the remarks rappers make about each other during awards ceremonies. How such an a complete non-incident can be called the "highlight of the night" is beyond me.
