Damaramu Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 What is with all these penalties on USC? If I was Pete Caroll I'd be PISSED at my team's unsportsman like actions.
Urban Warfare Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Notre Dame continues rolling, 35-13.
strummer Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 great now we're going to have to deal with all the "Notre Dame is Back!!" talk for at least the next week. That's my MAIN problem with football analysts, they freaking jump on a team after a week or 2 of good play. It happens all the time in the NFL and now in NCAA. It's the product of only playing 1 game a week unlike the other sports where there is obviously more of a sample.
Damaramu Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I did not get the call by the announcers. USC recovers a routine fumble on the kickoff and runs it back in for a TD from like 14 yards out. The announcer says "They're getting creative on special teams now!" I watched the replay and it was just a normal kick off play......so what the hell is he talking about? Creative? I guess they ran the "pick the loose ball up off the ground and take it in" play in practice a lot. Â So 2GOLD I think you were referring to USC losing in the next few weeks as an upset.......but who? Â This looks like a year where the traditional powers are down.....so it may be exciting.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Wow.....just wow.... Â I normaly avoid threads like these, but I had to see Dama's reaction to the day's events. Â There's always next year, champ...

There's always next year, champ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}>  Hey I thought I took it like a champ......  This Texas A&M/Clemson game is actually pretty good! And Texas rolled over an unworthy opponent today...then again so is USC.
Urban Warfare Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Again Clemson gets it inside the five yard line, and again, A&M stops them and forces Clemson to take a field goal. 19-10 Clemson now.
Vern Gagne Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Charlie Whitehurst still at Clemson?
therealworldschampion Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Notre Dame scores again, now 42-13.
Urban Warfare Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 The Texas A&M-Clemson game looks like it will be coming down to a great finish. But it looks like Charlie Whitehurst has some sort of head injury.
Urban Warfare Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Wow. Reggie McNeal is fast as hell with a 50 yard gain there which leads to a TAMU TD.
therealworldschampion Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I wish they'd switch to Texas A&M/Clemson over here, I don't feel like watching Wannstedt look like a dope on the sidelines anymore...
Urban Warfare Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 They most likely will. When Ohio State was winning by three TDs they switched to the OU-TCU game.
therealworldschampion Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Pitt got a TD and a 2 point conversion, so it's 42-21 now...
therealworldschampion Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 OK I switched to GT/Auburn, and I hate the fact that they broke up the Ron Franklin/Mark Gottfreid announcing duo for Bob Davie...
ANKLELOCK Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Tennessee always plays down to their opponent, I don't buy into the "their overrated" stuff yet. Â But Erik Ainge SUCKED today.
Urban Warfare Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Clemson will get one possesion to get a Field Goal or Touchdown but they need to be careful not to give the ball back to Reggie McNeal and Texas A&M to soon. I'd like to add that I'm thrilled to be missing the end of this game because of an ABC NewsBreak on ESPN GamePlan.
teke184 Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Clemson's about to try the FG with 6 seconds left. Â Â 42 yard FG hit by the kicker, Texas A&M ball with 2 seconds left.
Urban Warfare Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Got it back just in time to see the Field Goal. Great Game tonight.
therealworldschampion Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Tommy Bowden had a look on his face he's safe for another week at Clemson...
Sass Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I applaud Dama for how he handled himself after OU losy since I, honestly, was thinking he'd go into convulsions. Bravo big man. Â My friend's got USC pegged for losses with UCLA and Cal. I'm unsure about his Cal prediction but the UCLA game...could be rough.
Damaramu Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Wow.........*cough*big12blows*cough* Â I've been quick to defend the Big 12 in the past but so far after what I've seen today I don't think I can defend them at all this year. In the past I've been able to say "Well OU and Texas!" but I can't even say that anymore. Now theoretically OU could run the table and still go to a BCS bowl by going undefeated in Big 12 play. Haha......yeah I know it's not going to happen either. After watching today's proceedings and I know it's just the first day and a lot can change but after watching today....Texas is just in a different league than the entire Big 12. Texas will win the Big 12 and I'm sorry but that's not saying that much this year. I mean just look at the North struggling with the cupcakes they played! And OSU? Beating MONTANA STATE 15-10. Â My dad came in laughing at me tonight b/c he's an OSU fan and he was like "OSU won and OU lost! Haha." And I was like "Well we lost to a division 1 school that was undefeated two years ago. You barely beat a division 1-AA school....." He sat there for a second and went "Shut up."

Oregon looks like they could give them trouble, but if they get past that, it could be smooth sailing. I don't have a first impression yet, because I won't base anything on a game against Hawaii.

I think OU should start Rhett Bomar the next game. Or go find Tommy Grady seems how he was the guy that could've run Chuck Long's offense that he stubbornly sticks to the best!  There are two reasons I handled this well Sass:  1)I'm a full time sports writer now and so I'm looking at things a little bit differently  2)It was 100 degrees in Norman today and I stayed the ENTIRE game. I was too tired and burnt out to yell and cuss after the game.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I was at the Virginia game. It was great at first--got up 24-3 a few minutes into the second quarter, and we were rolling. Unfortunately, as seems to be tradition now, one of our most important players went down on the second offensive series, and that was Wali Lundy. Without him the offense stalled...until Groh got some balls and put in redshirt freshman Cedric Peerman, who is the future of this program at running back. Guy is great. Â Anyway, there were a few high points. Our generally conservative offense tried quite a few plays in a spread formation, and made good use of big fullback Jason Snelling in the tailback spot. But the secondary is still incredibly vulnerable to short underneath routes for 7-12 yards; Western Michigan's QB should not be putting up 250 yards on this much talent. Â I think UVA will make some adjustments and still pull out a solid season, especially with Ahmad Brooks being ready for the Syracuse game. Â On the rest of the day: the OU loss was obviously a huge stunner, and even though I thought Georgia would probably beat Boise, I was thinking by maybe 2 touchdowns, not 5. Surprising to see Notre Dame run away with it like that. Good day overall.

They had 3 penalties that I saw against them that were from piss-poor "me me me" attitude. And I remember them mentioning that the lineman weren't getting pressure on the QB so they had to bring extra help. What are you going to do against a team that airs it out all day? I know one thing is for sure though....that offense is out of this world.

Every game I've ever seen of Hawaii's contained dirty play, so it didn't surprise me that Southern Cal went along with it.  What are you going to do against a team that airs it out all day? I know one thing is for sure though....that offense is out of this world. You answered your own question.
Damaramu Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 You can't win every game by just trying to outscore people though. We've learned that from everyone. The defense will have to get better. Though it looked pretty good later in this game. But I know it's young. Hey I still think they'll go to the Rose Bowl.
therealworldschampion Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Southern Cal-Notre Dame might be one hell of a shootout this year...
Urban Warfare Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Looks like Georgia Tech will beat Auburn.
