The chase is more interesting then the reign for a face champion anyway. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I disagree about the chase part. The chase is only intriguing when the face has never been champion before. Now that Batista is champion, I don't think he can lose the title, chase it, and still have as much fan support as he did going into WM21. Plus, I don't think Batista is stale at all. He's cool, calm, but merciless when he has to be. An awesome guy to have on your side but pure hell to face him. His segment w/ Simon Dean shows he can still connect w/ the audience w/o raising his voice or cutting a typical "It's great to be in . . ." promo. Basically, if one hated the guy from the beginning of his super push, there'd be no reason to like him. If one liked the guy from the beginning of his super push, there'd be no reason to hate him. I couldn't have said it better myself, man. I appreciate Batista and the way he goes about himself as champion. He has and underplayed charisma. While Cena is more Rock-like with his jacked up 10 notches from his real personality style, Batista is how MillineumMan said-calm, cool, and merciless when he wants to be. I dig that he's a different type champion than Cena. It's better than HHH and JBL when they were on top last year in that they were the same type of character except JBL wasn't as stale because he just got to his spot on top. Plus, Batista chasing isn't as good because Batista isn't an underdog type of character. He's got a King of the Mountain, Top Dog type aura and people should be trying to knock him down, not the other way around. Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2005 I do agree that Batista's style is a nice contrast to Cena's (who I find annoying and overly gimmicky quite a bit). I guess when I said Batista is stale, I was refering more to how the WWE has used him so far. When he first showed up on Smackdown, it almost seemed like he was an afterthought, and barely appeared on some episodes. Hopefully they are re-focusing on him a bit more, because WWE really does need a top babyface as a draw right now, and Batista could be it. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2005 if this was any other week theyd probably prempt it everywhere and just show it on sat. but since they are making a big deal out of the friday night debut they cant. personally Im glad they will show one hour on wwe.com since it would have blown my wwe fantasy chances, as I picked MNM and Benoit. Kinda stupid though as not everyone has net access and/or a high speed connection. Perhaps they can reair it on sat night in the entirety? I only care cuz I tape every sd and this messes it up a bit.
