Guest Teckneek Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Does anyone else think now would be a perfect time to change the sets for Raw and Smackdown! with their debuts on a different channel/day? I think WWE should change the set and graphics as soon as Smackdown debuts on Friday night....I also think they should do the same when Raw debuts on USA network. How would you design the sets for Raw and Smackdown?

I think WWE should change the set and graphics as soon as Smackdown debuts on Friday night....I also think they should do the same when Raw debuts on USA network. How would you design the sets for Raw and Smackdown? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is something that I think WWE needs really bad. presentation is the first impression. I remember when they changed RAW's set and it was almost the same as before and it just felt dull. The song isnt any good either. Samckdown had a even worse song but they do have a killer set. Im not sure that I want them to change that cool fist thing. Some things that I think is important though: Have both brands look totally different. And also have them both look different from PPV sets. * Change the intro song for both RAW and SD since both suck. * Let one of the brands have Japan like corners. That is not three padded things for each rope but one large covering the whole corner. I believe ROH uses this as well. * Dont use a ramp on either RAW or SD. It should be used only at PPV's to make them look more special. * RAW is RED. Sure thats the way its always been and while I dont think they should move away totally from that color scheme I think something new is needed. * Maybe place the shows logo in the middle of the ring or on the turnbuckles/turnbuckle. * Smaller entrance. This is a part of not using the big ramps. I was always a fan of the small entrance ways where the face made sure to touch ever fans hands and the heel would do everything to avoid them/ignore them.
Mole Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 * Dont use a ramp on either RAW or SD. It should be used only at PPV's to make them look more special. Noo way. I HATE it when they use the ramp for PPVs. It's better when people have to walk down the entrance way.
Corey_Lazarus Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 He meant the ramps that they currently use, where it's on an incline and ends before the ringside area. However, personally, I'm a big fan of raised entrance ramps, and I don't know why.

Dobbs 3K Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Yeah, I liked when WCW would use the raise entrance way on Clash of the Champions...it just makes the matches feel more important, having the wrestlers walk out straight to the ring. Plus, it was always cool seeing guys brawl or do high spots onto the entrance ramp.
Downhome Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I love the ramps that go all the way to the side of the ring also. WCW used them for a while, and I loved it. It makes for some interesting moments also.
dubq Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Yes. PLEASE GET RID OF THE OPENING SONG FOR RAW!! God I fucking hate it so much.
Corey_Lazarus Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 ...c'mon, C'mon, C'MON...let's get it on! Move to the music, play that fucking music, move it to the music, yeah (let's get it on)! Move to my music, play my fucking music...move to my music, YEAAAAAH!!!!
Dobbs 3K Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Yeah, RAW's theme is horribly stale. It seems like such a hold over from the "Attitude Era", which they should be over with by now. I personally think Smackdown's it OK for right now (though it might not be bad to change it when they move to Fridays).
TheInsane Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Well they can have a raised stage but I do prefer the wrestlers to walk to the ring on the same level as the fans. But I also agree that the former WCW ramp/current NOAH one it pretty cool. It also allows for some cool spots. The main thing for me is to change the themes for both RAW and SD and to change the set of RAW. It just looks dull.
daileyxplanet Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 A revamping of the entrance-ways and things like that are little things that I appreciate. But I don't want either brand to take the Japan-Style turnbuckle pad because I think that's one of the things TNA could use.
ChrisMWaters Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 BRING BACK THE SMACKDOWN OVALS!
The Czech Republic Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Does anyone else think now would be a perfect time to change the sets for Raw and Smackdown! with their debuts on a different channel/day? It's never a bad time to change the sets
haws bah gawd Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Well they couldnt bring back the Smackdown ovals because in kayfabe, Rhyno destroyed the set by Goring Jericho through it in the Summer of 2001. At least I think I remember that correctly. I would love to hear a new theme song for RAW. Smackdown has gone through 3 or so themes since the original roster split (Beautiful People, the rap-metal theme, and the current one by Drowning Pool which is my personal favorite) while RAW has kept the same one, so I feel its time for something different. One of my favorite sets is still the original Nitro set. It was small, but not too small, and looked classy. I hated when Nitro tried to make itself look too much like RAW with the giant set and WCW logo in the middle of it.
Guest Coffey Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 I liked the ramp that went all the way to the ring as well. I think they could add some things to it too, like lights. Lights that light up when a wrestler walks past them. I think they should also move the commentators back closer to ringside. They don't want to be too much like WCW was. The black and red color scheme is fine, but the ring needs to reflect it more. Perhaps red and black ropes? How about a different colored outside border of the ring apron like some places in Japan use? How about two ramps, one on each side of the ring. Have both the wrestlers come out at the same time? The crowd wouldn't know what to do when one guy was heel and one guy was face. Slap the crowd on one side so that the live attendance looks bigger. Maybe throw more mics or some shit on that side to make them sound louder too? I drew a (couple) purdy lil' picture(s): Side View: Overhead view: It's so obvious that I have no clue as to what I'm talking about. Heh.
The Czech Republic Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Two ramps take away floor seats, so Vince says no
ChrisMWaters Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Besides that, TNA already does the two ramp dealy.
Paul Stanley Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 It's so obvious that I have no clue as to what I'm talking about. Heh. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Reminds me of a WCCW (dying days) house show in Lubbock i went to, they had two seperate entrance ways where the faces had one, and heels had the other. The battle royale at the end was hilarious cause once Abdullah got in the ring, the ring broke.
David Blazenwing Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 So yeah... I don't want to read the spoilers to see... but did they change the set for SD's first Friday Night show? I have a feeling they didn't... but am hoping they did anyways.
Enigma Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 I was at Smackdown and no, they did not change the set. It's still the same one.
