Guest *KNK* Report post Posted September 5, 2005 Will he sign a one day contract with SF? Since that's the customary thing for retiring players to do, sign one day contracts with their old team they were famous for. I'm glad Rice saw the writing on the wall and knew his legacy was to good just to be ruined by standing on the sidelines in Denver seeing very limited action. No one will ever come remotely close to Rice. Ability wise or record wise.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 5, 2005 Finally <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ^^ My thoughts exactly. No one will ever come remotely close to Rice. Ability wise or record wise. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think Randy Moss will at least come pretty damn close. Sure, he wasn't the class act that Rice is, but he's up there in ability. The comparisons Moss got coming out of Marshall was that he was a taller, faster version of Rice- with an attitude and work ethic problem, which is more or less true. Moss through 7 seasons in the NFL: 574 receptions, 9142 yards, 90 TD's. Rice through 7 seasons in the NFL: 526 receptions, 9072 yards, 93 TD's.

snuffbox 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2005 Moss will not be able to have the longevity of Rice. Nor will his attitude allow him to fit into a gameplan that actually wins championships. The number two receiver all time behind Jerry Rice is Don Hutson...and even he (for basically creating the position) is still miles behind. I honsetly dont think Rice's career accomplishments will ever be touched.
Sass 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2005 Good bye Mr.Phenom. You defied the longevity odds in the NFL and any young rookie lucky enough to get the chance to train with you shall be blessed. So long Mr.Rice, it's too bad you didn't retire in the silver and black (or even the 49ers) like you should have after the '02 SB beatdown. Take care.
