OAO Friday Night Smackdown Thread

Recommended Posts

OK, Smackdown's first hour is on WWE.com right now. The first match is MNM vs. LOD 2k5 for the titles.

The US Title, Cage, and World title matches are on the show, from what I heard.

Oh, and Melina is dressed like, IMO, Alanis Morrisette or someone like that.

Heidenreich did something interesting!

Mercury and Nitro were trying to do a double backdrop on Heidenreich, Heidenreich grabbed them by the back of their heads, and slammed them fast first onto the canvas.

I skipped to the Ken Kennedy/Paul London match. Now I'm at the beginning of Birchill/2 Hotty. Good mic skills from Birchill btw.

I dug the promo for next week's RAW until they announced the Tomko & Angle/Cena handicap match.

GODDAMMIT WWE, STOP MAKING CENA BATTLE HIS WAY THROUGH IMPOSSIBLE ODDS WITH THE DECK STACKED AGAINST HIM. If there's any way to make the #1 contender look less credible, I'd like to know it.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but here in Australia, we now get both Smackdown (in its entirety) and Velocity a full day before they screen in the USA. Given that we usually got Raw and SD late (from late 2002-2003, we got Raw three days late and no SD at all) I'd say it's about time we get these shows early. Anyway, I've already seen Smackdown. I won't give out any spoilers, but they could have done much better given how much they hyped up their Friday Night debut.

Burchill was real impressive even though he's highspotless. Really like him and Regal together. Showed he can talk a good game.

Kennedy's backstage segment with Sharmell was great. That's the kind of stuff he's been doing in OVW (and shows he's more than just a one-trick pony).

Otherwise, the rest is missable.

For curiousity sake, what did you expect for the ending?

I don't know, but just about anything other than him just pinning Rey clean. I honestly expected Rey to win again, or for Eddie to win by just leaving the cage. I can't believe they had him go back in and pin Rey also. It's almost like Eddie beat Rey twice in the same match.

I'm just sorta shocked it happened on this show, where hardly anyone will see it.
