Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 The last Smarkdown before Genesis VI: The Undiscovered Country (or alternately Genesis VI: The Final Nightmare if you will – or if you’re more of a Jason fan: Genesis VI: Jason Lives) I've not had time to do a close reading of the matches yet, once I do I'll try and provid a bit more comments. I loved the Landon interview where he says that Megan Skye would turn on Todd and come have sex with him – apparently he’s go no taste and wouldn’t mind having sex with a woman he described as a ”trampy little whore” since he already booked a room for them. So in conclusion – Landon Maddix likes his women NASTY!! Oh and I keep suspecting that I win these matches by no shows though *suspicious* I wonder if that’s actually true or not next show will show as I know JJJ will bring it
Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 Alright I’ve read what needs to be read and all so let’s go with Smarkdown. Tonight we see Tom Flesher return to the ring and other goodness Turns out Tom uses his power and influence to snag himself the opening segment (ABUSE OF POWER!!) and what’s the first thing this RUDO SUPREME~! does? He intentionally voids the “Cruiserweight rules” for his match with Ced as he gets a little moist You know in some companies getting moist in front of a female employee would be considered sexual harassment But Tom can get away with it cause he is BAD! And he apparently fears Ced under Cruiserweight rules? (well maybe not) In case you had not caught onto this yet SWF this segment reinforced that Tom = Teh Heel!! - Up next Manson shows sings of needing anger management – basically he’s tired of losing and he’s drawn a line in the sand. You’re with him or against him! Ben seems to be against him, but the fans are with him so that’s 1 for either side I’d say. I smell an actual direction for Manson! - Then after 2 segments and the anthem (Man it’s almost too much like Smackdown it’s scary – if Latino Hotness comes out they’ll sue) we get down to bidness – the return of Tom Flesher Who’s loved in Buffalo, which is excusable cause they’re all miserable rotten cheaters there and he most definitely IS home. Dickery and doucebaggery reigns through the match that Tom very, very surprisingly wins!! OMGLOLTHEFUX?? Nice little squash to set up the Spike / Tom match at Genesis. - We’ve got Landon who has managed to get away from JJJ and Jay (4J?) as “Team Unknown” doesn’t need back up for every interview!! Gee what could he talk about? Global warming? Hurricane Katrina?? Todd Cortez? I loved the Landon interview where he says that Megan Skye would turn on Todd and come have sex with him – apparently he’s go no taste and wouldn’t mind having sex with a woman he described as a ”trampy little whore” since he already booked a room for them. So in conclusion – Landon Maddix likes his women NASTY!! And he’s not too fond of Todd either - Next the Manson / Landon feud that started… 3 posts earlier hits it’s boiling point!!! OH YEAHZZ!! Landon sells his ass off as Manson dominates 75% or more of the match, with Landon only really getting sustained momentum in the finishing sequences. Manson is a bad ass!! Talk about putting someone over in defeat, this is text book (if we wrote text books on the subject natch) Thumbs up from me - Bruce extends his win streak to 4 and 0 That’s about all I’ll say about that - Next Jay Hawke makes bad jokes about his Dicks… I mean lawyers, New Orleans and Zyon in general before the previously mentioned Zyon comes out and have a little throw down Escaping the “Wing Span” but not being able to his own finishing move the rookie Zyon looks like he’s on a mega roll leading into Genesis while Jay is on the ropes, frustrated by the hopeful rookie. I am really looking forward to a hell of a match between these two. - ELM interview next as the maskless luchadore runs down Johnny Dangerous, saying he’s still hurting from their match – but will basically hurt Dangerous even worse back. He might even give him a pink belly in the middle of the ring since he’s El Rudo~! Magnifico!! Then ELM talks about how Danny Williams needs to realize his potential and be more like ELM and then he’d be a winner too Although 4 world titles sure spell winner to me A decent build to the match – I just wish there had been more focus on what’ll be the main event of Genesis. - ELM is put through a meat grinder!! His ribs are worked over more or less the entire match and Johnny D controls a huge portion of the match, with the win coming off ELM reversing a move out of the blue for the pinfall. Man his ribs are going to be mush against Danny next show. I wonder if he’ll go the DDP route and sell a RIB injury with bandages around his abdomen and by coughing up blood? (gotta love wrestling logic, bandaging ribs? Sure that helps ) Build well off their previous match, threw in a shot about Dangerous choking in singles matches and gave ELM a win leading into the match with Danny Williams All the right notes are hit – but I wish we had seen some Danny as well on the show to really build the PPV main event up more. JHawk 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 For the record, the match times in this review are based off of how long it took me to read the match bell-to-bell unless a match time was announced by Funyon. Flesher intentionally adds a tenth of a pound just so he can throw an opponent over the top rope? Awesome! But how would one circumvent pure wrestling rules? "That's What They Said About The Buffalo" is the national anthem? Was that the only Buffalo reference we could find? Manson's getting all vicious with the current losing streak. Could he be on the way to turning full-fledged heel? I hope so, just so I can start typing "MANSONOSITY~!" without feeling quite as stupid about it. Tom Flesher pins Ced Ordonez with the Ego Buster in 7:25. Essentially an extended squash to show Spike Jenkins what to expect at Genesis. Perfectly acceptable. Landon cuts a killer promo on Todd Cortez, ending it with probably the single greatest sentence in the history of wrestling promos. Good stuff. Landon Maddix defeats Manson via KO to the Land of Nod in 8:50. A pretty good back-and-forth match here. Maddix's cockiness gets him in trouble a couple of times, but a cool counter sequence into the Crash Landon sets up the finish. Again, perfectly acceptable as a way to make Landon look strong heading into Genesis. Bruce Blank pins Devon Walters with a fisherman buster in 17:02. I liked the banter with Pete and King a lot here. As for the match, pretty good by big man vs big man standards. I think Bruce wrote Walters pretty well here, actually, although I'm not sure Matthew would have actually gotten as involved as he did. Still, some good downhome Memphis-style cheating by Blank with some good wrestling thrown in. Be careful though, and somehow Devon changed his last name to Williams about halfway through the match. I don't comment on my own stuff. Sweet promo by ELM, who not only explains exactly why he turned on the fans but suggests that Danny Williams should do the same at Genesis if he wants to retain the title. Very simple, very direct, yet very effective. El Luchadore Magnifico pins Johnny Dangerous by countering the Super Spinal Explosion into a DDT at 12:03. A very good TV main event, with Dangerous having control of the majority of the match only for his temper to get the better of him and eventually cost him the match. It's going to be interesting to see exactly how ELM's apparent rib injuries play into the World Title Match at Genesis. My only real complaint is that it took about three minutes for the false countout spot, but if this were WWE we wouldn't even blink at it, so it's kind of hard to complain about it. A very good Genesis preview overall.
Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 somehow Devon changed his last name to Williams about halfway through the match.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Holy crap I re-read that sucker like 4 times before sending it in and I missed that – erm… wishful thinking?? No there is no real excuse for making that mistake at least 3 times - but at least it proves that someone read it in detail (Yay) And I tried to draw off the super-heavyweight matches I’ve seen in the past to make it a believable match between a guy who’s 295 and one that’s 335 and all, first match I’m 100% happy with Or well – I was until you so rightly pointed out that Walters turned to Williams more than once *cries*
Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 And thank you for calling it "Memphis cheating" - I'm glad it's showing in my writing. Cause I want it to be the low down dirty cheating of a Jerry Lawler or a Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie and so on, and so on and not the more "cheerable" cheating that Eddy does so well. Not that I'm not a HUGE fan of Eddy - I just don't want it to be a rip off of what he does in the WWE. Bruce is a dirty rotten heel with no redeeming factors (well other than he likes Wham, he can't be all bad)
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 So Ward no-showed? I had even asked him to incorporate certain aspects into our match since I felt I wouldn't have enough time to write for the show. If I had known I'd have thrown something together. Such is life. devo 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 Heh, cute bit with Flesher weighing in and making sure the match is under Heavyweight Rules. Poor Ced. Buffalo has the silliest anthem yet. Manson rages against the machine. Cool promo detailing the struggles he's dealt with since Ground Zero and the frustration he's going to take out on Maddix. I'm curious to see what he'll be doing at Genesis. Huh, didn't even realize until I started reading Flesher/Ced that we were in Tom's hometown. Very nice card-reading to open the match, though I don't appreciate the shot at Long Island. Love the part with Flesher schooling Ced Amateur-Style and King busting out the terminology. Tom pretty much just tore Ordonez apart here, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Flesher hasn't lost a step. Great promo from Landon, talking about his annoyance with Cortez and his confidence that he'll beat him once again at Genesis VI. Maddix just runs down Megan in the last paragraph, making sure that Todd will be good and pissed off when they next meet. Really good match between Maddix and Manson. Nice bit with Landon teasing the 605 and just Bootscraping Manson's face instead. Cool Mount Crushmore/So-Dak Moment combo. King's commentary is entertaning and funny throughout the match. Very cool ending with Maddix first landing the Crash Landon and then locking in the Land of Nod, basically to show Cortez what's in store for him at Genesis. That match is gonna be great. Haha, Bruce is such a dick. I really like this character. Cool opening bit with Blank cheating like crazy and garnering a Freebirds/Von Erichs reference from King. Turns out to be a recurring theme throughout the match, as Bruce then uses his disgusting sock to choke Devon moments before a blatant Low Blow. Bruce eventually wears down Walters and drops him right on his damn head with a botched Fisherman Buster. Cool match. Jay Hawke adds a some nice build to his match with Zyon at Genesis, basically coming out and saying that he'll cripple Zyon at the Pay-Per-View. Zyon comes out and refutes that claim, only to get nearly locked into a Wing Span for his trouble. It'll be interesting to see how Hawke reacts to Zyon countering the Wing Span in their match. And...the rest is me. Very good show altogether.
