Guest *KNK* Report post Posted November 5, 2005 but I'll be damned if Jake isn't among the best, if not THE best @ controlling a crowd and making little movements, count. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is one aspect today that new guys just aren't learning in "wrestling school". Back in the day, quite a few guys knew how to make the little movements count, but yes, Jake is one of the best of all time in that department. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can tell who grew watching wrestling and being a fan of it and who went into for a career to make money. Those who grew up watching it and not for the Hulk Hogan stuff but for the wrestling, they picked up on Jake's stuff.

Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted November 6, 2005 I watched the ENTIRE 6 hours last night Some of the promos seemed very random and pointless (IE nothing significant said or really quotable) I loved the JYD one for some reason.' The matches were solid, as its fun watching Jake do all the little things. Someone needs to tell me the Jake in ECW storylines. Ronnie Garvin vs Jake Roberts is now my official sleep aid. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Just FYI, this is a listing for the Roberts CHV if you wanna compare it to the DVD. Of course, thanks to Cawthon for the info. Jake "The Snake" Roberts #040 - Jake Roberts pinned Scott McGee with the DDT at 4:07 after Roberts held onto the ropes to avoid a roll up (4/22/86; Madison Square Garden) - Jake Roberts fought Ricky Steamboat to a no contest when Roberts attacked Steamboat before the bell and executed the DDT on the concrete floor; after the bout, Steamboat was taken from ringside on a stretcher while his wife looked on from ringside (Saturday Night's Main Event - 5/1/86; Providence, RI) - Ricky Steamboat pinned Jake Roberts at 17:21 with a roll up as Roberts attempted to revive the referee; after the bout, Roberts attacked Steamboat, hit the DDT, and draped Damien on his opponent until Ted Arcidi and Dick Slater made the save (8/9/86; Boston Garden) - The Junkyard Dog defeated Jake Roberts via count-out at 9:14 when Roberts untied the snake bag and took Damien out during a ringside brawl, allowing JYD to reenter the ring prior to the referee's 10-count (12/9/86; Phoenix, AZ; Veterans Memorial Coliseum) - Jake Roberts defeated King Kong Bundy via count-out at 9:17 when Bundy pushed Roberts back inside the ring following a ringside brawl; after the bout, Bundy missed the Avalanche in the corner with Roberts then chasing Bundy, Heenan, and Jimmy Hart - who did guest commentary for the bout - backstage with Damien (2/23/87; Madison Square Garden) - King Kong Bundy (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Jake Roberts via disqualification at 6:14 after Roberts kneed the referee when the ref attempted to prevent Roberts from grabbing the bag that contained Damien; after the bout, Heenan - who had been chased from ringside earlier - returned to help Bundy out of the ring after recieving the DDT (Saturday Night's Main Event - 2/21/87; Detroit, MI; Joe Louis Arena) - The Honkytonk Man (w/ Jimmy Hart) pinned Jake Roberts (w/ Alice Cooper) at 7:04 with a roll up and holding onto the ropes for leverage after Hart prevented Roberts' attempt at the DDT by grabbing his leg; after the match, Honky briefly left ringside after Roberts almost smashed the guitar over his head, breaking it against the ringpost; moments later, Roberts grabbed Hart, allowing Alice to torture Hart with Damien the snake until Hart ran backstage with Honky (WrestleMania III - 3/29/87; Pontiac Silverdome) - Kamala (w/ Kimchee) pinned Jake Roberts at 4:18 with a splash after Kimchee interfered behind the referee's back and hit a clothesline to the back of Roberts; after the match, Kimchee unmasked, revealing himself to be the Honkytonk Man (Saturday Night's Main Event - 4/28/87; South Bend, IN; Joyce Athletic & Convocation Center)

pochorenella 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2005 Finally watched the DVD last night, and damn if it wasn't a total attention-grabbing main feature. Initially I dismissed this set because I was never a big Jake fan and I didn't find his matches that appealing to begin with. But after watching that main feature I have to give it the thumbs up all the way. I never realized how Jake had all the little things that mattered come so naturally to him and how he applied them inside the squared ring without breaking a sweat. Of course, his personal life and tale of tragedy, triumph and everything in between is nothing short of gripping and I couldn't help but feel bad somewhat for him in light of how Wrestling With Shadows portrayed him. I haven't seen the second disc yet but I'll do so either tonight or tomorrow. Bottom line, another great, solid effort from WWE video.

I keep hearing about it, but I've never seen it so I wouldn't know. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> To hype his match with Andre... nothing else <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know if it's the same Snake Pit, but there is one incident where Jake DDT'ed Hogan on the segment and the crowd did a babyface pop. The taping never made it onto tv. All I remember about the timeframe is around the fall to Mania bracket. It said that along with babyface heat against Savage is what help Vince decide to turn him with HTM.
