USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 They should crack the top 20 then. If they don't, then the polls really must hate Wisconsin.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 The first Harris Poll is released this week which will officially make the AP poll irrelevent. Should be interesting, hopefully it's less of a joke than the coaches' poll but from the bizarre list of people who are voting on it I'm not so sure if it will be. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Oh my God. I am so incredibly embarrassed right now. I'm not even mad...moreso just in a state of utter disbelief. How could U of L go from squashing Oregon St. last week to getting destroyed 45-14 by....South Florida???? This was so unbelievably bad. Words can't even describe it. Bear in mind we were picked by 23 of 24 writers to cruise to the Big East title this year, and are now being killed by a scrub like South Florida. The saddest aspect of this debacle tonight is that it's not like USF is going to do anything. Next week Miami will beat the shit out of them 42-3 or something and it's going to make the Big East look like even more of a farce. Another awful aspect is that Louisville isn't really THAT into football to begin with. Hell, it took destroying people by 40 pts. a game last year to get people interested in the team so I can only imagine what sort of damage was done tonight. This was "plane crashing into the mountain" level bad tonight. U of L got exposed horribly and even if we rebound and still win the conf. people will laugh and say the Big East sucks and needs to lose the BCS bid. South Florida really isn't any good particularly and will go on to lose several times...or if they actually DO keep this up the Big East will have the laughing stock of fucking SOUTH FLORIDA in a BCS game. And people will laugh and say the conf. should lose its BCS bid. Hey, LSU...Auburn...you guys still want Bobby Petrino now?
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Well no upset of USC this week.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 At this rate, the Big East SHOULD lose their automatic bid. When you look at it, there are only two historically good football programs anyway -- Syracuse and Pitt. (West Virginia might be a third, but certainly not on the level of the other two.) This is not a strong conference for football anymore; the conference was built to be a basketball stronghold after all the defections in the last two years. As much as I hate to say it, the Big East needs to lose its automatic bid so a more deserving team has a better chance at a BCS game.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Could the MAC be deserving of a BCS bid over the Big East? I'm sure if the conference became a BCS conference it's quality would go up. I mean it's pretty close right now isn't it?
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 And who in the MAC is giving you cause to want to give a bid to them?
Guest *KNK* Report post Posted September 25, 2005 The Big East is a joke and when they publically admit to building it around Basketball, then they shouldn't be getting the other automatic slot, stealing a spot from a deserving team.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 The Big East needs a big win, I'm talking WVU over VA Tech level big. I doubt seriously that it'll happen but it would help the conf.'s image. Or USF over Miami, though frankly I think we all know USF got their weird fluke upset win tonight. That said, the answer is not to strip someone of their BCS bid. The last thing college football needs is less power in the hands of less teams. Tonight was just a devastating, program crushing loss for U of L. I mean dear god around here we had all sorts of crazy, ludicrous expectations. Stuff like going 11-0, major bowl bid, and the like. Days like today are why the state of Kentucky will never fully embrace football. UK gets trashed by Florida (no shocker), and then to top that off U of L gets truly disgraced by South Florida. Hell, at least UK got squashed by a GOOD Florida team.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 And who in the MAC is giving you cause to want to give a bid to them? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I just think all of those teams have more potential to make waves and do well than Big East teams.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 After a couple of very good years for the conference the MAC is way down this year. Only Toledo has shown any consistency but they haven't played anyone either until Fresno State this Tuesday.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Yeah and the Big XII is down too.....should we strip them of their automatic bid or consider them a mid-major? Hey I'm just making suggestions. If they took away the Big East's auto bid who would they give it to? The Mountain West? They don't seem too bad.

Fökai 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Make it an at large? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes. If they took away the Big East's auto bid who would they give it to? The Mountain West? They're probably the most consistent out of the remaining conferences, but there are still "off years" for that conference.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Yeah, it would be stupid to give out another automatic conference-tied bid. The point is to open up the bids to all of college football, so that when there is a deserving team out there like Cal or Boise State last year, they don't miss out in favor of a team like Pitt that gets in for no reason other than the fact that they consistently play crappy teams in their shitty conference.
