Chazz 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 If anybody can find some positives about WWE in 2005 I'd love to hear them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can anybody name any positives of The Stephanie McMahon Era on The Creative Team since late 2000?
Fro 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 They're never going to end the brand split because that means they can't continue their march towards 24 PPVs a year. Their stock would tank. You won't see an end to the brand split unless Smackdown gets cancelled and nobody picks it up.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 If the brand split ends we'd see the simultaneous destruction of Cena and Batista, considering that HHH, Angle, Michaels and Taker all have pull above them and would be vying for the top spots/feuds in the newly formed WWE. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 Ya know, HHH once jobbed on PPV three times in a row a long time ago to a lil Canadian fella they called Chris Benoit. I don't count Backlash since HHH wasn't the one who took the loss. Jericho ME'ing a PPV means dick-all and didn't help Jericho. No, but it was a breath of fresh air. Better than HHH maineventing again for the 100,000,000th straight time in a row. Eddy beat Rey. Holy shit, that's never happened before. Well, its better than Eddie never getting a win back from Rey at all. Yeah! They rehired Matt! Yeah! And now he's going to be banished to Smackdown to job to Ken Kennedy and Bobby Lashley! Whoooooo! Meh, at least they listened to the fans for once. And the supposed "wrestling title" is around the waist of one of the worst workers on their rosters and easily the worst champion they have right now. Cena, Batista, Benoit, Nunzio and yes even the fucking Road Warriors are better then this old horse. Time for the glue factory, Ric. I can only pray that the reformation of Evolution happens and he sticks to managing. Well, I can't stand Carlito, so its a lesser of 2 evils. More positives: The Royal Rumble Benjamin / Michaels HBK playing heel during the Hogan feud including the "Larry King" segment Most of the PPVs were good this year except for NYR, JD, and GAB. Victoria's heel turn No more Hassan The end (for now) of JBL's maineventing days
Guest Coffey Report post Posted September 27, 2005 "No More Hassan" certainly isn't a positive for me.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 The one real positive that I can think of over previous years is that the world titles actually mean something again. They no longer get bored and change the title every month like they used to. No matter what you think of Cena & Batista (or JBL & HHH before them), at least they are given proper title runs and built as the biggest star of the show. They almost did it last year, but Orton's disasterous title win was an abortion and not only damaged the title, but killed Orton's heat to the point that he is just now recovering. Guest Coffey Report post Posted October 7, 2005 That's somewhat true. I think the title actually means more than Cena does for example. The problem is, as soon as Triple H wins it back, no one will care anymore (except me ). I just can't get behind Cena because his entire existance is just another rehash. At least for awhile Batista felt different. It's definitely a positive though. Too bad the midcard belts aren't as prestigeous.

You won't see an end to the brand split unless Smackdown gets cancelled and nobody picks it up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If Smackdown were to get cancelled, if nothing else, USA would pick it up for Thursday nights or something. I'm pretty damned sure it gets better ratings than a re-run of "Tommy Boy" or some of the other shit they show. Not saying "Tommy Boy" is shit, it's a damn good movie . . ah, hell, you know what I mean The main problem with WWE, so far as being able easily obtain a home/time slot on the network of its choosing, is its inability to draw huge ad revenue due to the nature of the programming. Some other programming gets significantly lower ratings, but draw more prominent advertisers because the content of the programming is considered less risque/violent or more "mainstream" or socially acceptable than wrestling. I'm quite sure that, even though the ratings for UPN's Thurs. night lineup are fairly low compared to Smackdown at this point, the ad revenue they're getting for the night is probably far greater . . . and it's all about the Benjamins, baby . . . . BruiserKC 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 The split has been a joke from day one. It would have worked out great if they actually took the time and pains to make both shows of a quality that they were worth watching at the same time. When RAW has been up, Smackdown has been in the shitter. When Smackdown is doing great, RAW blows chunks. Also...the idea was to give more TV time to the wrestlers and give them a chance to break through. The only ones that have really gotten developed and the real chance to shine as far as being new are Batista, Cena, Brock, and JBL. Not a hell of a great track record over the last three years. Of course, there would be a huge purging of the roster if the split ends unless they keep both shows. Even then a lot of talent would head for the door.
