Graduate/Professional school

Anybody on here who's graduating college this year or will do so in the next year or two applying to graduate or professional school? I know Dama may go for journalism. Meanwhile I'm applying for law school this year, and the LSAT is one tough motherfucker.

I graduated December '04 and I'm in grad school now. I just had to take the GRE.

I'm still torn.

 

I really have no desire to go far away for graduate school. I'll finish my 2nd B.A. in May 2006 so I really don't know what I want to do.

 

I'm sure UNO would be a reasonable option for my graduate studies as they have both of my fields, but at the same time, I'm burning out on school. I've been considering just getting a teaching certification and teaching for a few years on the high school level and maybe work my way through graduate school a little bit at a time.

 

My degrees will be in Government (Political Science) and History. Both are academic degrees that you really can't just stop at the B.A. level. In a perfect world, I would get a T.A. spot somewhere and get my M.A. in Public Administration and get a decent white collar government job locally and maybe get elected to a position in local politics.

I took time off between undergrad and grad school. I graduated in May of 2003 and started my first semester of an MBA program this fall. I just had to take the GMAT for that. Let me say that the GMAT pales in comparison to the LSAT. That fucking thing is a bitch. And getting drunk before you call to get your test score doesn't help. It really makes things worse.

I'm in the same boat as smitty, I'm in graduate school now and all I had to take was the GRE.

 

I have a friend who is currently in law school; we looked at practice problems together and I thought the LSAT was difficult - but that's probably why I am a scientist. Good luck, whatever you decide.

Depends on your profession.

 

Some are more apt to look at experience and proof of your skills moreso than paper.

I'm in grad school for International Studies after getting a BA in History. If you can find a job in your field with a bachelor's than don't wast your time unless you love your field so much you want to be a Prof.

Grad school in mathematics at the U of Oregon. I find out this week if I passed my qualifying exams or not, which would move me from the pre-PhD program to the PhD program. I've already qualified for a Masters, I just need to fill out the paperwork.

If you're looking at it for the first time, like I did back in June, the test looks like it's in a foreign language. Thankfully, I've done enough practice tests that I'm scoring in the low to mid 160s, so that should get me into Temple, Villanova, or Penn State with my GPA if I don't pull a chokejob on Saturday.

 

However, if I get lucky and get in the 165-167 range, I'm probably going to apply early decision to Notre Dame as my top school and hope that getting an A on my senior thesis which I did a year early helps me in the admissions.
