DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 Nothing really interesting here except confirmation that they are negotiating with Tatanka... just weird to see this sort of thing pop up on WWE.com... or it would have been weird 6 months ago but that's just their way these days: Kristal – The former 2005 RAW Diva Search contestant reported to Deep South Wrestling (a WWE developmental system) last week. The WWE hopeful admits to getting off to rough start. “I signed up for the 8:00 a.m. class, and in Mr. Bill Demott’s (Kristal’s trainer) language, that means be there at 7:30, not get there at 8:00,” said Marshall. “I learned that the hard way. On my first day of training, I actually threw up twice.” Despite the rough start, Kristal plans on persevering. “Every day I wake up and go to practice and I’m scared,” admitted Kristal. “But after you do it, you feel so accomplished. Never, ever in my life have I done 800 squats consecutively in one day. I try to set small goals for myself every day and try to hit them. If I keep doing that I think I’ll be on my way. It’s hard work, but it’s something I want to do, and I’m not going to stop until I learn what I came here to learn. One day at a time.” Elisabeth – The second runner-up in the 2005 RAW Diva Search reported to Ohio Valley Wrestling (a WWE developmental system) last week. After only one week of action, her trainer Al Snow has already noticed great enthusiasm. “She’s very athletic and really wants to do this,” said Snow. “She was hurting after her first day, but she wasn’t daunted by any means and continued to work very hard the two days that we had an opportunity to get in the ring.” Enthusiasm aside, Snow knows that she’s going to need to do more to be accepted. “She’s going to have to earn her spot with everybody,” commented the former World Tag Team Champion. “But from what I can tell, she certainly looked like she was handling herself just fine. They didn’t exclude her, but they didn’t go out of their way to talk to her, either.” Tatanka – WWE is in negotiations with former Native American Superstar Tatanka. More details will become available early next week. Mike “The Miz” Mizanin – Former Tough Enough contestant Mizanin is currently training in Atlanta’s Deep South Wrestling. Despite his busy training schedule, The Miz is also in negotiations to appear on Fear Factor and a reality show for MTV

CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 Why are they training girls? They're just going to be in T&A matches anyways.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 Least they are bothering to train these girls. I feel really bad for the woman (Ashley? Or something) that won. She has been thrown to the wolves being asked to learn from Candice and Torrie.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 But what's the point in training them at all? Sure, they'll wrestle in "serious" matches for about a week, but they'll just be back to T&A matches after a while. Remember when Stacy "wrestled"? Or Christy? Or Torrie back when the women champion went on both shows? It's a waste of time. If they want attractive female wrestlers, there are some on the indy scene. Don't waste everyone's time by training models in a failing effort to find the next Trish Stratus.

Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 Why are they training girls? They're just going to be in T&A matches anyways. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Most T&A matches do employ wrestling. Sure, they don't need to be doing 800 squats a day, but you can't just throw someone in the ring and expect them to something even as simple as a Bra & Panties match. It would be one thing if the girls were long time wrestling fans, and thus had knowledge of how a match works in the back of their mind, but it's relatively safe to say they have nothing in there. CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 You need to get trained to do a bra and panties match? I'm sorry, but no you don't. Yes, girls do some real moves in the match, but it's hardly necessary. They can roll around and do a cutsie rollup spot and that's enough. There's really no reason to waste time training girls when they can have a match to the same effect without the training.
Guest JMA Report post Posted October 9, 2005 Is Tatanka going to form a team with Eugene or something? I know WWE is desperate for tag teams, but that just seems...weird. Eugene should turn heel soon anyways, as he's been getting heel heat every other night he goes out to the ring. Some places still cheer him, no doubt, but there seems to be an equal chance that he'll get booed.

In all honesty, Trish should just retire her title and do something else--just as long as she doesn't feud with Lita.
Fökai 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 Remember when Stacy "wrestled"? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> She hasn't reacted to training at all. Or Christy? She never trained to begin with. If they want attractive female wrestlers, there are some on the indy scene. Gail Kim didn't set the precedent well, even if it wasn't her fault. Don't waste everyone's time by training models in a failing effort to find the next Trish Stratus. Trish took only took TWO years to be at the top of the division with Molly. It won't take long to find out if they can be the next Trish Stratus - Ashley can certainly work her way there, so can Michelle McCool. The company conventiently forgets that they protected Trish during her first set of matches - even as far as the Women's Title match at Survivor Series 2001, she still looked awkward in the ring. Guest JMA Report post Posted October 9, 2005 The main problem with the female division is the fact that even when there were good workers in the division, they still didn't have enough of them. An ideal division would have at least ten female wrestlers and occassional indy wrestlers losing to them. If they want to try and train the new divas, they should put the division on hold for a while. I don't care about it now, but that's what they should do if they want to rebuild it. CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 My point wasn't that if Stacy, Torrie or Christy were trained. My point was that all three of them wrestled seriously for about a month, and went right back to doing T&A matches, thus training females that are intended for T&A is rendered useless. And the reason why Trish is such a success isn't because she was an unlikely candidate to be a good wrestler, although that certainly helped. Trish has an attitude to her than makes you want to watch her. Ashley doesn't. Ashley's boring who has unique ring attire to make up for it. So training these models is stupid, especially if they don't have any real passion other than "well, this is a new challenge!".

Why didn't (or don't) Trish, Victoria, Lita, Molly and Gail Kim regularly wrestle T&A matches? Each one of them were given serious storylines to run with for a while. All five have had countless matches where the commentary focused on their ring ablility. You ever notice that with Stacy? Torrie? The line between "female wrestler" and "restricted to T&A matches" isn't that subtle. Christy, even if she trained, came in as a serious wrestler when Trish wrestled her last match. She's a victim of circumstances, given that the only woman left in the division at that time was Victoria. The feud would've continued after that if Trish were healthy. Trish has an attitude to her than makes you want to watch her. Ashley doesn't. Are we comparing Trish 2000 to Ashley 2005?
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 Yes, I am comparing Trish '00 to Ashley '05. Oh, and I must have missed the countless Trish matches where her in ring ability was reconized. Maybe Lawler screaming PUPPIES distracted me. I have no idea what you are arguing to me about. It's pointless to train females who have no desire to be wrestlers. If they did, they would have gotten trained beforehand like Molly, Lita, Gail Kim and yes, even Trish (she trained briefly before her WWF debut). Training T&A is a waste of everyone's time. Fökai 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 Yes, I am comparing Trish '00 to Ashley '05. Oh, and I must have missed the countless Trish matches where her in ring ability was reconized. Maybe Lawler screaming PUPPIES distracted me. Why is she considered the dominant female in the company? What justifies that - her head-crushing thighs or something? I have no idea what you are arguing to me about. It's pointless to train females who have no desire to be wrestlers.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fine. T&A matches involves some sort of coordination, though. The girls can do all the posedowns they want, but the fans will yawn when there's little to build the character besides showing off her newest bikini. At the very least, they're going to further storylines for male wrestlers, possibly taking bumps or running the ropes. I had assumed that this was they were training them for, in order not to expose the business as Ashley seems to love. f they did, they would have gotten trained beforehand like Molly, Lita, Gail Kim and yes, even Trish (she trained briefly before her WWF debut). Training T&A is a waste of everyone's time. WCW and WWF both were bidding for Trish's services. Surely, it wasn't because of her in-ring skill. She didn't step into the ring for an advertised match until four months after she debuted. EDIT: Again, the company itself is to blame. But this argument is using the logic that they're already under contract, so that contract must be justified. EDIT 2: I guess that they're only under a developmental contract, which means "no harm, no foul" until they're called up to the main roster.

CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 Bravesfan, I actually have no idea what we are even arguing about, so I'm just going to stop. Mike, I'm not blaming Trish in the slightest. I was just wondering about bravefan's comment about the commentary focusing on her in ring ability. Whenever they do, they made sure to talk about how hot she is.
