Yokozuna over Savage at Road to WrestleMania 9. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think the upset would have been the other way around on the Yoko match. As for Blake F'N Beverly beating Bret Hart on a Dusty Finish or not . . . WOW!
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Ron Simmons over Vader for the WCW title was something of a shock for me at the time.

Yokozuna over Savage at Road to WrestleMania 9. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think the upset would have been the other way around on the Yoko match. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Savage was still being protected and Yoko hadn't faced anyone higher than Virgil or Koko B. Ware on TV. To get a semi-clean pin on free TV was a shock to me. Here's the Hart match: WWF @ Brandon, Manitoba - Keystone Centre - September 22, 1992 (6,000) Wrestling Challenge taping: Prime Time Wrestling - 10/12/92: Bret Hart defeated Blake Beverly (w/ the Genius) via reverse decision; Blake had originally won the match at 10:10 with a double axe handle after Bret became distracted by Beau at ringside, forcing him to release the Sharpshooter; Sgt. Slaughter came ringside to tell the referee what had happened and the decision was overruled

Ware on TV. To get a semi-clean pin on free TV was a shock to me. Yoko by that point was headed to the main event of Wrestlemania against Bret. It would definitely be an upset to have him job beforehand to Savage.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2005 I thought it was pretty shocking when Rick Rude won the IC Title at Wrestlemania V. Warrior was just on fire at that point and was destroying everybody.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 Public Enemy over Harlem Heat for the Tag Titles a few weeks prior to Halloween Havoc 1996, and the hyped up Heat/Outsiders Tag Title match. No one expected this, as TPE were fodder for the Nasty Boys and not being elevated at all. It was speculated (on TV) that perhaps the Outsiders saw TPE as easier opponents. Heat won the belts back a week later or two.
Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 Wasn't there a jobber team from a NWA Tag tourney in the late 80's that won a couple of matches before eventually getting defeated? Wish I could remember the name though. I remember being stunned when Balckman was beating Shamrock, but I was a Shamrock mark at the time. Rocky Maivia beating HHH for IC belt for the first time. Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 Arn Anderson over Hulk Hogan in 96. Twice! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Heck, not just in '96 as a whole, it was in the span of a single week. The first time by pinfall then one week later by DQ.

Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Alex Wright over Chris Benoit on Nitro. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Speaking of which, Benoit was just coming off his feud with Raven and immediately jobs clean to Scott Norton on the very next Thunder.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Another weird/unexpected title change: One Man Gang beating Kensuke Sasaki for the WCW US Title in late 1995. I remember seeing this match on TV, and the announcer were hardly paying attention. One Man Gang got a win out of nowhere and Tony Schiavone said something like "Hey, how about that? A title change!" Nice. It was kind of weird since OMG wasn't getting a huge push or anything at the time.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 It wasn't an upset when it happened, but it can be looked back on as one now: Alex Wright over Jean-Paul LeVesque at Starrcade 1994.
Chazz 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2005 Shelton Benjamin over Gene Snitsky clean via pinfall earlier this year on Raw. I add this not only because of Snitsky's push at the time, but also because of Vince McMahon's fetish of Big Wrestlers In general.

Sting handed it over to Sasaki with little fanfare, Sasaki to OMG (who was relatively new to WCW at that point), and OMG to Konnan.
