Part 4 was pretty shitty. I've seen worse, though, and at least it had some cute chicks.

 

But this shit ain't doing it for me. I'm gonna have to go watch Fulci's "Zombi" after this to cleanse my palate.

So far, these really suck. At least Sci Fi lets them get away with some decent gore, and part 5 is supossed to have the Tarman. Still, it's just not "Return of the Living Dead" IMO. I mean come on, the zombies can be killed via a bullet to the head in these new ones, while in the older ROTLD films, they were impossible to kill. Plus, the music sucks, and well...they are pretty much the greasy shits.

 

I'm very disappointed in these. I was really looking forward to them, and in the end, I'm only let down.

I dug the third act of part four. It was mucho gory, a tad bit suspenseful, and

the annoying kid gets killed

.

 

But then again, there was a lot of stupid garbage. While I love the ROTLD films, I'm not going to fault them for establishing zombie mortality. But while it does get tiring to see the same old headshots over and over again, a few shots to chest should not kill a zombie. Hell, stretch things and say that the heart or brain being destroyed will kill them, but shots to the chest are bullshit.

 

The uber-soldiers were a BIG disappointment. By the time they got brought out, just about everyone that was going to die had died. That's the same problem one could have with Jason X, but at least uber-Jason was shown to be indestructible before he was ejected into the atmosphere.

 

The characters weren't even characters. They were the goofy blonde haired girl (who is only goofy one time in the movie), the black kid, the regular guy, etc. Those ATV sequences were ridiculous, especially the random Godsmack song.

 

The zombies talked too much. Period.

 

I dug the gore though, and as I said before, loved the last third. And ohhh yeah, Peter Coyote rocks.

 

 

As for Part 5, pretty much awful. I liked some of the humor with the Romanian thugs (although a lot of it was really bad), the Tarman ending, and a couple scattered bits. But for the most part, terrible. Using the actors twice, and even having Peter Coyote still be the one kid's uncle, was lame.

Good work Vyce. Im glad someone else enjoys this classic zombie movie as much as I do.

The eye gouging scene is one of the best things ever!

I think one of the main things that I hated about these two movies (other than the bad attempts at humor (except for the ending with Tarman. That got a good laugh out of me. As did the scene with the guy running from the zombies, and running up to a car, with it's passengers being too stupid to pick him up, and basically leaving him behind), the bad acting, the bad attempts at drama, the annoying charaters (except for Peter Coyote), and the fact that they just all around sucked) is that they just tdidn't feel like sequals to "Return of the Living Dead". They just felt like really bad tributes. I'm really disappointed in this, especially considering that I've been looking forward to these for a while.

 

At least they weren't the worst zombie movies I've seen. Those would be "House of the Dead" and "All Souls Day"

All All Souls Day was awful. I still contend that the bitchy girl at the beginning who yells at her handicapped brother was handing out blowjobs to the cast and crew to get that part.

I just watched Necropolis. Absolutely awful, save for the part 4 end where...well, it was mentioned in spoilers above. Glaring errors, everywhere. "I Stand Alone" for the "let's get our intelligence together" montage? Dear God.

 

If Part 5 started with "I Wanna Get Psycho" by Disturbed, it would be cool. But it looked like one continuous big turd of a movie, so I stopped.

 

The "using actors twice" thing...well, it was a continuous movie. What happened with the uncle in pt4 continued at pt5.

Not even so bad they are funny, these are just so bad that they are BAD. I haven't seen movies this bad well ever.

 

The series should have stopped at 3. Hell, really it should have stopped at 2.

There's a lot of fans of Brian Yuzna's unique takes on movies and Melinda Clarke's breasts that would argue.

 

Personally, I think 2 had no point other than to make horror fans look like idiots. 3 was at least new and not super insulting.

 

BTW, Aimee Lynn Chadwick is fucking awesome. Her band kicks ass, too.
