DerangedHermit 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 So how many years will it take before a white guy courageously breaks the color barrier on New York's NL team? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> HAY GUYZ I like the trade, even though it hurts to see Jacobs being moved. But then again, Carlos FUCKING DELGADO!
mike546 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 The problem is, Cashman is down right refusing to trade Cano and Wang, and thats basically the only way the Yanks will make a big move. I read in the Daily News yesterday Cashman turned down Cano and Wang for Beckett and Lowell, and then Wang, Duncan and another prospect.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 First off, do any of you notice the Mets would trade a latino AWAY in this trade? Yusemeiro Petit is from Venezuela. Being latino isn't enough to make the Mets. You have to be Dominican. Petit would have been a huge part of any Manny deal. I don't see the Mets getting him now. Al, they're gonna put Cabrera at 3rd base. They've said as much.

Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Manny wants to go to Seattle or Anaheim Link Manny Ramirez’ fondest wish – currently – is to play for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim or the Seattle Mariners. The AL West rivals, according to a source close to the Red Sox left fielder, top the list of teams he wants to be traded to. Still, it is no secret around baseball that Ramirez has been known to change his mind and that his current desire to be traded could cool altogether. The Angels were known to be on Ramirez’ list of desirable teams since last month but Seattle was not considered to be in play. A Mariners source said last night that the club has not been focused on Ramirez but trying to obtain a left-handed slugger to complement righties Adrian Beltre and Richie Sexson. It is not known why Ramirez is fond of Seattle, but familiarity with manager Mike Hargrove, who managed Ramirez in Cleveland, is likely a factor. David Ortiz made it sound as if the Red Sox were virtually bound and determined to trade the unhappy Ramirez. “Manny is not returning to Boston,” Ortiz said at a news conference in Santo Domingo on Monday. “Manny lives a difficult situation that only he and his family know about, and he does not want to play there. “I spoke with him last week before he left for Brazil and he told me that he wants to go to a team in the West.” Before discovering he had finished second in the AL MVP balloting, Ortiz had spent a couple of weeks in Boston and met with the Red Sox front office. “I found out that they are doing whatever is possible to trade him,” Ortiz said. Ichiro doesn't like Hargrove and Manny does. Somebody get the Seattle front office drugged up so they agree to a Manny for Ichiro deal!

Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Shouldn't that be the other way around? No way man Ichiro > Manny Oh, and the Red Sox are trying to aquire Texas 1B Adrian Gonzalez according to the Boston Globe Link Meanwhile, according to two major league sources, the Sox have spoken with the Texas Rangers about trading for first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2000 draft. The 23-year-old Gonzalez, who hits lefthanded, split last season between Triple A Oklahoma and Texas. He hit .338 with 18 homers and 65 RBIs in 326 at-bats with Oklahoma, .227 with 6 homers and 17 RBIs in 150 at-bats with Texas. While the Rangers are believed to be interested in acquiring an outfield prospect, possibly Double A outfielder Brandon Moss, the Sox are likelier to offer up Triple A catcher Kelly Shoppach. Shoppach is a native of Fort Worth. If the Sox were to acquire Gonzalez, they could go with a first-base platoon of Gonzalez and the righthanded-hitting Kevin Youkilis. Youkilis appeared likely to start at third base in 2006 until the deal for Beckett, which required the Sox to take on Lowell, a Gold Glove winner at third base who is scheduled to make $9 million each of the next two seasons. devo 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 The Mets are loading up on bad contracts. Terrible deal. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're right. What's more, the Mets will probably be paying Wagner $10 million for the next few years.
Guest Report post Posted November 23, 2005 If they needed a 1st baseman, why couldn't they just try to trade for Adrian Gonzalez or make a signing? With the contracts of Beltran and Delgado, that team's going to be in big financial trouble within the next few years.

Guest Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Ichiro's going to retire in a few years and he obviously started his decline last year.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Manny's not even going to show up to Spring Training though supposedly. Red Sox save a ton of cash in the deal, get a lead-off hitter that can get on base and get himself into scoring position on walks and singles via a stolen base. He's also still very good defensively. Ichiro's contract only runs through the 07 season too so no biggie.
Guest Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Damon's average and OBP% last year were better than Ichiro's. I'm not saying that Boston should sign Damon, but that Ichiro's in big decline.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 I don't think there are many people that could improve on the 2004 numbers Ichiro put up. Maybe one or two of them but not all, so of course its going to look as though he's in decline. He wasn't happy in Seattle last season either from the sounds of things, and speaking from personal experience you just aren't going to be at your best if you're unhappy. Besides saving $35mill overall the Red Sox would also gain extra revenue from Japan via all the Ichiro Red Sox merchandise. If Ichiro is willing to play CF then it would be a deal I would have no problem with Boston making.

mike546 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 ESPN radio 1000 is reporting Cubs sign Bob Howry to a 3 year 12 million dollar contract. sfaJack 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 I don't get Hendry's thinking at all. $30 mil for two middle relievers? They tell Nomar to talk a walk and sign Perez, Eyre, and now Howry? Yes, the Cubs bullpen was a problem, but it's the last piece of a championship puzzle. Their lineup is a more pressing concern and they haven't done anything to address it yet. Except sign Neifi, of course.

Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Delgado is Puerto Rican, so the only Dominican players get traded to the Mets thing doesn't fly. And you have to be drugged to think Ichiro is better than Ramirez. Ramirez gets on base more often than Ichiro, actually gets more than just singles, more home runs, slugging, total bases, runs created, walks, OPS, I could go on and on.
