Precious Roy Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Since when does a baseball game on FOX start so early?!? I missed the entire pre-game intros and the 1st inning
therealworldschampion Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Asshole vs. Asshole here, Pierzynski vs. Clemens.
JasonX Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Asshole vs. Asshole here, Pierzynski vs. Clemens. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why is Pierzynski an asshole again? Clemens, everyone knows why and then some. But AJ Pierzynski?
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Because he had the audacity to make a heads up play.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Pierzynski's had an asshole reputation for quite some time. And he's one of the few players whose reputation may be legitimate.
Bruiser Chong Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 I recall a story from spring training during his days with the Giants in which he was hit in the junk by a pitch, the trainer came out and asked if he was okay, and responded to by hitting him in his jewels. And leave it to dickhead Clemens to suck and get hurt the one time I'm pulling for him.
Bored Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Edit: I see Bruiser mentioned it already. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPG6IAQNH81.DTL During a Giants exhibition game last spring, Pierzynski took a shot to his, shall we say, private parts. Trainer Stan Conte rushed to the scene, placed his hands on Pierzynski's shoulders in a reassuring way, and asked how it felt. "Like this," said Pierzynski, viciously delivering a knee to Conte's groin. The guy is a chicken shit who is one of the most hated players in the game by his peers.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Well the Sox don't seem to have a problem with him...
Bruiser Chong Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 See, this is why I don't totally back smallball. You get the first two guys on and have your DH bunt them over. Obviously they're going to walk Rowand and thus, it's up to Pierzinski, a guy built for the double-play. And as a Cubs fan, I find it a bit maddening to see Bernie Mac there decked out in Sox gear going crazy for them. I know, he supports the city of Chicago. But still.

Guest Brian Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Isn't that the same thing Wilbon did on PtI?
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Is the Astros' new strategy to get hit by pitches all the time now?
Bruiser Chong Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 I know the Sox have great pitching, but this inning is a shining example of why I don't think the Astros deserve to be here.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Is the Astros' new strategy to get hit by pitches all the time now? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's been Biggio's strategy for 15 years.
therealworldschampion Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Ozzie's signal for Bobby Jenks was hysterical
Bruiser Chong Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Gotta believe this game's going to the Sox. I knew going into the 8th that if the Astros had a shot, they had to score then with their big hitters coming up. With Lane, Ausmus, and Everett due in the 9th, the Sox more or less have this thing locked.
mike546 Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Why in the world did the Angels release Jenks? I don't care what problems he had, he thros the ball 100 MPH and has a nasty breaking ball.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Why in the world did the Angels release Jenks? I don't care what problems he had, he thros the ball 100 MPH and has a nasty breaking ball. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jenks had no control, personality issues, and arm problems.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 I would add that Jenks had a 10.73 ERA last year over three levels of the minors, in 19.1 IP. 16 walks and 21 strikeouts. I'd be tempted to cut loose a player like that too.
Precious Roy Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 It's amazing how he's bounced back to be so dominant this year. Billy Koch 2005 anyone? Closers like him blow people away at first, then come back to earth once the arm slows down a bit and hitters learn to work around the lack of control
Bruiser Chong Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Hacking away at everything will make anyone look better.
Bored Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Jenks is a career ruining, John Rocker, type of interview with Sports Illustrated waiting to happen. He's apparantly dumb as a post and there is a rumor, I stress rumor, that he may have been a member of the Aryan Nation at one point. Hell I'm shocked no media outlet has jumped on that one yet.
King Kamala Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 And as a Cubs fan, I find it a bit maddening to see Bernie Mac there decked out in Sox gear going crazy for them. I know, he supports the city of Chicago. But still. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Me too. I was asking my wife, "Since when is he a Sox fan?" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I read an interview in ESPN magazine or something with him when Mr. 3000 came out and he said growing up, he was always a White Sox fan and he was mad that The Cubs got all the attention but that he doesn't hate The Cubs.
Bruiser Chong Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 If I believed in curses and jinxes, I'd declare that Mac was the White Sox's Trojan Horse in 2003.
MikeJordan23 Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Does Brandon Backe's mic'ed up segments annoy anyone else? I want to bitch slap him.
Just John Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Nothing wrong with getting excited and pumped up for your team. Although, I would like them to mic up some other people too.
Guest Wart Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 AIM chat at TSMBaseball. Al endorses it.
iggymcfly Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 I'm not into AIM chats, but I just want to point out that the second half of the inning there was what baseball's all about. None of this try to get somebody on base before you bash the ball over the fence. The Sox got multiple hits, ran the bases, and scored two runs. If everybody played that way, I'd watch a hell of a lot more baseball.
Bruiser Chong Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 Adam Everett has no business holding a postseason spot on a MLB team.
