Dimensions 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 - At the October 15 WWE show in Hawaii, Victoria wrestled her match in street clothes as her luggage arrived too late and didn't make it to the show. - The Rock appeared on "The Late Show With David Letterman" to promote his new movie, "Doom". The Rock said he just wrapped two other movies. Dave talked about Rock's wrestling and football background. Well, actually they talked more about football. They talked about USC's 27th victory in a row. Dave asked Rock if he had fond memories about University of Miami. Rock mentioned Warren Sapp and told a story about a game where there was a bench clearing brawl against San Diego State. Rock said he looked over and saw their mascot on the sidelines taunting UM. Rock ran into the stands and after all the fines were levied the worst was the phone call from his mom. Dave showed the videotape of the incident. Funny stuff. After the commercial Dave showed a picture from a scene he did with Sarah Michelle Gellar from an upcoming movie. Rock said that this photo was in the tabloids. His wife questioned him on it when she saw it but explained that it was from the movie. Rock looks to have lost some weight. Then they showed a clip from "Doom". It was another good interview from the Rock.. Again, Rock didn't mention WWE by name. - The PWTorch Newsletter reports that Triple H is not a backer of Jim Ross backstage. It all goes back to what happened years ago, when Jim Ross was playing hardball with Triple H when working out a new contract. Triple H felt that Ross was treating him as a second-tier talent, rather than the main eventer he is. Years later, when HHH expressed his frustration with that, Vince told Hunter that he should have just came to him to talk about it. Which is interesting because it was Vince's very own orders that JR was carrying out at the time. Some feel that one other thing that has been working against Ross, aside from stepping down from his full-time position at WWE headquarters, is how vocal he has been against the current direction of the company. Especially with Stephanie McMahon, when it comes to "sports" versus "entertainment", and which one should come before the other. - - A brief article has been added regarding the current health status of Jim Ross after going through colon surgery yesterday. Jim Ross is said to be "hanging tough" after colon surgery yesterday, according to J.R.'s wife, Jan. "Yesterday and today have been a little tough," said Jan Ross. "But we are very happy with how the surgery went. He is in great hands and is being taken care of." - Footage of Saliva lead singer Josey Scott working on the theme music for Batista at WWE Headquarters has been posted on WWE.com - A new "CoachCast" has been added to WWE.com with Mick Foley as The Coach's guest this week. The Coach is more 'suttle' this week. - WWE has 6/11/06 penciled in for One Night Stand II. - WWE is releasing the "Divas Uncovered" book on 10/25. - John Cena and JBL will be appearing at the American Freedom Festival in New York City on 11/11. - Kid Kash was originally scheduled to work this past weekends SmackDown! brand house shows but was pulled because of a dress code infraction. Kash was at the TV tapings last week and was present during Vince McMahon' meeting about being late and the dress code. Kash was apparently seen by agents at the airport in jeans and a t-shirt at 5AM. Kash was removed because of this and replaced with Nunzio. Kash has been sent back to Deep South Wrestling and there are actually some who believe his job could be in danger because of this. Managements feeling is that there are loads of other guys who would love to be a part of the main roster and would be willing to follow the 'rules'. - Mike Mondo was fined and banned from OVW house shows after cursing during a show in Austin, Indiana on Friday. The feeling right now is that he'll be back when the situation calms down. There was fear that they may lose an advertising deal from it. - The Big Show will be on WWE.com's Byte This program. - The Bret Hart DVD, which will be released on 11/15, will be six hours and nine minutes long. - According to a Charlotte Observer poll, Trish Stratus and Torrie Wilson were voted the most beautiful women in sports, ahead of Danica Patrick, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova. haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Another intertesting thing that I picked up from LordsofPain. Apparently Low Ki called WWE asking for work. He said he's tired of wrestling overseas, and is blackballed from TNA for whatever reason, so his options in the states are pretty limited. To make a long story short, WWE told him he was too stiff and there was very little chance he could find work with them. Heres a link to the story: http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/2005_/arti.../1129696364.php

Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 - Ken Shamrock, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman have signed "Legends of Wrestling" merchadise deals with Jakks Pacific for future action figure releases. - Brock Lesnar will defend the IWGP title on 1/4 against Kazuyuki Fujita. - C.W. Anderson had recent liver problems that he attributes to food supplements. - Looks like the former Spike Dudley is going to wrestle under his real name, Matt Hyson. credit: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, 10/17/05 Brock Lesnar and WWE are heading back to court. A settlement conference is scheduled for Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Bridgeport, CT. credit: pwinsider.com Who Betta Than Law Enforcement? Well it was 5AM in the morning so I have a feeling the last thing on his mind was putting on a suit, tie, dress shoes, etc just so he can walk thru the airport and get on the plane. Besides it's not like Kash has been on SD alot and the WWE fans are going to know who he is.
SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Kash hasn't even been on Smackdown at all yet, just that one Velocity match. I think WWE has gotten carried away with this dress code issue. There are far bigger problems in the company than how the wrestlers are dressed while walking through an airport.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 I just don't understand that dress code at all. If I was in charge, I'd have a dress code, but it would be more along the lines of having everyone dress "in character" when traveling for shows and anything else having to do with WWE business. Isn't that the, *ahem*, logical thing to do?
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 No, you want the wrestlers to look professional so when people see them in the airport they say "Wow, those wrestlers must make lots of money if they can walk around in suits like that. They're legitimate."

I don't agree that a suit & tie should be mandatory, and I think that they should be able to wear what they want. But should someone that was saddled with a stupid gimmick <coughKerwinWhitecough> have to dress a certain way all the time?
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Have you SEEN what they wear? People don't respect other people who wear fanny packs and acid wash jeans. I know I don't.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Dress codes are fucking retarded. Seriously, who the fuck are we or the company to care about what WRESTLERS wear outside of the arena? I know I don't. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In the grand scheme of things, the respect people have for 'sports entertainers' is pretty limited to begin with. Having said that, though, I couldn't agree more. Nothing was funnier than Austin storming the ring in his denim shorts and fanny pack, looking to kick ass but looking more like a guy that can't find his daughter's at 6 Flags. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 when, exactly, is this dress code enforced? If it's for WWE related deals i.e. appearances, flights taking them to and from shows, etc. sure they should dress decently...
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Because in wrestling, appearance = reality. If WWE wrestlers look like they're rich and high class, then hey, the WWE is a high class organization that is making lots of money. Of course, watching a second of their programming would prove otherwise. But you have to remember rule #1 in the WWE: Never blame the product.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 In the grand scheme of things, the respect people have for 'sports entertainers' is pretty limited to begin with. That's because the people have an out-dated view of sports entertainers, you see. That's their fault. And the medias. I truly feel sorry for the WWE. They have to fight this uphill battle to try and change the perception of their organization and their sports entertainers, and in reality, they have to fight against decades of fashoin faux pas. No one has any respect for these guys. When Brock tried out for the vikings, people who do the NFL on ESPN made fun of him saying that "Oh, football's real and this isn't fake like wrestling, etc, etc." Made me sick. They're legitimate." I know when I tuned into Raw and saw Ross and Lawler commentating the show in suits, it immediately transformed stuff like the Kane/Lita/Snitsky angle into intelligent, highbrow entertainment! I just don't understand that dress code at all. I always assumed it was an image thing. They want to portray a better of image of their company and wrestlers by having them dress better. Of course, one would think this would also apply to the kind of stuff they put on television, but this is the WWE we're talking about here.
Dimensions 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Source: PWInsider.com Last night on Canadian sports talk show Off The Record, Mick Foley revealed that he is exempt from the WWE dress code because the way he dresses is "his look". He also stated that he disagrees with the Jim Ross firing, but feels that Ross would be back on TV, at least once more, for the Steve Austin match at WrestleMania. The Rock will be a guest on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central. John Cena, The Undertaker, and Kane have all been exempt from the dress code in the past. However now even Undertaker wears slacks and polo shirts while traveling with WWE. Black slacks and shirts, of course. It's also likely that Kane would have to wear something like that as well these days. Cena travels wearing pretty much what you see him wearing on TV every week. Guest Fook Report post Posted October 20, 2005 While I understand wanting to project a certain image, some guys simply don't belong in suits. The dress code works for some wrestlers because it fits their character (JBL, Flair). But if Cena ever came out to the ring in a suit, the fans would shit all over it. Every time Shawn Michaels comes out in a suit, I notice how completely out of place it looks. It's like he's going to start selling bibles for a living rather than wrestling. Guest rawmvp Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Regarding the WrestleMania DVD's and Jesse Ventura's commentary (from Meltzer): "I don't know, but I would presume no Ventura commentary on the Mania DVD's. Ventura's commentary will stay on 24/7 projects, but because of his lawsuit that he won years ago, he'd get a percentage of any tapes or DVD's with his commentary and they'd rather erase his voice than pay him that percentage."
