NFL Week 8

Recommended Posts

Guest *KNK*
The Packers lost to a damn good Bengals team by just 7 points, and aside from their opening week loss, 14-3 at Detroit, they have lost byno more than 3 points up until this week. They could easily be 5-2 or maybe 6-1 witha few breaks, and they're doing really well considering they're without their best receiver, Javon Walker, their best running back, Ahman Green, Najeh Davenport, and others.

With those guys, they'd have a much better record, but even without, they're barely losing. In the sorry NFC North, they could still win the division at 8-8.

Still, it hurts to see them lose so often...

going 7-2 for the rest of the season would be an incredible daunting task for the Packers (Pit, ATL, PHI, CHI, DET, BALT, CHI, SEA)...I can see maybe 4 wins out of that stretch. 7-9 could be enough to win out the NFC North.

I wouldn't put hopes on it.

I gotta ask... What was Jeff Garcia doing in there after the hit to the head that he took late in the 4th?

Looked to me like he was concussed. You don't want a concussed QB in there in overtime; case in point, today.

The Lions have zero faith in Harrington now...short of Garcia being carried off the field on a stretcher they weren't putting Joey back in.

Even so, you need every decision in overtime to be a good one, as one bad decision means the end of the game. As bad as Harrington's been, he's more likely to make the right decision at that point than Garcia was.

Harrington's years of poor judgments and stagnant, un-improving performance is the deal also. With what they built around Detroit with Rogers, Williams, and Kevin Jones...there was NO excuse for being as stale as they are right now. Orton doesn't have that type of firepower around him...although Muhammad, Benson, and Thomas Jones are nothing to sneeze at. But you see the improvement every week with him and Orton can be the Bears QB of the future.

Harrington's pretty much done in Detroit unless Garcia just completely breaks down...even then it's not a guarantee he'll see anymore snaps in D-town.

21-0

Wow the Eagles suck.

Someone just told me they think Philly is giving this one away so they are "fresh" for the division teams... I just said "No. They just suck. simple as that".

I actually think the Bears seem reasonably decent and should finish above .500 in that division. I'm calling them at 9-7.

Anyone else think the Giants might be the best in the NFC?

It's scary but it might be true. Philly appears to have died. Atlanta is still good but who knows with them.

Can someone explain this Jake Plummer thing? Am I the only just waiting to see him wake up and realize he's Jake Plummer and suck again?

Wow, I'm shocked, seriously shocked that the Eagles have really disappointed this year. What in all f'ing hell is wrong with them? Is it a tougher schedule this year, or anyone really important that they've lost, coaching, McNabb, what?

Something about Jeff Garcia for Lions fans to remember, is that he was really rushed back, probably too quickly, from a broken ankle, and hasn't gotten enough time to get comfortable with the offense to truly be effective yet in Detroit.

Maybe the Giants are the best team in the NFC, and noone in the AFC outside of Indy looks really intimidating...

You know what that means! MANNING BOWL

Which would essentially shatter all previous hype levels to pieces. Two weeks of the NFL's "Owen Vs Bret" storyline would be too much for the networks and the media to resist. Factor in the story of the Giant's beloved owner dying mid-season and the history of Harrison/Peyton...WOW.

the only thing that could beat it is if GB makes that miracle comeback and makes the SB and plays Indy.

I feel bad for the defense. It is bad enough playing a solid offense, but when your own offense can't give you more than a 3 play break you're a sitting duck. Granted they aren't playing great themselves, but they are getting no help.

And McNabb just flat out sucks right now. He is back to throwing at gophers instead of to receivers.

A big part of it lately has been the coaching, though. The last few games they have taken no shots downfield. Combine that with the lack of running plays and the defense can just line up everyone right at the line of scrimmage and go after them. If McNabb's injury is what is preventing them from going downfield, it is time to put McMahon in because they will not win this way.

McNabb should've gotten that surgery when he first heard about it. How long was it supposed to keep him out?

It has to be his injury that's causing this.

6-8 weeks. Perhaps he forgot that he's left mid-season before and the Eagles survived without him and still made the playoffs.

Eagles need to run the ball more but not with crazy plays like that double reverse.......gimmick plays should be used late in the game after some build up.

I don't mind him not getting the surgery before. Either way the decision was going to look bad at some point. But it has become apparent that there are too big of problems to continue. This team may limp into the playoffs, but they are not a title team right now so what is really the point. PLayoffs are worthless.

Here is a link to an Eagles MB some of you might enjoy reading right now.

Well McMahon's not bad is he? I remember seeing him come in during cleanup sometime this season and do pretty well actually.

With the way the rest of the division is playing it may be hard for the Eagles to make it into the playoffs.

It sucks because I swear I'm the only Eagles fan in Oklahoma.

And one of my classes is just filled with Cowboys fans. I wear my Eagles jersey after every game and it's getting painful. Not that i'm going to stop doing it but I'm about to kill some Cowboys.

Also factor in that the Mannings are New Orleans natives and daddy was a Saints legend, and the whole Katrina deal. Ridiculous.

And I think the best GB making the miracle comeback would be if they made the SB and played Denver, which would put them on the opposite side of the coin as SB XXXII.. With Favre now being the old vet looking for a championship going up against a strong team.

The dome helps Peyton out obviously gives "older" the edge, making this whole "Big brother holding little brother down again" aspect of the story.

Jesus, I don't care for the Mannings but the pre-game hype would be off the wall for a Manning/Manning showdown and it would be the first time they go against each other. Perfect storyline for the NFL. Which means it'll be Atlanta/Denver.

Colts aren't going to the SB so no need to fear the hype that would be.

ALso, Philly is garbage. NO chance at even making the playoffs this year.

Garbage Philly is still 4-2 and in a tie for the division lead. Not sure how they have NO shot at the playoffs. But as I said earlier playoffs are worthless. They currently aren't title contenders.

HAHA.  Someone thinks Philly won't make the playoffs?  That is a joke.

Yeah but it's Cartman, who thinks that a 7-point deficit is tantamount to the end of the season
