Enigma Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Edge has a partial pec tear and is out of action. We're under the impression it will not require surgery and have not been given an estimate of how long he'll be out of even if he'll try and gut through the PPV on Tuesday. His status for Taboo Tuesday is questionable. Kane, who just came back after a long storyline hiatus after being replaced by Matt Hardy in the Edge/Lita storyline, also suffered a significant back injury Monday night at Raw and is also out of action. We don't have an update from after Monday but it was feared he suffered a broken back on the superplex spot from Big Show and he was in tremendous pain the rest of the match. His status for Taboo Tuesday is also questionable, much moreso than Edge's. credit: Dave Meltzer/WO.Com
Adam Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Wow, that sucks for Kane. I've always enjoyed his work, I hope it isn't as feared. As for Edge, he'll probably still wrestle.
Matt Young Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Jesus tapdancing Christ. I hope neither injury is serious. I'm not a huge Kane fan, but it'd suck to see him Kevin Nash his return. I love Edge... good wrestler, even better person.... so I hope he's not out for long. At least now we know why, following that spot, the triple threat match went from pretty good to horrible, botch filled mess.
Guest Fook Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Unless Kane is voted into the main event (which is very unlikely), they can potentially hide his and Edge's injuries by having them hide in their matches by pretty much standing on the apron and letting their partners do all the work.
Mystery Eskimo Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 A broken back? That's rather over the top. If he had, Kane wouldn't be "questionable" for Taboo Toozday, he'd be out for months. It's interesting how often WWE guys get injured, despite working a "safer" style to TNA and the Indies.
Cheech Tremendous Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Kurt Angle worked with a broken back in 2001 during the Invasion, so it is at least possible given the severity of Kane's injry.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 A broken back? That's rather over the top. If he had, Kane wouldn't be "questionable" for Taboo Toozday, he'd be out for months. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They don't know that he has a broken back yet. That's why his status is questionable. It could be something he can work through, or it might not. They don't know. His status for Taboo Tuesday is also questionable, much moreso than Edge's. This line isn't actually on the WO site, but they are both out of action for the time being.
Jebus Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 That sucks for Kane...BROKEN BACK (how in the world is his status just questionable?) As for Edge, his pec tear is just from that Mysterio dropkick?!?! He must've suffered it earlier or wrestled a dark match...
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 That sucks for Kane...BROKEN BACK (how in the world is his status just questionable?) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Read the report. Dave doesn't have an update from Monday, and it's only feared he has a broken back.
haVoc Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 I love Edge... good wrestler, even better person.... so I hope he's not out for long.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Was that sarcasm or are we going to take this thread in another direction?
Downhome Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 It's interesting how often WWE guys get injured, despite working a "safer" style to TNA and the Indies. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Many times when someone is trying to work more safely, it can lead to more botches and accidents. I understand the report says "feared", but still. Maybe I don't know a lot about injury, but if someone had a broken back, even something slight, wouldn't you know it pretty quickly? And finally...even though I don't really care for Edge (he is slightly growing on me slowly though), I hope to God this doesn't mean we have Chris Masters in the ring for the entire match, or even for most of it. This PPV just started looking even worse, and that's one hell of a bad thing since it wasn't looking great (or even good) in the first place.

Sandman broke his neck and didn't know it for a couple of years. Gary Wolfe didn't know right away that he broke his neck either.
Guest Coffey Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 More TV time for the McMahon's & Triple H!
Guest tony manero Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 This goes to show that bumping involves more concentration than one might think. It really is an art. The difference between a safe bump and a dangerous bump is very, very subtle, as Kane would attest to.

He was really cool to me when I met him, even if he is a horrible friend and husband.
SuperJerk Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Edge: Matt Hardy attacks backstage before the match. Problem solved. Kane: Furious that he lost the voting, Show attacks Kane before the match (rationale: most of the fans thought only a big man could beat Cena, but having Kane split the vote so the HasBeenKid won instead). Problem solved.
Guest clockworkraven Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Or, in a TT tradition, Kane walks out on his partner.
Guest FromBeyondTheGrave Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Replace Edge with Snitsky or Tomko. Replace Kane with Shelton Benjamin.
ChrisMWaters Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Hmm, if Kane's back is just bad, and not broken... Couldn't he just bring back the tanktop and hide a back brace or something under his ring attire?
Enigma Posted October 29, 2005 Author Report Posted October 29, 2005 More TV time for the McMahon's & Triple H! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Isn't that a redundancy?

That's a lot of weight coming down from both men.
iggymcfly Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Couldn't they just say "Kane broke his back on the superplex on Raw." Would that really be that hard?
Guest clockworkraven Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Couldn't they just say "Kane broke his back on the superplex on Raw." Would that really be that hard? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kane is an unstoppable monster, isn't he? Even if they did say that, half the fans would be expecting a run-in, or even to be there on TT with taped ribs.
Lil' Bitch Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Wow, two big name stars injured close to a PPV. That really sucks to hear.
Guest JMA Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 I wonder how this will affect Edge's Money in the Bank shot. In any case, it sucks to see anyone injured.
spman Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 When guys get injured like this, why just drop them out of the storylines on TV, why can't we have storyline reasons when guys get injured or need time off for soemthing. Run an angle on TV where Kane gets arrested, and keep him off TV until he's ready to come back with the explanation that he was in prison during his absence, it's cooler then "Back Injury" at least.
Guest JMA Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 I actually like it when WWE doesn't try to kayfabe the reason for an injured wrestler leaving. It makes wrestling seem more "real" if even a simple move can put someone out of action for months. Plus, it respects the intelligence of the audience. Of course, that doesn't mean that I've never been FOR a kayfabe reason for a wrestler's absense. There have been some times when it has worked quite well.
Vampiro69 Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 See I thought Kane injured himself when he tried to back suplex Big Show earlier in the match. After that occured he was seriously holding his back and was in obivious pain.
Guest clockworkraven Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 The match finished a little while ago on the Oz replay. I wasn't really paying attention before the superplex, but after it, he was acting like his back was screwed.
slimm44 Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 I definitely thought something would go wrong with that three way match.
