Fucking AIM Virus

Any idea how to deal w/ Aim viruses- a link got clicked on that it shouldn't have, fucked up my AIM, sent links to everyone on my buddy list.

 

Tried uninstalling AIM and re-installing, didnt seem to work, did a virus scan, nothing showed up, deleted the file that apparently got downloaded- it was a fucking DOS file too- I have a feeling this is going to be a huge pain in the ass to fix.

Yeah I had this the other day. I was planning on reformatting anyway so I backed everything up the day before.

Try this site. For some reason, alot of people who have that virus have used the utilities on this page and have successfully gotten rid of that virus.

I've done away with it-

 

Uninstalled AIM, did a virus scan, spyware scan, cleaned out temp files, cookies, etc. and reinstalled AIM- all seems clean.

That site has two articles, which give pretty good instructions on how to install and use ad-aware and spybot as well as virus protection, all free products.

I used Ad-Aware, but not spybot.

I highly recommend using another program like Trillian or Gaim, or the other bunch out there instead of AIM.
