razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2005 SNL goodness So people have a time machine hooked to their television? SNL and the word "good" haven't went together since the 90's <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Steve Carroll repeat was worth watching But if everyone changes the channel how do they even know that stuff is happening? Considering the fanbase has short attention spans nobody really watches the same channel longer than the average length of a Monty Brown squash.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2005 I'm sure 4LK will end up being a split. They should do it where Kip and BG win some tags, but BG and Konnan/Truth loses some, thus having Kip convince BG that they're holding him back.
Carnival 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2005 My post wasn't directed at you Coffey. The video was fine. It was directed at anyone who marked out for those Styles videos, and there were quite a few who did. Parts of those things were so cheesy they had me laughing. Magus 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2005 I flipped over a few times to check it out, and I think it sucked. The main event was an atrocity, especially ending with the new Jarrett love triangle story. Knew the show would end in a big brawl between Team Canada and 4LK, so I didn't have to even watch that. Running JJ vs. Kip as the ME was a huge mistake. I thought TNA was about new stars and actual wrestling. What happened to that? Oh yeah, and Christian seemed like just another guy in a sea of just another guys. He's being wasted because he's not actually doing anything. Only if Heyman shows up will there be a true sense of legit entertainment in TNA.

The 3 you mentioned plus Monty Brown, DeVon, Jarrett, Christopher Daniels, Konnan, BG James and The Truth(Hasn't been allowed to show it lately, but if you watched during his big singles push you'd know he can talk). Oh, and it's Brother Ray. They aren't the "Deadly's." Sabin vs. Styles was good, the Rhino video was outstanding, Raven telling Cassidy Riley to "drive, monkey" was funny... the rest was trash. Couldn't help but laugh at the commercial that said "Impact: Less talk, more action" as last nights show was all talk. Thumbs way down. First Impact on Spike that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Monty Brown - has the skills of Wily E. Coyote from the cartoons 2. Brother Devon - what has he done other than TESTIFY! 3. Jarrett - does he do anything other than swing a guitar? 4. Fallen Angel - ok for an indy guy 5. 4LK - is stuck with stereotypical gimmicks from 1998 6. Ron Killings - is the black guy from Not Another Teen Movie
Guest [censored] Report post Posted November 28, 2005 I thought the Sabin v. Styles match was horrible and couldn't get into it at all. Way to short for a match with these two and I just didn't think it amounted to much other than a interesting way to have Styles do his finisher. I'm a big fan of both of these guys and their work but this match soured the whole program for me. I thought the Brown squash match was more entertaining. Worst Impact in awhile. That is one of the ways TNA sabotages their wrestlers. BG and Konnan are good on the mic, but they absolutely refuse to do anything outside of their boring old acts. Christian's good on the stick, no doubt. But it doesn't matter how well he talks if I don't care about what he's saying. He's in a pointless fued that he shouldn't be in, so it doesn't matter how he dresses it up, it'll come out looking like shit. Yes, he's one of TNA's best promo men, but that doesn't change the fact that he's being booked like just another wrestler instead of a star (The same thing happened to Rhino after he made a strong debut, and now it's happening to Christian). KingPK 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2005 So, what was the general consensus of this show? Compared to other Spike TV era iMPACT! episodes? I turned it off after Hardy/Abyss. I mean, Jeff Jarrett vs. fucking Billy Gunn? THAT'S the best main event they could offer? James/Gunn/Whatever is one of the worst wrestlers I've ever seen so I have no interest whatsoever in facing the fucking world champion, who I couldn't give two shits about either. The Monty squash didn't really do anything for me. The one he had on the 2-hour special was the most effective one he's had. AJ/Sabin was pretty good. I liked how AJ got the Styles Clash. The Raven and Rhino videos did what they were designed to do. Only the X-Divison (particularly AJ/Joe), Christian and the possibility that Gail Kim will miss a top rope legdrop again and pop out of her shirt (yes, I've seen the nude photos already) are keeping me tuned in right now. That isn't much.

Fro 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 I thought this was a good angle-driven show. Styles/Sabin was fun for what it was. I'm far beyond the point of expecting every X-Division match on Impact to be as good as the PPV stuff. The big problem is, people who want TNA to be ROH Lite will be pissed at watching it, and the casual fan who wants TNA to be a WWE-type product as far as having storylines and angles and characters will be pissed if TNA is ROH Lite. Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 Only smarks know that Gayda is Haas' wife, so whatever. It's going to be a crappy angle though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And smarks are a majority of TNA's audience. It's dumb no matter how you slice it. I'll do everybody one better. Are we really supposed to buy into relatively attractive women who aren't ring rats from the south fighting over Jeff Jarrett?

I don't buy it.

Well said. I think this is the biggest problem with TNA so far. RoH works because they've identified their audience and they cater to them exclusively. It's a niche audience, but it's a devoted one. WWE has always acknowledge that net fans are not their target audience, so they have a defined audience as well. TNA has smartly tried to find the middle ground to create their own audience, one of people who watch a little more ~workrate~ than WWE is willing to regularly provide, but like to laugh or see something dramatic in between their suplexes and backbreakers. As a business plan, that makes sense, but the execution has been horrible because TNA has never found the mixture. Instead, they've spent the last three years going back and forth between the extremes. When one doesn't get the traction they want (i.e everything up to the primetime special), they switch almost immediately to the other (i.e. the angle-laden shows since). They have to find a way to balance the two regularly, and balancing is going to require more than having 4LK dance after a Samoa Joe match. It's something TNA is going to have to figure out if they ever hope to expand their audience, because right now they have pieces of the other companies' audiences who are never satisfied enough to spread the word, IMO anyway. Astro101 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 I know, it's absurd that two gorgeous women are fighting over JJ, but I don't see any point in arguing over Jackie not playing Haas's wife. Everyone's a character when they step in front of the camera. It's wrestling, so it's not the biggest leap in the "suspension of disbelief category" that TNA can do. RedJed 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 Jackie and/or Gail might be the girl who is apparently Raven's girlfriend, versus what everyone is saying about the two girls being both Jarrett's chicks. Just a thought. Didnt think too highly of the Impact show this week really, other than the Sabin-Styles match (I'd love to see a singles match between them on ppv) and the Rhino vignette. They need to keep doing special vignettes on workers to draw some character development/personality from them.
