What's amazing about this is coming into today the latest reports had FSU possibly being shipped out to Boise for the MPC Computers Bowl if they didn't pull off the upset.

Damnit... I would have loved to seen them there, too.

I am so sick of FSU going to the BCS when they are a total joke and have no business being there. The odd thing is that I am applying to grad school there, haha.

U of L had an admirable win tonight over UCONN on the road, 30-20 without Brian Brohm. After this debacle tonight for Va Tech would they now slide into that Gator Bowl spot vs. U of L? Cause let's face it, they ain't sniffing the BCS at this point.

The Gator Bowl had already pretty much made their mind that they are taking Miami regardless of what happens today. It looks like Va Tech falls to the Peach (which is actually a higher payout than the Gator) but it's conceivable they could fall even further than that as they might want to take the hometowm team in Georgia Tech. For now though I think they'll be thrilled with getting two teams were in the Top 5 going into the final week in LSU & Va Tech. If anyone is wondering in regards to LSU why they fall to the Peach is because the Capital One has pretty much settled on Auburn and the Cotton on Alabama so they were going to get the loser of today's game no matter what.

Of course now if they recover the onside they could still win this.

I think my g/f's VT fandom has found it's way in my head because this is justaggravating... FSU comes in as a joke, having just lost three in a row, but Beamer still can't fucking beat old man Bowden

Actually, it's great. The most overrated conference in football, the ACC, is sending a four-loss turd of a team as it's champion to the BCS, thanks to their stupid title game they wanted so badly. They'll probably be ranked lower than Pitt was last year. Couldn't happen to a better a conference. This ought to eradicate any of those silly thoughts/rumors/dreams that the Big East is losing it's BCS bid.

Ohio State will get the first at-large bid thanks to being in the top 4 of the BCS, which automatically gives a BCS bowl berth. Notre Dame gets the other BCS bid because non-BCS conference teams and independents only have to finish in the top 6 to automatically get a BCS berth. Oregon is going to the Holiday Bowl.

Yeah I agree Ether, but it's just lame to have a jobber get to the BCS under any circumstances. FSU's bizarre dominance of the ACC (even though they suck now) is an eyesore to football. I remember a couple years ago they were crappy and got to the BCS, then Georgia or someone just wasted them. That might have been 2002 when U of L beat them. Now they get an undeserved 15 million payday and get an assbeating from Penn St. Even when the BCS gets the main game right, they manage to totally fuck up everything else. Hell, the secondary bowls are going to be leagues better.

The Big East is fine actually. WVU is a very respectable BCS team and they very well could win that game vs. UGA. You know, it's sickening now that U of L went 9-2 to look back at the WVU game. That screwjob illegal onside kick that was allowed to stand really wrecked that game for us, but since the ND/USC game was going on at the same time nobody cared.

Ah well, with Brohm hurt I doubt we'd stand a chance in a BCS game anyway.

Virginia Tech choked twice this year. Once to Miami that killed any National Championship hopes. The second to a realing FSU team, that cost them a trip to the Orange Bowl.

I'm just pissed that FSU couldn't play like they did today the entire season.

I read an interesting comment on CFN a few days ago mentioning that Louisville may make Michael Bush the quarterback while Brohm is out (yes, I know about Bush being a QB in high school and playing against Brohm is the KY state championship a few years ago). I'm assuming it didn't happen tonight, but do you think it is possible for the Gator Bowl, and do you think it's a good idea?

Oh man, that shit was hilarious. Since VT joined, lots of ACC fans have rightly pointed out that they've managed to miss FSU in the regular season, and that they really ought to beat the long-standing kings sometime. And they didn't. Awesome. FSU tried very, very hard to give it away with that nonsense prevent defense in the 4th, though.

Not to be a prick or anything, but I have to do this.

Both/Either Texas and/or Virginia Tech will Lose. Book it.

Seems like I called it. :D I had a feeling that something big was going to happen today.

Not only just that, but this means this is the second time that Florida State has gone into the BCS with this amount of losses to its credit. Wasn't ACC expansion supposed to correct this?

Now if you're a Big East Fan (like myself, and a few others on thos board) you're probably laughing your ass off on this one. Flordia State has not only beaten the Number 5 Team in the Nation, but they have embarrassed their own conference. A conference that Florida State Dominated, even though it has pretty much sucked for a good porition of the Half-Decade. Swafford went through all of that trouble to try to kill a fellow conference, to gain a whole fanbase who wants him to die, and has made Boston College a fucking Traitor to Eastern College Sports. All for a stupid ass Championship Game, that had its worse scenario played out, anyway.

Karma is a fucking bitch, a fucking bitch indeed. Not only did the Big East have its Ranked Teams win out today, but it may have its Champion reach the Top 10, and will be ranked higher than the ACC BCS represenative, and may be ranked higher than the SEC Rep as well (another conference that would love to see the Big East roll over and Die).

All I have to say is, congratulations ACC, you have earned every single second of this.

White, playing with a shoulder injury that made him doubtful much of the week, scored three times on 14 rushes for 154 yards to break Charles White's school record for career touchdowns with 54. White also had two receptions for 35 yards.

"That feels real good," White said.

And USC fans will feel good to hear that White said he will return to USC for his senior season.

I personally prefer the old ACC for two reasons:

1) I love a conference where everyone plays everyone in the regular season

2) UVA always had a good out-of-conference game against VT, and now they're scheduling more OOC cupcakes since VT has replaced another ACC team.

Of course, the level of competition is now way higher, and having big-time teams like Miami and VT makes it much more notable on a national level.

Also, I don't think any ACC fans really care for Boston College. Their arrival messed up the logo:

Used to just be Maryland down to Florida, and looked a lot better. Stupid northeast.

Ether, the Michael Bush at QB idea is one a lot of U of L fans have had lately. I'm not sure if Petrino will do it now though, since Hunter Cantwell performed admirably in his first start on the road. I hope Bush does at least take some snaps or run some gimmick type plays in practice since it might really fool whoever we play.

Agreed, the Big East isn't anywhere near as bad as people think it is, at least not on top anyway. If the BE has any of these teams improve (Pitt, USF, UConn, Rutgers) it could be a very solid conf. For now though it's just going to be WVU and U of L duking it out.

Oh, and no one has really mentioned it but Georgia over LSU yesterday was hardly an upset. LSU was perhaps the most overrated team in the country, basically Bama with slightly more offense. They barely edged AZ State, lost to that shitty Tenn. team, lucked out vs. Bama and Auburn in OT, and damn near gave a game to Arkansas. Georgia meanwhile had Shockley go down and lost a tough one fo Florida, and lost a nailbiter to Auburn.

As a Michigan fan, I can only hope that a stray nuclear bomb from up north hits Tempe

Fuck you.

Well since the regular season is over I just have to say that it sucked because not only did OU suck but one of my big questions still wasn't answered: Which Stoops brother is the better head coach?

I tried to say last year that it was obviously Bob but everyone here tore my head off. So I decided to give Mike a chance and see what happens. I'm still going with Bob just b/c his program wins and he won the national title in his second year.

Some minor adjustments to the bowl schedule it regards to the ACC. Apparantly the Car Care Bowl is just going to say "fuck it" to the order of finish in conference and go local by picking N.C. State. Georgia Tech is now going to end up in the Music City Bowl, where Virginia was slated for a couple of weeks, and now UVA gets shipped across the country to play in the Emerald Bowl.

Also the Outback Bowl might pick Iowa over Michigan.

So it looks like Oregon vs. Oklahoma in the Holiday Bowl is almost guaranteed at this point. I actually like this game as the consolation for not getting into the BCS, because at least it's against a big program, and also a team we are playing again next year. Hopefully Oregon wins so that next year's game in Eugene is the rubber match between UO and OU, our third game in 3 years.

OU has no secondary......just start throwing and don't stop. Even if you have a child throwing passes he's bound to connect enough against this crappy secondary to win the game. Don't even think about running the football. Just fling it everywhere.

*yes i am bitter about OU's secondary*

Bob has tons more talent to work with than Mike does and a better program to win with.

With a healthy Kellen Clemens I am 100% confident we would destroy OU. But using Dennis Dixon and Brady Leaf I'm not so sure.
