Juicy Tidbits from HBK's Book

Triple H broke up the marriage.

HHH and Shawn were basically bosom buddies before Shawn's departure in '98. They'd often sit side by side and not say a word to each other for hours.

They certainly deserve each other.

Regarding that, Shawn said in his book that HHH was just "like that" and "would do that a lot"

This had been going on for a long time since HHH first came into the WWF and politely asked Shawn if "He can hang out with him" because HE'S the guy to hang out with.

No joke.

Edited to add: Also, regarding his back injury around Mania, HHH would often massage HBK's back when he came backstage after his matches.

You'll never get a thread that talks squarly about HBK without Bret being mentioned, and the same goes for Bret. And before people start coming up to defend every little thing about Bret, please remember, Bret wasn't Mr. Clean either.

I don't think ANY wrestler can be referred to as "Mr. Clean." Even the most respectable ones have some skeletons in the closet. Of course, Shawn has enough to fill a graveyard...

This is true. Although I think Shawn regrets alot of his past behavior, I don't think he should be forgiven for it.

I use to think that he regretted it. Now I really doubt that he does. From the transcipts I've read it seems like he's trying to justify his past lies and actions.

I always thought it was funny that Bret Hart would call HBK a homo, considering Bret's the one that wore pink his whole career.

And about the Ricky Morton thing, HBK kinda did still his gimmick didn't he? Isn't he the Ricky Morton of the Midnight Rockers?

I don't know about that. HBK did wear MANY outfits that could be considered "gay" (and he still does). But to be honest I never really had a problem with either wrestler's attire.

I don't think Shawn is a routine wrestler. It seems like he has the same routine these days because he does the "will not die" thing and somehown pulls out the superhuman win. Before his comeback in 2002? No way. Not routine. Shawn is just stale right now because he is a face character doing the same character for 3+ years. Give the man a heel turn, and his matches will change.

How? Half of his book seems to be him making apologies to people and saying he was wrong in different situations. I'm just reading the part where he apologized to Greg Gagne at WMXX for being cocky while he was in the AWA.

Yea, the Hogan-HBK feud this year made me yearn for the days of a heel HBK.

He's probably just a mark for the babyface pops.

If we go on what wrestlers wear in the ring, Mankind in his early days liked shit and Hurrcane likes snot.

Agreed. It's pretty erroneous to judge a wrestler based on what they wear in the ring. Hell, some wrestlers have to wear some pretty weird stuff as part of their gimmick.

Hahah, "If sherri saw that someone wasn't selling for me, she would yell, "Throw them out here, Shawn." I'd throw them out and she would kick them with her big old boots and scratch them on their back. They would come rushing back to the ring to be with me where it was safe."

That's what Jericho and Christian were missing.

Interestingly, you could say the same thing about Hogan. And both claims would be true.

Well Christian had Trish for a while, but she didn't do that much.

Speaking of Shawn and Sherri...

That caption works on so many levels. And I actually have the magazine that the picture first appeared in. Man, I really miss heel valets like Sherri.

-- Said Bret would constantly rag on him about his family, calling him a homo, etc and later say it was all a work and apologize. Bret would constantly apologize and go back to ragging on him and his family again. Bret had far less integrity than he would like everyone to believe.

Its stuff like this that makes me think its HBK talking about things he did himself and just putting Bret's name in instead of his own.

what was the whold deal on the sunny days comment???

After several incidents of insulting each other backstage over the months, Shawn cut a promo on RAW during his feud with Hart where he basically accused of Bret, a married man, having an affair with Sunny. You don't like the guy? Fine, but don't bring that shit to the public. HBK is a douchebag for justifying what he did.

But why do you think Bret Hart is just an innocent bystander who Shawn terrorized? I'm sure the whole feud wasn't just Shawn stomping on Bret and Bret valiantly keeping quiet and maintaining his integrity. I'm pretty sure it went both ways for them to hate each other that much. And I've heard the story before about Bret trashing Shawn in columns and not supporting him while he was champ.

True.

It's not black (Shawn) and white (Bret).

When I read Hart's comments like lousy, dishonest, chicken shit and bastard I am not really sure if I should believe the story about our canadian hero.

Bret didn't support Shawn as the champ...interesting. I read in the torch interview with Nash that the Hitman did the same when Kevin got the title. In fact Nash felt like Bret thought that nobody loved the business like he did.

Come on...Bret is not as innocents as he wants to be.

As kid I loved Bret, by i just wish he'd shut the hell up. I'm no HBK lover either, but all i hear Bret do is whine and complain. He seems so faultless in everything. He feels so sorry for himself, and i know he's been through some shit but come on, stop whining. HBK is still wrestling, getting pop, while Bret isn't and looks like hell (did you see him on ByteThis? He looked like Jake Roberts without the tash.)

The only reason why Bret is thought of as the so-called innocent one was because he was the one who got screwed. If the roles were reversed, I bet people would be a lot more sympathetic towards Shawn and have a lot more dislike for Bret.

Michaels is also about 8 years younger than Bret. Let's see what he looks like at age 48.

He'll probably look like Hulk Hogan's skinnier twin brother.

Well, this is the dumbest thing I've read all day.

Karl Stern did a review on his podcast on dragonkingwrestling.com and said that the book was a quick and good read, but after he was done, he liked HBK less. He said a lot of it is HBK justifying his bad behavior and changing wording on things. For instance, he would bash Shane Douglas swearing and using questionable language in his ECW promos saying they were horrible for the business and bad for kids to see, but would put over his D-Generation X days as "me and Hunter just having some fun" although they were just as suggestive with their words and especially their actions and gestures.

Stern than said that if HBK were to have said in the book that he was an asshole back then and what he did was wrong, but was now a changed man, the tone would be different. Here, it looks like he's just spin doctoring his past as well as serving as the WWE rebuttal to Bret's DVD on the Montreal situation.

It's dumb to say but he kinda has a point. Purple is gay in a lot of peoples eyes. Outside of his attire, that's the only gay thing about him.
