Sass 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2005 I ran Spybot and this is the only malware program it can't delete. I get the "processes are still running" reason from Spybot for why it can't be deleted and I still can't find a way to get rid of it. If anyone is familiar with this malware, how do I get rid of it? Thanks.
Dimensions 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2005 Try running spybot in Safe Mode and take that bad boy out that way, that's how I usually get rid of the stubborn fuggers.
Sass 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 I ran Spybot with safe mode and I still got the same "programs might be in use" message that I got in normal mode. At this point, I'm not sure what else I can do.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 Use Hijack This to get rid of it?
Sass 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 I downloaded the 14 day free version of Spy Sweeper and it apparently got rid of of IST. However, I'm still getting random pop-ups even though Ad-aware and Spybot detected nothing wrong after I used them last once I used Spy Sweeper. Funny enough, I'm getting the pop-ups when I'm at TSM now.
Dimensions 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 Use your Firefox browser and try to disable all start up items in MSCONFIG or look for stuff that you know doesn't belong also go into your Program Files folder and delete anything you know doesn't belong. Also, disable your internet connection, if popups still come up, chances are all that crap is on your PC, look for the source of that and take it out. admin 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 Spy Bot S&F and ad-aware is must haves. FireFox v1.5 is out so make sure you have that. I would set firefox as your default browser. Changing defult browsers will tell if its on your PC too. If it continues to pop stuff up, then its a bit worse. Also, when using spybot and ad aware, make sure you do the updates, reboot, hit F8 when computer is booting up BEFORE you see the windows XP Screen. and choose safemode. and do the scan in safemode, so that it can get rid of anything thats normally active in a normal boot.
