Why am I the one that always has to take the high road? Why am I the one that's always causing the trouble? You all do the same thing. But because nobody is on my side and you all are together it's me that gets villified. You all do the same damn thing.

USC fans do this on every board I've been to. I swear that fans of that team have a sexual attraction to each other. The only worse fans are the ones from Notre Dame who will actually make brand new threads just to fellate their heroes in gold, and fans of big east coast schools who act all insulted at the idea a Pac-10 team could be chosen over them for a bowl game (*cough*OSU*cough*).

HAHAHAHAHA.

So, Dama stated that when Texas wins the Rose Bowl, it'll just look good when OU beats them. Isn't that exactly what he's bitching at everyone for? Him saying that, is equal to saying that USC has no chance. When I say that Texas has no chance, I'm flaming him.

Whatever, there are 3 USC fans on this whole fucking board.

Also, I've sent PM's to Dama trying to be civil and I didn't get anything but a weak attempt at a flame back. Since that, any flaming related to him is quite warranted.

Good to see you FINALLY did what I asked you to do a few days ago. Now knock this shit off or anyone that keeps going is suspended until January, or even longer.

I'm not trying to jump in on a 'flame war' or anything, but Dama, I don't really see where you're getting this idea that the USC players are cocky about the Rose Bowl. I've heard a lot of USC fans (and football fans in general) talking about how the Trojans are going to roll over the Longhorns, but most of thats been on message boards. As great as this place is for discussing sports, something tells me that Reggie Bush isn't pouring over the college football threads at five in the morning.

The fact of the matter is, USC can be cocky, and they can do so without it being detrimental to their game. They were openly cocky before the UCLA game, and then they went out there and hung 66 on them, while holding them to 19. UCLA has a stupendous offense. Drew Olson had a better year throwing the ball than Matt Leinart (as far as touchdowns, interceptions and QB rating) and far better than Vince Young (every catagory.) UCLA's top three rushers combined for 1500 yards, and they had the nation's top tight end. This is not some shlub offense. As the season has progresed, this USC defense has matured - by the time the Rose Bowl rolls around they'll be healthy and deep. As nogoodnic has already pointed out, USC has a defense that can hang with some of the most prolific offenses that the country has to offer. Couple this with an offense that can hurt you in so many ways and an NFL calliber coach who doesn't have a history of blowing big games, and its not really hard to fathom USC beating Texas by a couple of touchdowns.

Texas is a really good team too, but Jamaal Charles and Ramonce Taylor are not Reggie Bush and LenDale White. Matt Leinart is a better quarterback than Vince Young. Granted, VY can hurt you with his feet, too, but against better defenses he can be contained. 3.8 avg against Ohio State, 1.7 against A&M. The rest of the games he rushed poorly in were blow-outs, so they aren't a perfect representation, but still, you can take away that facet of his game.

You mean Reggie Bush hasn't found the internet? Even HHH has! I'm eagerly awaiting Reggie ripping into Dama.

Also, USC got #1 back in the BCS. This is important. Now we get the stylish all white uniforms for Texas. That can be filled with grass stains when USC drives them into the turf.

Not really.

With the better quality of grass these days, it doesn't happen as much.

Plus, VY will run for like 200 yards anyway, despite losing by 30.

Umm, excuse me? Vince Young has the highest QB rating in the country. At 168.58, he's three points higher than Olson and 10 points higher than Leinart.

USC has a tremendous offense, Bush has had an amazing year, and you can't really fault him getting the Heisman. However, I'm sick of people ignoring what Vince Young has done this season. He's probably had the third best individual season in the last decade. He was leading the conference in rushing until he focused on being a better pocket passer, and now he leads the nation in passing efficiency instead.

He's basically everything that Michael Vick wished he was in college. The idea that anyone has had a far better season than Vince Young from under center is just crazy. Granted, it will be quite a test to see what VY does against USC (despite their propensity to give up a lot of rushing yards, they have one of the best secondaries in the country.) However, up to this point in the year, he's been pretty much the perfect weapon from the quarterback position.

I think Vick could have been better than Young is now if he'd stuck around for his full four years of college. But that's pretty irrelevant in this thread, so...

I'm amending what I've said before. I think USC will still cover the spread, but it won't be a super dominating perfomance. Texas will be able to hang until the fourth quarter. It'll still feel like they're just barely containing USC the whole time though.

With such a prolific pair of offenses, how many punts you think we'll see?

Police investigate incidents possibly involving UT players

Allegations include an assault and robbery, police say.

By Tony Plohetski

AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF

Friday, December 16, 2005

Austin police are investigating allegations that individuals involved in the University of Texas athletics program committed robbery and assault in two separate incidents in September and earlier this month.

Police said this afternoon that one incident happened Sept. 4, and the other happened early Dec. 10, a Saturday morning.

"Due to the fact that these crimes are still being investigated, APD cannot provide additional information," a police statement read.

According to a police report, the Dec. 10 incident occurred at 2:59 a.m. at 500 E. Seventh St. near the Sixth Street entertainment district. The report said that police took a call concerning an attempted robbery by assault in which a suspect used his hands, fist or feet to assault a victim.

The second incident happened Sept. 4 at 3:06 a.m. The report did not list the location, but it stated that officers were dispatched to an assault and that an automatic handgun was involved.

University athletic officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

Local media is not leaking names, other than to say that Vince Young is not one of the players in question and that if there are any suspensions, "it will hurt" Texas in the Rose Bowl.

One of them will probably be blocked by Texas though. Those dudes are really good at blocking kicks.

No. They're not. I've never heard the term "Brown Ball".

Although Austin police and the University of Texas have not identified the individuals under investigation, attorney Ken Oden confirmed to ESPN's Joe Schad on Friday night that cornerback Cedric Griffin is one of the people being investigated.

"I have agreed to advise Cedric Griffin although no criminal charges have been filed against him. He is the subject of an investigation -- and I stress it is an investigation," Oden told Schad. "I believe no charges will be filed against him. They're saying this is assault and robbery, and it sounds hideous, but this is a trash-talking incident on the street involving Cedric and that's it. I know this is a big game and they're focused on it. But in fairness to Cedric, this was nothing more than a verbal incident in as much as it involves Cedric."
