The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 Logic would suggest that Rey and Batista get DESTROYED at Armageddon. One because Batista is injured and two because it's Rey and three because Kane and Big Show have just been DECIMATING people left and right for weeks. If Armageddon ends with Kane and Big Show standing over two (or more) of Smackdown's roster, that could make some big noise leading into New Year's Revolution and the Elimination Chamber. Guest tony manero Report post Posted December 5, 2005 I was freaking SCREWED. I beat Hitman Jebus to it, and MY thread is closed??? Anyway, I can't help but think that Benoit is being jobbed out before signing with TNA.

Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 It looks like a loaded SD but with a PPV gimmick match added. This one isn't doing much over 200,000.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 What's the reason behind taping this on Sunday? That PPV looks awful by the way, and if they end up going with Booker sweeping Benoit then I think we can probably say SD's pretty much on its deathbed since Benoit's on the way out too. strummer 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 It was taped today because they are going to Iraq this week to tape Raw.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 It looks like a loaded SD but with a PPV gimmick match added. This one isn't doing much over 200,000. If they hadn't already burned the HIAC gimmick this year, it could add a few buys but I wouldn't imagine fans are that rabid for it. That being said, I find this card much more appealing then any recent SD show but that doesn't mean I'm buying it.

Guest tony manero Report post Posted December 5, 2005 Why is Benoit losing all of these matches? Maybe because he declined the contract extension WWE was offering him? I don't know for sure, but I don't see how Benoit would want to stay in WWE after his best friend died. The tiresome politics and day to day affairs in the company can't be endearing to him, either. Not to mention, perhaps Benoit doesn't want to get off the JUICE, if he's on it?
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 You know, a face going down 0-3 or 0-2 in a best of series isn't that un-common.
Guest tony manero Report post Posted December 5, 2005 You know, a face going down 0-3 or 0-2 in a best of series isn't that un-common. How many best of 7 programs have we exactly seen in wrestling? Going down 0-2 in a best of seven series seems pretty normal for a face, I'll grant you that. But as far as going down 0-3, let me say this: No NBA team has ever come back from a 0-3 deficit in the playoffs; that should tell you about Benoit's chances, here. If Benoit comes back to win the series, it would show what a huge choker Booker T is, and I don't necessarily see that happening; if Benoit wins the series, then he'll look VERY, VERY strong, and I don't have faith in WWE that he'll be made to look that good again. We'll see.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 Homicide was up 2-0 on Dragon this year before Danielson won the last 3 matches to win the series. That's one example just recently.

Wrestling is pre-determined, NBA is not. There's no doubt in my mind that they'll go to a seventh match. Armageddon looks awful, but it isn't surprising. Traditionally, it was the 12th most important pay-per-view of the year, the only difference is that now it's the 15th most important.

My guess is that they're going to go the Magnum TA/Nikita Kolloff route, and have one guy go up 3-0, the other guy overcome the odds to & come back to tie it only to lose in the seventh match (most likely due to nefarious means). JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 Some other notes I got from another board's spoilers: -Somebody debuted for MNM and helped them beatdown the Mexicools. He was never named, and the guy watching didn't knwo who he was, but probably an OVW cruiserweight. -Cannon announced Kennedy was injured and put Boogeyman in his spot in a match. -Scary Taker stuff all night with Josh Matthews doing an interview with Orton but then being possessed and talking in Taker's voice, etc, seeing things in the mirror that aren't there (like Hogan/Warrior), etc. -A video aired showing Lashley's dominance at SS...even though he was first out. -End of the main event had JBL "hurting his foot" and walking out of the match. Guest Jack Potts Report post Posted December 5, 2005 Since Smackdown! moved to Friday nights, I rarely get to see it, but what I have seen has been fairly disappointing. Nonetheless, I was at the show last night, and found it to be surprisingly good. Points of interest: -Virtually no reaction for Kendricks and London. Sad, really. -The crowd popped HUGE for Batista everytime he came out. -The crowd dumped over the 'Taker/Orton angle once it became apparent the Undertaker was not going to be there. I don't know whether they intended the "spooky" backstage skits to be funny, but if not, they've stumbled onto the comedy feud of the year. Orton struggled to sell his frustration with the Undertaker's mind games. R.D. Reynolds should tape this show when it airs, because he may have a new induction for his site. -I haven't seen much of Bobby Lashley, but he had a solid match against William Regal. Regal really took it to him in the early parts of the 5 minute match with stiff shots and a nice suplex. Unfortunately, Regal took the Dominator on his knees, which made it look less...um...dominating. -I don't know if the Boogeyman has had a televised match before, but he only did one move in his squash match, a pumphandle slam, and he almost botched it, by teetering off-balance slightly before slamming the relatively small jobber to the mat. I had never even seen the Boogeyman in full view before, but it's a little Papa Shango and a little bit of Warlord, mixed with Darth Maul. INTENSE heat from his pyro. -The great part in attending the live events is watching the complete and total belief and awe in the eyes of the young kids in the audience. During the Booker T/Benoit match, a boy and a girl, each about 9-10 years old, and two rows apart were cheering like mad for their respective favorites, and taunting one another. When Benoit lost, the poor boy was emotionally drained. When a ref bump occurred after Benoit was assured victory, the kid had the same dumbfounded, incredulous expression of a guy who just bet his home on the Tyson/Buster Douglas fight. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 You know, I've said that they outta do a Best of 7 series that ends in about 5 or 6 matches. It'd probably die in terms of crowd heat if it happened though. That said, Benoit is now going to make a huge rally and take it to match 7. The problem with all Best of 7 series in wrestling is that it makes both guys look less impressive since they both end up jobbing 3 times to the other before the 7th match. I hope this means that JBL has now fired Orlando Jordan as Chief of Staff?

This crap didn't work, or even make any sense, when WCW did it. So why are WWE re-using WCW's crap old ideas?

The Undertaker sounds like he is continuing his pattern of ruining any young talent that he steps in the ring with. No one is getting a rub, Randy Orton is just getting ruinied having to look like a total fool selling his fear of the Undertakers low rent special effects. With Adults 18-49 it scored a 1.5 (5 share). Credit: Mediaweek.com Other than the 3.1 SD! got for the Eddie Tribute, I think that's the best rating SD! has had since the move to friday nights. Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Hasn't Benoit re-upped w/ the WWE already? I don't think so. Word on the street is that Benoit's contract isn't quite up yet though it is coming up soon. I gather that Benoit will come back and take the series to 7 matches. By having Booker be up at 3 victories it'll give their upcoming PPV match a little more juice by just giving everyone that tiny bit of doubt that the series might just end. If they go into the next PPV with the series tied at 2 to 2 then there's no possibility of the match ending and therefore the match has a little less appeal to it even if most people suspect the series will go 7 matches anyway.
