Bored 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Figured just a generic thread for the next couple of weeks should be fine until the bowl season starts. College football awards are announced this Thursday and the Heisman announcement is this Saturday. I'll try to provide as many useless facts as possible over the next couple of weeks about the bowls. Please leave Rose Bowl discussion in the Rose Bowl thread. Most fun non-BCS bowl: Sun Bowl, UCLA vs. Northwestern. Let's see if the they top 100 points in this one. Least fun bowl involving BCS conference teams: Car Care Bowl, N.C. State vs. South Florida. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Secret Agent 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 The Heisman is this Saturday? Or is it the announcement of the Heisman finalist...as if we didn't already know who they were.
Jorge Gorgeous 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Oregon v. Oklahoma should be good, especially with the teams meeting again next year in Autzen.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Oregon v. Oklahoma should be good, especially with the teams meeting again next year in Autzen. I still say it'll be a blowout. OU's secondary blows. Oregon likes to throw. Oregon will stack the box to stop Peterson. I'm still not sold on Bomar.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 being from Nebraska (though not a fan), I'm interested in the Underachiever Bowl Nebraska v. Michigan...it should actually be a decent game...other than that, I'll just be watching BCS Bowls...
Guest Leelee Report post Posted December 6, 2005 I think the Fort Worth Bowl is the worst... Kansas (6-5) vs. Houston (6-5). This game proves there's way too many bowls. How the hell does a 6-5 team from C-USA go to a bowl?
SilverPhoenix 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 I think the Fort Worth Bowl is the worst... Kansas (6-5) vs. Houston (6-5). This game proves there's way too many bowls. How the hell does a 6-5 team from C-USA go to a bowl? Someone needs to lose? My game to bet on and cash in on. Rutgers Vs. Arizona State in the Insight Bowl. Everyone is writing off Rutgers, and they really shouldn't. I'm expecting Rutgers to win, because they will be wanting to prove that they don't suck.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 There needs to be some bet corresponding the scores of games to the ages of the coaches in the Orange Bowl
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Is there anyone with a snowball's chance at the Heisman outside of Leinart, Bush, or Young? I really hope not, because it'd be a travesty if Bush loses it. Guy looks like a man playing with boys. He runs like a deer, and can do anything with the ball. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 wasn't Brady Quinn getting a sniff at the Heisman?
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Quinn will challenge Leinart for the #3 position behind Bush and Young.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 (edited) Quinn is the fourth guy then who is the fifth finalist? I seriously have no fucking clue. DeAngelo Williams? Nevermind, I forgot they trimmed it to three with a chance. But usually five guys get votes, that's why I got confused. Also, I'm dropping my vote right now on Wyatt Sexton of Florida St as one of the finalists if he returns next season. FSU is going to be in great shape at quarterback next season even if Sexton doesn't get to come back although they gotta find something to do with Lee since QB is out of the question. Perhaps a WR role. Also, I'm going to be completely crazy and fanboy and pick FSU over Penn St. It won't happen but I think they finally got the injuries on o-line and secondary sorted out enough to make it close Edited December 6, 2005 by 2GOLD
nogoodnick 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 I could see FSU beating Penn State. Theres just something about PSU that makes me think theyre not for real.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 (edited) ESPN's got Jerome Harrison up to fifth. I'd put him at third myself behind Bush and Young. You'd think that they would have announced the actual finalists by now though if they're holding the ceremony on Saturday. I guess too many people wanted to actually watch all the games before they voted. I'm still not quite sure who deserves to win though. I was all over the VY bandwagon before the last 2 weeks, but with Bush rushing for over 250 yards in each of his last two games, it's hard to vote against him. On one hand, Vince Young is fifth in the Big XII in rushing playing half the game, and he leads the nation in passing efficiency. Meanwhile, Bush is averaging an unheard of 8.9 yards per carry. I guess, just based on the fact that VY had a slightly off game when Texas was battling A&M, and that Bush has come up huge for the Trojans whenever they've had a big game, I'd have to give the slight nod to Reggie, but I think that Vince Young wins the Heisman any of the last five years before this one. The last Heisman winner good enough to beat out VY was probably Ricky Williams. Edited December 6, 2005 by iggymcfly
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 It depends if anyone gives FSU a shot to win the game. FSU must bring in a new offensive cordinator. You don't always see a fifth player in NYC for the Heisman. If they do how about the Wizzou RB? He probably put up the best numbers for a RB in the country. therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_ylt=Ak...ov=st&type=lgns Gary Barnett is reportedly going to be canned at Colorado. FSU won't beat PSU. PSU has a great defense and senior leadership, so they're not going to become unglued like Virginia Tech was.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 Barnett has lost his last 2 Big XII title games by a combined 112-6. On top of that he back-doored into both of them and didn't actually win the North.

Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 It's not exactly a bad program (on the field anyway), they've just hit several large bumps in the last couple years. Bring in the right coach and they could go back to being a national powerhouse program like they were from the late 80's to the mid-90's.
