Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2006 It's totally about risk, if Pavano was on Chacon's contract it wouldn't be a big deal that he's not performing/hurt. But because he is making big loot, that's why Yankee fans are so pissed off about it. And most Yankee fans didn't want him for that price in the first place. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2006 Apparantly Kevin Brown will announce his retirement. Aww bad timing with the Bonds' future retirement announcement. Keltner him Al! Chop, chop Google Boy! There's no point. Brown's got 211 career wins and one 20 win season. He's not going to Cooperstown.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2006 Baseball Prospectus has released their 2006 list of the top 50 prospects in baseball. Link below: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=4774
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 21. Kenji Johjima, C, Seattle-06/08/76 Come on, he's a rookie but he's not a prospect.
Mik 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 That list is vastly different than the list you're going to see from Baseball America, starting tomorrow (I think) and lasting all week. Vastly different.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 21. Kenji Johjima, C, Seattle-06/08/76 Come on, he's a rookie but he's not a prospect. Baseball Prospectus listed Jose Contreras and Hideki Matsui in previous years, so this isn't a new phenomenon. There are a few issues with their rankings. The obvious one is the lack of Jon Lester. Second is rating Chris Snelling for finally producing an 80 game season but leaving Cole Hamels of the list. But all prospect lists are just a matter of throwing names out there, and they really shouldn't be taken seriously. I think places like Baseball Prospectus are running into problems where they try to take the educated guesses produced by sabermetrics and turn them into cold, hard fact in order to sell them to fans and fantasy players. The competition has made them look foolish at times.

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 sorry about my "ironic" comments, but I was refrerring to the big contract pavano got. Chacon was a fill-in they got for cheap, I have no idea how he will do this year of course, but he's less of a risk due to only making 3 mill or so this year. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Opening night should be awesome if we get a Halladay/Santana match-up. Santana's already been named the opening day starter for Minnesota. Nothing on the Blue Jays site about who is gonna start the opener.
treble 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Yeah, Halladay's the Jays' opening day starter.

Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 Man I would love to have tickets to opening day for Santana v Halliday. Although Johan always starts out the season slow it still should be a great matchup.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 I would do. Just don't want to get on a plane and fly to Toronto.
Mik 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 I'm just hoping to see the Marlins ONCE this year. They are in Philly in late July for a weekend series, that might be the ticket. Baseball America Prospect Handbook released today for those who are interested. Well worth the $$.

Baseball America Prospect Handbook released today for those who are interested. Well worth the $$. Go for the night games, there is nothing worse than a humid day in Philly. I remember when I went to a Sunday game in August against the Mets at the Vet, in the 700 level with those ugly yellow seats in 100 degree weather.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 Man I would love to have tickets to opening day for Santana v Halliday. Although Johan always starts out the season slow it still should be a great matchup. Man, if ESPN hasn't scheduled their Opening Day games then Santana vs Halliday HAS to get on television. That's a battle of two of the best arms in baseball.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 Don't bet on it. The Santana/Halladay matchup has nothing to do with the Yankees or the Red Sox so ESPN will deem it worthy of only a 25-second highlight package on Baseball Tonight. We probably won't even get some hardhitting, insightful Harold Reynolds analysis of it.
Bored 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 ESPN does already have their Opening Day schedule. April 2nd Indians at White Sox, ESPN2 April 3rd Nationals at Mets, ESPN Red Sox at Rangers, ESPN2 Braves at Dodgers, ESPN Giants at Padres, ESPN2 Yankees at A's, ESPN2 Mets, Red Sox, Barry Bonds, Yankees...don't act all surprised. devo 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 April 3rd Nationals at Mets, ESPN Rock. I'd love to see Hernandez vs. Martinez. Hopefully both will be near 100% by the time opening day rolls around.

Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 Man I am so glad that I work at a radio station that carries the Twins games. Plus since I live in North Dakota we get Fox Sports North and they oftentimes carry Twins games. Also fuck ESPN. Not everyone gives a damn about the Yanks, Mets, and the Red Sox. I would love to see them cover a baseball game because it is supposed to be a good game, not because the Yankees are playing the Devil Rays.

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 now being in NY again I can actually see Yankee games other than the ones espn showed and when they played the angels. SO that's a plus. Probably the main reason they are showing yanks-a's is cuz of Damon's debut. Well plus it's a pretty good matchup. Opening day is sold out here, hope to get some tix for the next days game. they do have some left. if all else fails there's always the bleachers. Halladay vs Santana does sound interesting. Too bad I won't get to see it.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Cubs tickets went on sale this morning. Even after a losing season, the rush for certain games was unreal. They've got a virtual waiting room you need to (obviously) wait in until you're randomly selected to buy your tickets. Even then, the process can take hours and you can only select tickets to one game. Last year, I lucked out and scored three great seats to the Red Sox game at Wrigley. This time around, I waited nearly two hours just to get in and then couldn't find anything decent for the key match-ups against the White Sox or Cardinals. The Sox series was sold out by time I got in there and I could only find three upperdeck seats for the Cards game in July. Even then, they were $50 each (plus those lovely fees), so I passed. As a Cubs fan, I just want to be at Wrigley. Seeing the Cards would be fun, but I'd rather get better seats at a lower price and risk seeing a lesser team. Wound up pounding out three tickets to the 7/14 game against the Mets.
