And Kotz, I was born in Charleston. I lived in Charleston for several years, and all of my father's family lives around there, so I go back to the Lowcountry at least once a year; I'm here to tell you: any "attractive" women that you saw in the Lowcountry were either tourists or college girls that aren't actually from there. Quite frankly, I have no use for either the former or the latter.
Art Sandusky Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 I think my perception is warped by being downtown most of the time for the last three years. Work and school in the same area, and most of my friends now too. Since I've been 21 I haven't gone to any of the places outside of downtown. It's the best place overall, but each different part of Charleston has a different personality. Charleston!: Downtown: Most hustling-n'-bustling as an area on a small peninsula of 55,000 can get. Separated by the crosstown route of Highway 17 and beginning of I-26, as well as the junctures with Mount Pleasant and James Island. It's a real big division akin to people who were above sea level and those below it in New Orleans. Upper peninsula is an urban wasteland that's improving a great deal thanks to the new bridge having exits that come off farther north. Still pretty poor and depressing. The Citadel resides in this area, as does the police station and some college students thanks to pretty cheap rent on big houses. Burke High School has repeatedly been a problem place. Now then, south of the crosstown is where all the hospitals and higher learning institutions are located, as well as all of the tourist attractions and the oldest parts of town. It's the ideal Charleston, and is generally what people mean when they say "downtown." South of Broad Street is the hyper-rich oldest part of town, where you see supercars under tarps and multi-million dollar homes. James Island (where I live, and labelled as Charleston for some reason): A blend of aspiring urban nouveau riche, white trash hickery, and island/beach attitudes. I love this place, and among the parts of town it's a pretty highly regarded place. Not the best, not the worst, but closer to best. Think Georgia in the SEC. It's such an insane blend of stuff that you really don't feel like you're missing much by leaving. Place has got all the basic necessities so that there's really no need to leave. And that's good. Folly Beach: The beach element of James Island and one of two competing beaches on either side of the harbor. Extremely laid back beach town, more of the bums, bikers, and fishers variety than the overdeveloped tourist shithole variety. Isle of Palms: The overdeveloped tourist shithole variety. Always has been, even as early as the 20s. Sullivan's Island: The pastoral coastal town, an extension of Mt. Pleasant, the pastoral suburban town. Mt. Pleasant: The epitome of suburban sprawl. Yuppies and the people from the north area who work for them. Summerville: The other side of the fuckin' planet; the farthest-out place I'd call part of Charleston's greater area. Here's where your rednecks come into play and all of the NASCAR bumper sticker stereotypes and the like come into play. North Charleston/Goose Creek: Urban decay and the location of most of our major chains thanks to low land values. Your Best Buy, Hooters, whatever. Nationally marketed stuff is here, as are our only two 24-hour Wal Marts. Sadly, it's where the really good mall is. Both the worst of country and urban folk are up there. Rampant small-to-big time crime and modified cars. West Ashley (centered around where that little 17 is): A place that's just kinda there. Yeah, it's got all the stuff like the north area does, but is directly connected to downtown so it gets a slightly more refined air. Lots of otherwise uninteresting and commercially useless land has lead to it becoming the place for young professionals to live, in increasingly distant subdivisions. Inbetween the subdivisions and downtown lies a veneer of commercial vibrance that turns to self-perpetuating poverty the moment you go a couple of blocks off the main highways/thoroughfares. John's Island (the large island with sparse development next to James Island): "John's Island - Rural Forever" trumpet bumper stickers of people who live over there. That should tell you a good bit. Home of the private airport simply because it's the second largest island on the east coast after Long Island, it's home of the redneck influence on James Island, secret Klan meetings under the cover of darkness, and voodoo groups that kill as many as 200 cows in a night's ritual. It's a wilderness, our own personal Veldt stacked to the gills with people who speak with a twang and have horny jailbait daughters. Seabrook Island/Kiawah Island: Where the people who profit from John's Island's land in one way or another and the hyper-rich who don't want to live in crowded downtown live. Kiawah is an island that requires your car to have a special sticker. I keyed these cars whenever I saw them in parking lots when I worked at the Harris Teeter on James Island. Kiawah is a solid 30-40 minute drive from James Island, so the idea that people went that far because their Piggly Wiggly wasn't good enough for them was intolerable to my angsty teenage self.

Nah, even worse than the ghetto type blacks... usually kids with rich parents, who cry racism at every turn despite not dealing with one bit of what their ancestors went through. Plus, most of them only follow what "Vee & Ree" do, and insult all other players because they be inferior. Except they don't realize that both of them don't give a shit anymore, and are no longer the best players.

I used to go out with a girl who went to the Uni. of Charleston, and we took a horse drawn carriage ride around the town. Our guide was quite gay, but he seemed to know his shit, even though he called Myrtle Beach Kmart on the ocean. I remember when driving up to the city we saw old black women selling baskets and shit on the highway, it just struck me as odd, as I had never seen anything like that up north. Charleston is a gay city though, I mean look at it. Queers would just love that place. No telling what's been going at Fort Sumpter at night, what with the cannons and all.

It was the hardest time I've ever had navigating through a store- like a maze filled with cheap souveneirs and seashell jewelry. Since then I've only wasted my money at the arcades, as it should be. Those 20-odd T-shirt shops suck too. It's mostly the kind of stuff only Malibu would wear(no offense Zack- I mean it's your kind of stuff). The only non-arcade places on the boardwalk that I can stand are the Ripley's museum and that old-fashioned diner.

Teachers, professors, friends' mothers, etc. Actually I tend to have things for younger women (never too young though I do tend to go by physique more than age) rather than older women something which I feel a little guilty about. With a younger woman you can have more years of sex as compared to an older woman if you're with said person.

If you find a great genetic partner than it makes sense to have more than 1 child with them. The kid's gotta have a sister or brother to grow up with. Have sex with other genetic superior females while your first round of children are being born. Than go back to your previous sex partners and have babies with them again. This besides making sure a child has a brother/sister to grow up with also creates more of a loving family unit when you decide to go back to a woman you were already with. 2 children per family is enough. Than you can go one and find other women. One's gotta have and teach morals in the crazy upside down world.
