Guest Euronymous Report post Posted December 24, 2005 I don't know from when this match is, but can anyone tell me what the hell was going on? Andre looked drunk and didn't sell Maeda's kicks. Inoki came down all of a sudden and just then, Maeda kicked Andre hard in the stomach, knocking him against the ropes. Maeda kept up with the low kicks to the leg and Andre tried to no-sell them, but was obviously in pain. Andre recovered in the corner while Maeda argued with Inoki at ringside about him. Inoki then got into the ring and argued as well. The match continued and this time Andre winced with every kick his leg took. Later, Andre was down and he didn't seem to want to get up, like he was telling Maeda to pin him so the match would be over. Inoki got in the ring, as did other people. Inoki and some other guy (probably someone famous, but I'm dumb) almost got into a fight and the match was stopped. While everyone was arguing, Maeda covered Andre because he was still lying there but the referee told him the match was over. Maeda got out, visibly pissed. He entered again and Andre told him to bring it. It was surreal. Any information 'bout this?
Si82 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2005 I think that Andre just wanted to embarrass Maeda. Don't know why though.
The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2005 If Andre wanted to embarass Maeda, they should have compared stool.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2005 Maeda was a prick and a lot of people in New Japan wanted to embarrass him so a number of them went to Andre and talked him into not cooperating with Maeda with the idea that Andre would humiliate Maeda and show him up. Sadly, the failed to realize that Andre was a total slug, had no mobility and was nowhere near as tough as his myth suggested, and Maeda pretty much humiliated Andre instead. With Andre down, Maeda looked to his corner for the ‘signal’ but it never came so he backed off. In the end, Inoki ran in to stop the whole mess. Even though this was on tape, it didn’t stop a lot of people from ignoring it and holding onto the myth of Andre being some super tough guy, despite getting shown up for the whole world to see. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2005 Was Andre drunk at the time HTQ? I know Ive handled people twice my size that were drunk... I don't think he was drunk, but it wouldn't have made any difference. Andre's toughness was more myth than reality.
Fartsauce 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2005 Is there video footage of this anywhere? I keep hearing about it and never actually saw the incident.

World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2005 Also, Andre was lying down to try and get Maeda to come down to the mat with him. Obviously, Andre would have been able to manhandle him on the mat, just due to the size and strength advantage. Maeda refused the invitation of course and kept it standing. Fartsauce 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2005 Did Inoki wrestle on that card? I thought it was unusual for the owner of the company to come out in his wrestling gear like that. Only thing I can think of is that either he had just wrestled or was just about to wrestle.

Obviously, Andre would have been able to manhandle him on the mat, just due to the size and strength advantage. Maeda refused the invitation of course and kept it standing. Andre had almost no hand speed when it came to striking. At best, he'd have been able to push Maeda off for a few minutes, but he'd still gas out quickly. His only other chance would have been to hold Maeda and not let go, but Maeda would have been constantly trying to get out and Andre would have gassed out doing that a lot faster than Maeda. Ace309 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 1986, as I recall. It might have been 1984, too. April, I believe. I don't have the file anymore, but I got it once on a filesharing system. Interesting match.
landy1987 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 I believe it was either April or May 1986 (from what I remember watching it was the awful looking out of shape Andre from WrestleMania 2 and not the Andre from 1984 who was slightly more mobile and had a lot more hair)
