Guest nWoCHRISnWo Report post Posted January 20, 2006 As if the Pens needed anything more against them than their extreme shittiness, the ref screwed them over vs the Rangers. The Surovy goal with Crosby in the net should have counted dammit! Ah well, doesn't matter for the Penguins now anyways, but it seems like everything goes wrong when you suck. mike546 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 Malik barely even touched Crosby, and he didn't even try to stop. Then he sat in the net and bitched and whined for a couple minutes.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2006 Souray got the game misconduct but he's not getting suspended since the brace is for his wrist in which he had surgery three years ago.
Guest Report post Posted January 21, 2006 However odd this may sound, I think this Blues-Jackets OT period is the best I've seen all year.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2006 He got a game misconduct. Also, TSN is reporting that Petr Nedved got traded to the Flyers for Dennis Seidenberg. I don't think they needed more scorers. They need some help at forward. The way they are set up right now: 1st line - Forsberg creating everything 2nd-4th line - Succeed through forechecking, can't create to save their lives. If you are solid at defending a forecheck, you can take away 3/4 of the team. While Nedved is unlikely to be the answer, at least he'll bring a little something different to the forwards (different from Brian Savage or Donald Brashear at least). And with the returns of Joni and Desjardins, plus the development of Freddy Meyer they could afford to lose Seidenberg. Disclaimer: Please disregard entire post if this results in RJ Umberger being sent to the Phantoms. If that were to happen Clarke and Hitch should be beaten immediately. Guest Report post Posted January 21, 2006 The problem with Nedved is his attitude. If that can be put aside, and if Umberger stays up (FUCK JON SIM) this was a great move.

Guest Report post Posted January 21, 2006 With this trade and all the injuries, when those injured players come back, won't Philly be WAY over the cap?
mike546 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2006 The thing about Malik's goal wasn't how amazingley awesome it was. It was a great goal, but it's the fact that Malik, nowhere near a offensive D- Man at all, scored a shoout goal with the puck going through his legs, and he made it look like he'd done it a million times. the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2006 They are allowed to put Nedved's salary in the cap space Primeau is taking up. There is some "replacement" provision. If Primeau comes back this year they would then be over the cap and have to make room for Nedved (or get rid of him if he doesn't perform). This is where the Flyers are going to make out like bandits having the Phantoms right next door. They have been saving money all season by not actually promoting players, but just bringing them up for the games. Take Umberger for example, the whole fall at least, they were having him practice with the Phantoms and brought him up for games. Each day he practiced with the Phantoms saved $5000 against the cap. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2006 23-2 Ottawa in their last three games against the Leafs. And they get to play them at home AGAIN Monday. That could hit double digits.

Guest Report post Posted January 22, 2006 My god, Montreal is the other team that Michel Therrien should have been calling out. Talk about soft. Theodore probably couldn't have stopped any of the goals they gave up, Bonk was a pussy, and Vancouver came out ready to play. As far as the Leafs go, they aren't going to win a game until Tucker and McCabe both come back. Sundin has disappeared.
skullman80 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2006 I won't even comment on the Pens on ice problems recently, losing 9 in a row. They have been playing tough and losing 1 goal games for the most part, but it's still frustrating. I'm posting more to vent on the off the ice part of the Penguins right now. Not sure if all of you know about the whole arena situation and the Penguins possibly moving or not. Basically the Igloo is the oldest and smallest arena in the NHL that was never even intended to be used for hockey. The Penguins have partnered with the Isle of Capri to apply for Pittsburgh's only gaming license to use to build an arena. If the Pens/IOC get the license they will build a new $290 million dollar arena for free, using not a cent of tax payer money. Basically the IOC will build it as gesture for getting the slots license which allows them to put up a casino in the area. This will also put a 1 billion dollar investment into downtown Pittsburgh that will revitalize much of the downtown area. Sounds great, right? Well here is the thing there are 3 other applicants for the same license, none of which who if awarded will fully fund an arena for the city. One of the groups, Forest City, gave our govenor Ed Rendell campaign money for his election campaign, which in turn could mean the fix is in as the govenor will give them the slot license to repay them so to say. No one else has made their proposal public, many think because they cannot touch what the Penguins are offering. At this point though it may not matter because if the "Fix" is indeed in than the Penguins will move after next season because they cannot keep losing money as they are at the Mellon arena right now. I know that other fans have gone through this....Hartford, Quebec etc. I can't imagine this happening. This team has been here since 1967, and has won 2 cups, and has had the like of Lemieux, Jagr, Coffey, Francis etc where the black and gold. The whole thought of this just depresses me, it dampers my enthusiasm for the great nucleus the Penguins have for the future..Crosby/Malkin/Fleury etc. Just needed to vent on this...sorry for the long post. Sadly, I think they're going to move. Kansas City seems like the most likely place, but if they really had to move, I'd want a team placed in Quebec City or Winnipeg. If they move, blame should fully be placed on the government. Or hell, move them to Hartford. Also, as I've posted in many of these threads, I can't believe anyone wanted to give us a goalie for Radek Bonk.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2006 Hartford > Kansas City. Isn't Hartford really pissed with the NHL over the Whalers or something? Also, as much as I'd love to see Quebec or Winnipeg with a team, I'm not holding my breath on it. The Winnipeg Arena is currently being demolished. Also, Eugene Melynk reports it'll still be a few years before the Sens turn a profit, provided they dont make the Eastern Finals...this with the cap and 19,000 a game...That's a bad sign for anyone hoping to see a return of the Nords. True. The new arena would be the smallest in the league by nearly 1,000 seats.

Not surprising after a couple 12,000 a game seasons during the early '00's....Surprising after the early 90's with a moderately priced Gretzky.
