Guest Report post Posted January 18, 2006 http://tsn.ca/news_story.asp?ID=151267&hubName=main Apparently Zigmund Palffy has decided to retire due to a lingering shoulder injury. If he doesn't count against the cap, this is pretty good for Pittsburgh. The real question is, does retirement count against the cap? Also, the Pens acquired Eric Cairns, who no doubt will be Crosby's personal protector. Kinda like Semenko or McSorley and Gretzky. Smart move.
Guest Report post Posted January 19, 2006 Thought I should point out that the Leafs are falling and falling hard. They are on their way out of the top 8 in the East. I watched the game tonight, and they fucking suck. The only guys creating anything were Jason Allison and Chad Kilger.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2006 I'm pretty sure Palffy would play for the Leafs. Why not get Dave Anderchuck as well.
treble 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2006 They've sucked against the West this season, won only something like 2 games. But, they're done playing outside the conference so hopefully that'll help. I hope McCabe's not out much longer, too.

Guest Report post Posted January 19, 2006 It's a steroid, reported on TSN. OOO Boston traded for a backup goalie today from Chicago, Raycroft's headed out of Boston shortly.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 Yea, it's a steroid. He was tested for int'l play so it shouldn't affect him NHL wise. So I didn't provide more detail at the beginning, but it was fresh off the wire.
KGB 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 It's a steroid, reported on TSN. OOO Boston traded for a backup goalie today from Chicago, Raycroft's headed out of Boston shortly. It's Craig Anderson, and they claimed him off waivers actually.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 Funny that its Bryan Berard. Anyways who's catching the Bruins/Flyers game right now, its a damn good hockey game.

CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 I read the Berard thing has McCabe at least four times before I realised who it was. Big night for former leafs, as Green also scores twice in said Boston-Philly game.
Guest Report post Posted January 20, 2006 It's a steroid, reported on TSN. OOO Boston traded for a backup goalie today from Chicago, Raycroft's headed out of Boston shortly. It's Craig Anderson, and they claimed him off waivers actually. My fault. We have Anaheim v. Ottawa on at the Sun, it's a good game. Yes, it was. McGrattan vs Fedoruk at the beginning of the game was a nice tilt, and Hasek stood on his head. However, Ottawa lost in the shootout. Rangers would be losing 4-1 if not for Lundquist. Guy is freaking amazing. Yes, but can we attribute this to the absolute shittiness of the Pens? And also, Luc Robitaille broke the record for goals scored by a King tonight with a hat trick. One of the goals was an empty netter, but it's fitting that he got three on the night of a milestone.
Dogbert 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 The Flames beat Montreal 3-2 at home. The score was flattering to the Canadiens, as they essentially did nothing of note after Koivu's goal in the first.
Guest Report post Posted January 20, 2006 Oh, I forgot one thing. You know how Atlanta's rising up the standings? They don't get hit, and they just use their speed. In the playoffs, that shit's not going to happen, and I don't care who they have in net, that defense is atrocious.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 Funny that its Bryan Berard. Anyways who's catching the Bruins/Flyers game right now, its a damn good hockey game. Maybe the steroid is medicinal ... maybe if he doesn't use it, he'll go blinder (joke blatantly stolen from the Simpsons). Yeah, the B's looked good last night. It helped that Philly was without 5 of their normal starters, including Primeau & Forsberg, but the B's still dominated the play. Thomas looked good, and should be an adequate back-up for Hannu once Raycfroft is moved ... at this point, though, I really wonder what Razor will bring back in a trade. His value can't be much lower than it is right now. Wayne Primeau's goal was gorgeous, though, one of the prettiest goals the B's have scored this year, and Bergeron/Sturm are playing VERY well together. Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 I liked Sturm goal last night. Beauty play by the Bruins taking the opportunity from the Flyers missed chance.
the max 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 Anyone see the McGratton/Fedoruk fight last night? I downloaded clips from another board and if there's interest, I'll yousendit them or something. Excellent fight though, good punches, positioning and humor as both guys waved off referees when McGratton fell down unintentionally. Good win for the Bruins as well. I'm very happy with Thomas emerging as a star, but I think it's only a matter of time before he falls back to earth. I don't know what their plans are for Raycroft. Getting Anderson off waivers says that Thomas might be in the NHL permanently, but it doesn't say what the future holds for Rayzor. He could be shutdown for the season because of his knee or he might be traded. I'd rather they hold onto him than trade him for something that might or might not help. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 There was a direct link to it on the hockey-fights message board if people would prefer that to the yousendit link. The Souray/McCarty fight was a solid scrap, too ... but mostly because I'm NOT a fan of DMac and thus I like to watch him get bloodied.
Guest Report post Posted January 20, 2006 Souray was wearing a brace on his hand, thus the massive amount of blood coming from McCarty's eye.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 Wait: he found with a brace on his hand? Isn't that supposed to be a game misconduct? (or did he get one, and I just didn't hear about it) The folks at the fights board alleged that it was an elbow, which seemed weird because Souray's elbow wasn't bloody at all ... the brace makes it a lot more sensible.
Guest Report post Posted January 20, 2006 He got a game misconduct. Also, TSN is reporting that Petr Nedved got traded to the Flyers for Dennis Seidenberg. I don't think they needed more scorers.
