Bored 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Fox is going to be doing the national title game next year along with the Orange and Sugar Bowl, I wonder who they'll have doing PBP and color commentary for it. I'd imagine that Buck and Aikman would do the national title game. It's just going to be bizarre with them doing those major games when they won't be televising any regular season games. I'm really dreading their who they pick to be their pbp guys. They have one of their many awful basball pbp guys do the Cotton Bowl every year. They should sign Dick Vermeil to be an analyst who I at least think was good as he was doing college football games before he returned to the NFL. That was now over 10 years ago and I think around that time I still thought Tim McCarver actually knew what he was talking about.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Their regular college football guys aren't very good from what I've seen. I'd imagine they could use Aikman as an analyst since he was a pretty solid QB at UCLA, I don't know who else though.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 I wish there was a way to turn off the Fox commentary and just listen to the sounds of the game. Marcus Vick looks terrible today and as I say that he throws a 23 yard pass to convert a 3rd and 18.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Now, the one revelation that I have gotten out of the bowl season thus far is that the ACC's overrated as shit. Miami got the ever-loving shit kicked out of them, and Georgia Tech got picked apart by Utah. I think Florida State's in for an epic ass-kicking, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Louisville beat Va. Tech. Disappointing indeed. Still, Clemson and NC State handled their business as expected, and Virginia, despite being 5-point dogs, took out Minnesota. BC beat a fine Boise team on the road. It pretty much confirms what I've felt about the conference all year: there really aren't any elite teams, but anyone short of Duke can play with anyone else there. It makes for a great conference season, but a little lackluster in the big bowls. Top to bottom I think the ACC has without question deepest set of teams right now, but they'll need more consistency from the bigger programs if they're going to live up to their new, 12-team hype. We'll see how the last few games shake out, but this year I'd probably go Big Ten, SEC, Pac-10 and ACC at about the same level, Big XII, and then Big East. There's significant separation between the top two conferences and the rest. Speaking of Miami: Larry Coker fired the OC, LBs coach, RBs coach, and his assistant coach/OL coach. Dropping Kehoe, who's been there forever, is pretty nuts. Miami was down (by their standards) this year, but this seems like a huge overreaction to me. therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 I can't believe Miami axed Art Kehoe, he's been responsible for pulling great recruits out of NY/NJ/PA for years. He's definitely going to get another job somewhere very soon. I also think this could end up costing them Pat Devlin, their top QB recruit who Kehoe recruited. Devlin could reopen his recruitment, which could be very good for Penn State and Virginia.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Well I appear to be wrong about Bama scoring 50 but I seem to be spot on about Tech scoring 3.
Guest Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Jimmy Williams has been ejected from the Gator Bowl. Ran into the ref more than once.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 It look like the ref was leading him to the sidelines and he told the ref to get off of him and swung his arms in that direction.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Williams is a punk bitch. I'm loving the Gator Bowl so far. The Fox guys really suck. They keep calling Cody Hodges "Rogers," among other things. It's too bad, because Fox clearly has the best rig of HD equipment today. I'm watching the games on my dad's 70-inch LCD, and it's a thing of beauty. Fox, ESPN, ABC, and NBC, in that order. I don't think NBC even brought an HD camera to the game.
Bored 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Outback Bowl is nice example of why it'd be nice in some fantasy world that bowl assignments were based on merit and not pre-determined conference alingments and how well you draw. Iowa didn't even finish in the BCS Top 25 yet they get to play in a "January 1st" game simply because they drew well in the Outback Bowl two years ago. Granted playing on "January 1st" is a bit overrated as this year the Peach Bowl had the best non-BCS match-up (on paper at least) and the Holiday Bowl getting a Top 10 team pretty much every year now but Iowa had no business getting a big payout game like this and it's showing. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Damn I can't watch the Cotton Bowl anymore. Not b/c I really care about Texas Tech winning or losing(OU won! fuck everyone else!) but they're just irritating the shit out of me right now. That should be OU playing Bama right now anyway. therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Having a 62 inch flatscreen TV in HD along with a surround sound system for today is quite awesome.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 I wish I had 4 TVs..although the Outback Bowl isn't much of a contest. Man the sports gods hate me or something. Teams I root for can't buy a win to save their lives. I'm cursed. I started hardcore watching every minute of every OU game in 2003...the year they lost the Big XII title game and begun their national title losing streak! Coincidence!? I THINK NOT! Guest Leelee Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Former FSU QB Chris Rix is sideline reporting for FOX at the Cotton Bowl. For some reason, that just amuses me greatly We need updates on how retarded he looks, and when he says something stupid.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Jesus. It's not that I'm get angry watching Tech/Bama play it's that I'm just getting so irritated and frustrated watching Tech operate that I want to pull my hair out.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Why? Oklahoma "beat" them anyway.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Why? Oklahoma "beat" them anyway. Because to outright win the contest that I have at the paper I need Tech and Georgia to win. With Tech losing the best I can do is tie for first with a Georgia win. OU did beat them. I don't know how much more clear it could be that they didn't score on that last play. Guest Leelee Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Ooh, you gambler. I already lost on all my pools this year... was horrible in my selections. Won a bunch last year though, so I can't complain.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Ooh, you gambler. I already lost on all my pools this year... was horrible in my selections. Won a bunch last year though, so I can't complain. I'm not a gambler. I write sports for the campus paper and all the paid sports writers have to put their College FB picks in the paper on Fridays. We compile our records over the season and me and the other guy have come down to being tied for 1st right now with only two differing bowl picks. I remember a sportscaster(i think it was one of the college gameday guys) saying that the SEC was down this year.........yeah he was wrong.

I remember a sportscaster(i think it was one of the college gameday guys) saying that the SEC was down this year.........yeah he was wrong. The reason people think the SEC is down deals with the supposed lack of offense... Which is mainly due to the quality of defenses they've been playing against. Take LSU for example. They got shut down by Georgia and needed OT to beat Alabama and Auburn. They blasted Miami 40-3.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 The one legged QB ties the game up!
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Right now I am very happy with the score for U of L, but why the FUCK wasn't Marcus Vick at least penalized or tossed for stomping Dumervil's leg at the end of the half?? Hell, he knocked him out of the game for a play and it looked like an intent to goon him and get him out of the game. I hadn't had anything against Va Tech before this, but they are some really cheap shot, punk bitches. I hope we can somehow beat them, even with Hunter Cantwell. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Wow. This is what I mean by frustrating. Tech's QB makes an amazing gutsy move to get the TD and then the defense comes back out with Bama on the 15 and let's them drive.
teke184 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 DAAAAAAMN... I thought that FG was too low, but Bama wins it on the last play of the game.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Bama wins the game like they've won other big games this year....with a field goal. Texas Tech's "improved" defense can go to hell. That's just dumb to let them drive down the field and hit that field goal. They were on the 15 for gods sake. Man fuck Texas Tech. Man fuck every other team in the Big XII. Bunch of pussies. I'm going to petition for OU to be independent. *wonders off to draw up the neccessary paper work*

AlwaysPissedOff 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Man, that was emotional as hell for me as a Bama fan. I thought Christinsen missed it at first until I saw the reactions of everyone on the field.
