Sting will turn Heel at Final Resolution

Recommended Posts

Guest Macaroni

I think someone else mentioned this in the "Comments that don't warrant a thread" post, but after seeing last night's iMPACT! I'm leaning more and more towards the possibility of Sting pulling a Bash at the Beach '96 and turning heel in his return. What makes me think this? Well, it could just be their usual hypberole, but TNA's claim that "the face of wrestling" will change at Final Resolution, plus the wrestler tributes to Sting they did this week coincide well for a turn. Sting is one of the few remaining wrestlers who (to my knowledge) has never been a heel during his mainstream run (I'm probably wrong on that). Even if he had a heel run, people automatically associate Sting with being the good guy. And I think the face of wrestling might change if Sting came in aligned with Jarrett, pissing off all of the wrestlers who praised and idolized him beforehand.

Then again it's probably all just wishful thinking. Thoughts?

Sting hada brief heel run in WCW in late 1999 that flopped miserably. He supposedly turned heel when he used the bat on Hogan to beat him for the WCW World Title at Fall Brawl of that year. The only problem was, while Shivone and the other commentators were busy condemning Sting for his actions, the crowd was popping like mad. Why? Because it was STING! Sting is one of those guys that you would have to be very creative with, if you wanted him to turn heel. Plus with the uber-smarky TNA crowds, I highly doubt theres much of anything they could do to get the crowds to boo him.

I love seeing Sting in action. I have NEVER gotten behind a wrestler more than I did when Sting started his vengeful crow gimmick. I even went out and bought myself a black trenchcoat because Sting made it look so badass. I hope that TNA does the right thing and keeps Sting as a face and does with him, what the fans want, destroy Jarrett.

I agree with Haws...with that TNA crowd, you can't make faces and heels. It's just a waste of time. The crowd is more concerned with getting themselves over, than helping TNA by "playing along" even a little bit.

Heel Sting might be fun. And I don't want to see him be the man to destroy Jarret. Save that for Joe or someone new. After the run with the title he's had fans are gonna go mad when JJ finally drops the belt. Don't waste that on Sting, he's already a star.

But the TNA crowd for the most part has been shitting all over the Sting angle..........so doesn't that already make him a heel?

They've been shitting over the parts that involve Jarrett from what I've seen.

I was thinking the same thing. Are we watching the same episodes of iMPACT!? I remember a very loud "We Want Sting!" chant last night.

LMAO

Yea go ahead and laugh it up. I was an impressionable young 16 year old. :P

After being stuck with Jarrett for so long you'd want Sting also.

Why go back to ground beef, when you've been eating steak for 3 years?

Because the so-called steak has gotten rancid.

I don't think their that stupid to turn him heel, but on the other hand I didn't think they were stupid enough to sign him in the 1st place for anything other than a 2 or 3 month deal.

How many people thought turning Hulk Hogan heel at Bash at the Beach '96 was a bad idea? That certainly worked out.

I don't even know what Sting is going to do in TNA. I assume he'll win the title from Jarrett and then lose the title to Samoa Joe. In between, who knows? I'm sure Monty Brown and Christian will be lost in the shuffle while AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels & Austin Aries are lost in the X-Division.

I think heel Sting would work better than babyface Sting in this case. The TNA fans will shit on him soon enough once the nostalgia wears off, and once they remember Sting isn't a spotmonkey.

Sting is pretty high on abyss in his book. So I assume he'll work with Abyss some.

A Raven/Sting feud is something I see talked about quite a bit on other forums.

But yes I'd like to see him dethrone Jarrett, reign with the title for a few months and drop the belt to a heel Joe clean to help put Joe on the top of the heap.

I really don't think Sting is going to be the one to dethrone Jarrett. The entire build since November has been to Christian taking the title from him. They didn't even change that direction after signing Sting (the JJ parody was after Turning Point), unlike how they dropped the Monty build the minute they brought Christian in. If Sting doesn't go heel like suggested here, I think he'll put Monty and then Abyss over...he'll probably be used to elevate heel challengers to Christian, and may get a run before his year is up, but I still think Jarrett's jobbing to the Unprettier either in February or March.

While I agree with you. TNA also is the company who for one week builds Raven back to the belt, then switches to Monty Brown, Then To Christian. I mean...they can change who's going for the belt at any moment it seems. Hell, if Raven wins his match this month he's owed his rematch.

Sting is not going heel. He is a born again Christian and will not want to go along with that. He has enough clout that he can shoot down a heel run.

Wasn't he a born again Christian when he did his WCW attempted heel turn?

That was COMPLETLEY different. Hogan was so damn stale as a face, something needed to be done to turn him heel. The fans were basically booing him at that point, they just needed something to put it over the edge.

Hopefully not... that would ruin the one good thing about his eventual title reign:

Seeing Joe destroy him and make a name for himself by taking out fucking STING. Have Sting get knocked out by a flury of Joe strikes, and you've got a superstar.

It's still Sting... The guy who's being billed as the new face of TNA. If Joe destroyed him and took the title, he'd be mega over.

That's kinda my point. In all those situations, they made it clear pretty much immediately that they were shifting gears. Here, they've gone through 2 sets of tapings and they're still pushing Christian as Jarrett's main non "TNA Management" opponent. It could be wishful thinking, because I think Christian needs the win to be their own big star, since Sting will probably be gone when his year is up, but we'll see.
