Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2006 IGN just featured a video about the Kreate-a-Fatality feature in MKA. Looks shit, I have to say. They all start with the same generic set of moves and all just seem to involve the pulling off of limbs. I'd rather put in the fatality code, sit back and watch Scorpion spear someone's head then rip it off. Achieves the same thing, yes, but is a little bit more interesting and unique. People will be tired of that after about 3 goes.

Anya 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 On a related note--here's a bunch of fatalities from Way of the Warrior (3DO): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeWk2BaVESk&NR Hah awesome! I told you that game was funny. The animation is so bad. Some of the pits are actually cool though.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 I like the open grave pit but the blood in that one seems silly. Eternal Champions CD deaths.
Anya 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 The stage fatalities in that are just too good. Midnight's where they fall into the pit and into like 3 sets of blades is the most over the top fatal ever!
jwest27 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 Oh my god, those are way more gruesome than the orignal on Genesis.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra0sWqP3IEg See the awesomeness that is Kano doing the heart rip without, including being animated to hold the heart up, while holding nothing at all!

I actually think Sub Zero's fatality there fits better then the pull the head and spine off fatality.
BUTT 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 I agree. And I'll take the SNES MK over the Genesis MK any day. Well, actually, the DULLARD code was cool. But that game really suffered from the Gen's lack of colors. Usually that stuff doesn't matter much to me, but in this case it did, and I don't really know why. But hey Sega, your "blast processing" can totally suck it.
Anya 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 So now the guessing game will begin for most MK fans: Which endings from Deception were actually counted, and which ones were just there to make you think? If it's like MKDA to MKD they'll ignore most endings and just go in whatever direction they want regardless of the previous game. SNES MK1 has bad gameplay. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 I look forward to seeing the MK Plot Guide on GameFAQs once it's revised to include MKA. I doubt it will make any sense, try as they might. Anya linked me to this--the Killer Instinct 1 and 2 finishing moves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDG3Iq8G9Fk I still don't get how Orchid kills you by showing you her tits. I mean, they look freakish, but still... I can't find any videos at all for time killers and bloodstorm. Ha! Anya 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 Yeah, UMK3/MKT is full of awesome juggles. That and it's speed are why I say it's the best MK. The combo system was innovative, that is why I always rant about Ed Boon not getting credit. It's crazy Tekken and Marvel style combos in like 1995.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 Boon still has no clue what he did right and what he did wrong. The people who made SF, Tekken, VF, etc. have learned what they've done right and wrong and tried to update/fix the games appropriately. Sadly, often that involves "toning down" characters who don't need it and introducing broken new characters, but at least they try and have a clue what they're doing. Anya 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 Yeah but he stil should get credit. The juggling in the first game was a mistake but in the sequels he purposely set up the physics of the game to be like that. I mean, Kitana's fan lift is basically designed to start juggles. He knew what he was doing. He didn't know people would take it that far, but he he knew it'd be different then what Capcom was doing. Also to be fair a LOT of stuff in fighters is unintended. You could go on all day about tweaks Namco or Capcom has made that weren't needed or even made things worse. They stumble onto things too.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 Well, who is to say it wasn't John who actually knew what he was doing, not Ed? Ed's standalone projects have been crap. Of course, John's have been worse... Although I guess the argument is that one or both of them knew what they were doing in 2D, but when it comes to 3D, he/they're clueless? Anya 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 Ed was the programmer. He decided the weight of characters falling and that kind of thing. I have interviews where he even talks about it. I even know of video interviews where you actually see him experimenting with that stuff in MK3.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 Ok, so he's like an idiot savant with the 2D/3D thing. Highly likely.
Anya 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 No, I'm not saying he is great or anything. You know I usually make fun of poor Ed. He just did one thing right.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 ...and here comes our first review of MK:A - four and a half stars out of five. Albeit, from GameDaily: http://ps2.gamedaily.com/game/review/?game...964&id=1342
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 "This is one of those games that's impossible to hate unless you're a Bible-thumping right-wing anti-violence activist from a state redder than Hell Boy." The reviewer is an idiot. I like how they have a briefer, ADD version of the review. You know, for the folks who didn't want that EXHAUSTIVE look into the gameplay and just the quick and dirty. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 Game Informer gave it 8.25, but not really. The review said "we hate this game" but the score said "...but Gamestop pays our bills."
Anya 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2006 I got it today. Game sucks. After a year of playing T5 against good competition I had forgotten how bad this game is. It's so slow, sluggish and stiff. I can't believe how bad the animation is. It's like War Gods. I beat the game as Stryker. I found an exploit to beat Blaze in like 10 seconds. His ending was nothing. It was like 2 paragraphs just saying Stryker will fight crime. Nothing at all happened. No climatic end to his story or anything. Yeah it's just Stryker but come on.... The kreate a fatality thing sucks just like I thought it would. So generic and bland.
