dubq 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2006 Rocket is easily my favourite track. Their cover of Landslide is also the best around.
Wyld Cannon 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2006 I can hear some shoegaze in there. Some of this sounds kind of like a dumbed-down Loveless. I once heard Loveless described as "The album Billy Corgan has been masturbating to for the last ten years". I think it was by the nice young fellows at punknews.org. SP is actually one of my favorite bands of all time, i have nearly EVERYTHING they did. They have tons of b-sides (not just the Aeroplane Flies High box set) and they can go really heavy and really "emo" at times (not that they're an emo band). I wasn't impressed at all with Billy's solo album though, and i don't really have high hopes of him getting away from that type of sound.

k thx 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2007 Not a bad comeback single. Not amazing, but good enough. I'm seeing them in Barcelona in a fortnight. Should be interesting if nothing else.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 I run very hot and colt on the Pumpkins. Truth be told I've usually found Siamese Dream to be an overrated album. I enjoy Cherub Rock off it, Today is of course a standard, Quiet is decent albeit too long. But stuff like Disarm? Really doesn't hold up at all with time, mainly due to Corgan's whiny voice. And really the 2nd half of the CD? It's filler. I'd be hard pressed to name a really notable song on the 2nd half of that CD. Mellon Collie I enjoyed a lot at the time. Of course a double album is usually cumbersome and a tough listen. But if you connect with it there are a lot of wildly enjoyable songs on that album: Thirty Three (one of their best songs), BWBW of course, Porcelina of the Vast Oceans, Through the Eyes of Ruby. We Only Come Out at Night is a rare humorous Pumpkins song.
k thx 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2007 Not a bad comeback single. Not amazing, but good enough. I'm seeing them in Barcelona in a fortnight. Should be interesting if nothing else. My verdict: I definitely recommend seeing the band, even if you're only familiar with the singles. There's something amazing about singing songs like Today, Tonight Tonight, Disarm, Zero etc as part of a massive crowd. Corgan seems up for it, the sound is good, the new guys look the part. The new songs don't strike you as diabolical, although of course they're not of the same standard as the originals. Tarantula is brilliant live. If you're in half a mind about seeing them, go do it before Corgan changes his mind again.

I disagree with this completely, as I think the second half is a lot better than the first.
