Was watching the Rumble at my local BW3's and almost everybody there wanted Rey to win, including me. Didnt know he lasted that long though.

The whole "its better to enter #30 than #1" theory has no credibility left.

Agreed. It's bullshit. When you have one of the first entrants last all the way until the end and win it every other year, it cheapens the whole thing. Rey could have come in at 20 and it would have been just as effective. He doesn't have to be the iron man too. #1, #2, and #3 have won it plenty of times now, yet no one from the 6-15 range ever does anything. Rey could have been #12 and looked just as good. The whole #1 and #2 hang around until the end is so played out. Carlito's performance would have been put over a lot more as well if it hadn't been for this booking. Instead it's meaningless.

And since when do #1 and #2 have to be established guys every year? The numbers are supposed to be random, right? Why can't guys like Matt Hardy and Murdoch be 1 and 2?

I did like that they threw some star power into the 5-12 slots, which are usually dead weight. But the 1-2 thing has got to stop.

One of these years, I want to see them do something so unorthodox just to shake it up and try to re-establish the idea that "anything can happen." Like have the ring get cleared out around #24 except for one guy. Then he eliminates #25 in a minute, #26, #27, etc until it's just him and #30 in there. Kind of like Diesel in '94 but at the end of the match.

In 2001 they started with Jeff Hardy and some other midcard guy right? But the 2001 Rumble was boring though, only credible contenders were The Rock, Big Show, Kane and Stone Cold. They tried to make Rikishi a contender but failed. This Rumble was stacked, I liked it.

I wouldn't mind seeing the #30 win for once, cause they always say he's lucky.

It seems to win a royal rumble, you only have to draw #1-3, or #27-29.

Carlito would've been a great #1, with him having a "thats not cool" reaction to the drawing, put him against Chavo at #2, and Mysterio could've had the same effect drawing #7-12. Instead they gave him the iron-man for the sake of being the iron-man. Ironically enough, last year he drew a early number, lasting about 45 minutes and actually came off as a spunky "you can't get me" face with Edge chasing him all night, last night he basically layed down the entire time and hardly even did any skin the cat spots as he did last year.

Triple H did those instead, and who isn't surprised Triple H was #1, I even called it awhile back but changed my mind. Also, I kind of like the crowded ring thing but not when it's 15 guys and you can't tell where anyone is. Randy Orton being #30 wasn't neccesary as he could have been happy about drawing #28 instead, and made Goldust's "surprise" return @ 30.

Who had the most surprising run in the rumble? Would we agree that it was Tatanka or Jordan? Jordan lasted 16 minutes, while I was expecting a quick elimination for him. Tatanka just really didn't serve a purpose being out there for 15 minutes while some good talent lasted less then 10 minutes.

Is Pat Patterson back with the company? And if he is, is he still booking the Rumble?

Yes, he is back with the company and I would imagine he was a part of the scripting.

I think they gave Rey number 2 in reference to how Eddie was number two last year. Sorta more of an "Eddie is watching" thing.

OJ lasted long because they plan on pushing him as bisexual...that's also why they had he and Orton go 15 mins on SD! - all to help the push - WON confirmed

Eddie was #1, Benoit was #2 last year.

I don't even know why anyone tries a top rose splash mountain on Rey. After the first two or three times you saw it, you knew what was gonna happen everytime that certain situation arose.

What annoys me more is when the big guys pick up someone and instead of tossing them over the ropes, they drop them on the ring.

TBS did this about 5 times with Triple H alone last night.

The only thing Im going to dispute is the time. I had the rumble match beginning at 8:58:00 exactly and ending at 10:01:56, which is 63:56.

and if you use the times provided, Eugene was in for 16:25

If you're right, then I was one second off calling the Rumble time perfectly.

I always thought Bob Backlund had the longest time at the Rumble in excess of 63 minutes. I'm probably mistaken but I thought he had the all-time record.

Benoit broke that record in 04.
