Styles Posted July 4, 2006 Author Report Posted July 4, 2006 I'm still a playoff team but just barely.
treble Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 I'll trade one of my pitchers (minus Kazmir) for offensive help if anyone's interested.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 I'll trade Castillo/Burnitz/Pierzynski/Cabrera for a pitcher if someone wants to do a trade. Oh, and I know its not the right thread, but Im lazy and dont feel like searching for the fantasy football thread..but someone needs to get that started up for this year.
Guest Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 All it took was a jumpstart to the offense and the right Weaver in the lineup. He made Kazmir expendable, even if it is a lot to expect from him.
CanadianChris Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Question regarding this week: Since this is only a four-day week (actually three for many teams), what happens to the minimum innings requirement?
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Question regarding this week: Since this is only a four-day week (actually three for many teams), what happens to the minimum innings requirement? Lots of ties.
Krankor Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 My team is sad. I've only won 4 times during the entire season.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 I just realized Ive tied by far the fewest times (4) of any team in the league. The next fewest is 7, but most are over 10. Im also kicking myself for not starting Reyes, as Im at 14 IP with Capuano tonight..if I had started Reyes I might have had a shot at 28 IP. Boras has a shot at 28 IP as well..so I could end up defaulting all those points which will pretty much end any playoff hopes I have.
razazteca Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 Did anybody make the 28 innings this week?
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Last Place Scott Boras All Stars made it by 2/3 IP with Peavy going 6 and only needing 5 1/3. Of course, he was facing me..and I had the Save cat won and wins/holds tied but thats all gone.. I did have 4 of 6 offensive cats won though..but a 4-8-0 result for this week pretty much ends my hope for playoffs.
Cuban Linx Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Well it's about time my team did something right. Surprisingly made it even after i forgot to put Pedro on the DL and start someone else.
CanadianChris Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Did anybody make the 28 innings this week? I didn't, but it looks like the minimum innings requirement was waived.
iggymcfly Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Yeah, that was bullshit. I was sure that I'd move back into first this week since I reached the minimum innings requirement and my opponent didn't. Alas, they let him keep his pitching wins anyway, so what should have been a 10-1 shellacking turned into a run-of-the-mill 7-3 victory. Shenanigans I say! Oh, and for the record, almost everyone in the league made 28 innings. It really wasn't all that unreasonable of a requirement.
CanadianChris Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 For me it wasn't unreasonable...it was impossible. Only two of my starters were scheduled to make starts this past weekend.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Ive got 7 weeks to make up 10.5 GB 6th place. Ugh. I guess I can start this week vs Rockbirds.
treble Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 I've squeezed into first place thanks to the minimum IP requirements being waived. I think I'm getting pretty lucky, though, since the last time I checked I was in the middle of the pack in most stat categories.
Styles Posted July 19, 2006 Author Report Posted July 19, 2006 TRADE! Rockbirds get: M. Mussina (SP) C. Floyd (OF) H. Blalock (3B) Brockvegas Posse get: Z. Miner (SP) A. Huff (OF, 1B, 3B) T. Wiggington (OF, 1B, 2B, 3B) APPROVED (what, like Im not going to approve my own trade?) In other news, Blalock is now immediately on the block, so Ill hear all offers!
Styles Posted July 20, 2006 Author Report Posted July 20, 2006 Followup trade to announce: Rockbirds get: A. Kearns (OF) Komijul get: H. Blalock (3B) APPROVED. Duh.
Guest Monty Burns Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 I traded Alex Rodriguez for Contreras, Hoffman, and Mora earlier this week (I'm in need of pitching). Can't believe that deal went through.
CanadianChris Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 I don't care what happens for the rest of the season...after starting 4-17, I finally made it over .500.
iggymcfly Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Back in first after a huge week. Other than saves (which I only accumulate by accident, as I never signed a closer), I either won or tied every category. Feels much sweeter to be back on top after a little struggle, as I was kind of taking it for granted before.
Guest Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 I don't care what happens for the rest of the season...after starting 4-17, I finally made it over .500. I don't care either. I'm very comfortable with my keepers. Oh yeah, I'll package Hafner and Jered Weaver or D-Train together for one player if someone wants them.
Styles Posted July 27, 2006 Author Report Posted July 27, 2006 Well, I guess Im trade happy at the deadline or something because I've just agreed to my 3rd in the last week! Rockbirds get: J. Johnson (FLA-SP) J. Gomes (TB-OF) Infinite93Intensity get: T. Hudson (ATL-SP) E. Byrnes (ARZ-OF) APPROVED. (again, duh). I know Gomes has been tremendously bad lately and might even be DLed, but what the hell, take a flier in case he turns it around. Byrnes was being blocked on my bench anyway, I like J. Johnson and had been looking to dump Hudson. So we'll see.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 My pitching has blown chunks this week.. and thanks to Brockvegas for dumping Ty Wiggington. Whats the deal with keepers (how many)..its time to start considering keepers.. oh..and trade deadline deals..um..I'll part with Eric Chavez if someone needs a 3B and wants to part with a decent SP.
Styles Posted July 27, 2006 Author Report Posted July 27, 2006 Whats the deal with keepers (how many)..its time to start considering keepers.. From page 4 of the thread, the Keeper Rule (which I think is convoluted, but hey, you all voted for it! The last clause does give me the right to change it though if there's enough minds changed): Keeper Rule: A*4 Keepers of any position will be chosen by each team at the end of the season. B*Teams must choose no less than 4 Keepers. C*Teams will lose a draft pick in the forthcoming draft corresponding to the round each of their keepers were previously drafted in. (for example: Albert Pujols is chosen as a keeper and he was drafted in the 1st round of the previous draft. Team loses first round pick in next draft). D*If a keeper was undrafted, the team will lose their last round draft pick avaliable. (For example if 3 players chosen as keepers were picked up as free agents, and there are 20 round (I forgot the exact number), team loses their 20th, 19th and 18th round picks.) E*If a player chosen as a keeper was drafted by another team and aquired via trade or free agency or waivers, the team choosing the keeper will lose the corresponding round pick that the player was drafted. (For example: If Derek Jeter is drafted in the 3rd round by Team A, and then traded to Team B, and Team B chooses Jeter as a keeper, then Team B will forfeit their 3rd round pick). F*If more than one keeper were drafted in the same round (for example, Team B chooses Derek Jeter (drafted in 3rd round by Team A and traded to Team B) and Ichiro Suziki (drafted by Team B in 3rd round), team will forfeit the next lowest round (so in our example rounds 3 and 4.) G*If a team wishes to keep a keeper for two or more consecutive seasons, team will still forfeit the round pick in which the keeper was originally drafted in. H*These rules are subject to review and revision after the season at the discretion of the commisioner.
Guest Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 So, let's say that I keep Vlad, Howard, Miggy and Dontrelle or Hafner. Vlad and Cabrera were drafted in the first, so I lose my first no matter what. Howard and Dontrelle were drafted in the 2nd, so do I lose my 3rd and 4th round pick? If I keep Hafner (drafted in the 3rd) instead of Dontrelle, do I just lose my 4th? I'm just curious, not that I really care about losing any of those picks for those players.

You would lose rounds 1-4. Vlad- 1st Cabrera- 2nd (pushed from 1st) Howard- 3rd (pushed from 2nd) Dontrelle-4th (pushed from 2nd) or Hafner-4th (pushed from 3rd)
treble Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 Uggla, Giles, or Wilkerson is on the block for some pitching.
