Why job RVD to an old man that's about to retire? It makes better sense to have Rob challenge HHH for his MITB (if he wins it) title match two weeks before ONS and win the WWE title on an "ECW ppv". Funk should wrestle Sandman or Justin Credible in the midcard.

- Terry Funk has been contacted by WWE to participate in an ECW One Night Stand match with RVD. He is supposedly finally retiring, having sold his ranch, and he has been turning down $2500 matches lately. He may do the ECW show or a few matches with Dusty Rhodes down the line but that's it.

That's almost too stupid to believe. It's like the writers all got together and said "Hey, let's try to find the one ECW person that RVD won't be able to have a good match with"

Now, that's not fair. I'm sure RVD can have bad matches with a ton of people. I mean, its not like his trademark is his ***** match catalogue or something. The one thing he really can do is have some really fun brawls and highspot filled matches, and I'm sure Funk can even at 62 can have an acceptable brawl.

Considering Foley is getting into ring shape for Edge, I think a match against Cactus would be a fitting last match for Funk.

RVD can face anybody, there isn't a dream match for him, so he'd be better off just running through his spots and squashing someone.

If they are serious about that Funk/RVD crap then jobbing RVD there in theory means nothing because those match results don't count in the WWE universe (of course the RVD cashing the MITB actually would count in the WWE universe). I certainly think Funk should face someone he has some history going against though, hence Foley. I think Foley should be at that PPV and maybe he and Funk can tag against someone if they don't want to job either man.

My point is that it makes no sense for anyone besides RVD to win the MITB since he's the closest guy to main eventing that will be in the match...and they are going to need a hook for that ECW PPV to draw a dime. Last year the hook was "See the ECW stars! See Bischoff and the Invaders get their asses kicked!" This year it'd just be a random bunch of matches with no current backstory, thus it needs something like RVD going for the title in front of "his" fans.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what exactly is HHH doing at ONS to begin with? Why would he be there to be challenged?

Because, according to cabbageboy's logic, the sales pitch for last year's event was that WWE stars would be there, and therefore the WWE title would need to be defended this year.

Yeah, I don't get it either.

But its not like Cena or Batista were there last year. It was Angle, Edge, Bradshaw and 8000 jobbers.

If RVD/Funk is headlining ONS II, I have to seriously question buying that show. If that is your top match, then what's the point of doing the show in the first place?

I think you almost have to have WWE influence/guys peppered into the show for it to work on any level, especially with a lot of the guys not available this year.

They're giving Dusty the book? Good Lord...

He's supposedly been booking Smackdown, and the show has been blowing away Raw.

I'm curious, how long has he been booking Smackdown? Other than the Mark Henry push and the Eddie stuff I've enjoyed what I've seen of the show recently.

The Eddie stuff and the Mark Henry push, and (if I could add) the Randy Orton main event push have been huge chunks of the show that are hard to overlook.

Matches I would rather see:

Funk vs. Sabu

Funk vs. Foley

Funk vs. Sandman

Funk & Dreamer vs. Impact Players

Funk & Dreamer vs. Sabu & RVD

Funk vs. Stevie vs. Sandman

Hopefully, Funk can use Desperado as theme music.

- Marty Wright (the Boogeyman) supposedly eats worms backstage as well as on camera.

This whole staying in character thing is getting silly now.

I think it's just Japan that are that strict on their rules - I'm sure he can work in Europe with a criminal record, he's been on UK shows I do believe.

And how harsh are they? I mean when did he serve time for this? it's been over 15 years hasn't it?

The Smoking Gun says -

Huffman pleaded guilty in December 1987 to two aggravated robbery counts and was sentenced to five years in the can. He was released after serving about one-third of that term, and was placed on parole until April 1992.

Boogeyman = Ultimate Warrior 2.0

I wonder if in interviews he'll say "I'm comin' to get you!", then he beats up the interviewee and spits worms into his mouth?
